The blazing sun spirit stones in the storage bag were mostly collected monthly from the disciples, or exchanged with spirit stones.
Suddenly seeing such a “large fortune” made Yu Xian’s heart stir with excitement. But he quickly calmed himself.
Zhao Mulin’s death wasn’t a big deal within the sect, but the incident concerning the Bai Kuang Mine was no small matter.
Especially since he had lost the storage bag, which contained over a month’s worth of mined ore handed in by the disciples.
With this connection, the Bai Kuang Mine would definitely investigate thoroughly.
Better safe than sorry — the blazing sun spirit stones must not be exposed for now.
Inside the storage bag, apart from 84 blazing sun spirit stones and 371 low-grade spirit stones, there were also many bottles, scrolls, medicine formulas, and two talisman treasures along with one magic treasure.
In the cultivation world, magic treasures are categorized into ten grades. Above magic treasures are spirit treasures, also divided into ten grades. Beyond spirit treasures, there are the incredibly rare supreme treasures.
The magic treasures Zhao Mulin had used for defense were the most basic Grade 1 ones.
As for the magic treasure inside this storage bag — it was a Grade 3 treasure, a gleaming sword far more powerful than Yu Xian’s own short blade.
The two talisman treasures consisted of an offensive one — Golden Light Slash, a powerful spell usable by late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivators.
And a defensive one — Demon Guard Spirit Shield, also a high-level defensive spell for late Foundation Establishment.
Seeing this, Yu Xian couldn’t help but feel even more fortunate. Good thing he acted decisively!
If Zhao Mulin had time to react, just this Demon Guard Spirit Shield alone would’ve made his own Fire Dragon Art a joke.
He took out the two talisman treasures and stored them close to his body, ensuring he could activate them instantly in critical moments. Only then did Yu Xian continue inspecting the rest.
Among the bottles were some Fasting Pills and Spirit Water Pills, as well as Cultivation Enhancing Pills, Minor Spirit Pills, Bloodburst Pills, Mind-Nourishing Pills, and more.
There was also a small pile of various spiritual herbs — no fewer than a dozen types.
Among the scrolls and manuals, there was a Ten Thousand Elixirs Manual, standard for disciples of the alchemy workshop, as well as the Bai Kuang Record, containing information on the mine.
There were also a few spell techniques — Mind Training, Illusion Breaking, and other learnable methods.
Finally, there were two medicinal formulas:
Foundation Establishment Pill Formula
Earth Spirit Pill Formula
“Foundation Establishment Pill formula?”
Yu Xian’s eyes lit up with surprise as he looked at it.
Zhao Mulin actually managed to obtain such a thing?
Foundation Establishment Pills were essential for stepping into the Foundation Establishment realm. They significantly boosted the success rate and the more you had, the better.
But these pills were extremely expensive. In the alchemy workshop, one cost as much as 3000 low-grade spirit stones!
A common outer sect disciple couldn’t afford even one in their entire life.
Clearly, Zhao Mulin couldn’t either. That’s why he tried to get the pill formula and refine it himself.
No wonder he had gathered so many spiritual herbs and ingredients — all preparations to eventually refine Foundation Establishment Pills.
But now, both the ingredients and the formula had fallen into Yu Xian’s hands.
Although Yu Xian was interested in the Foundation Establishment Pill, it wasn’t the right time. He was only at the early Qi Condensation stage and still far from completing it.
So, he shifted his attention away for now.
The higher-grade magic treasures couldn’t be used openly either — using them would attract suspicion. So, he kept them inside the storage bag.
He only kept two bottles of fasting and spirit water pills, a dozen spirit stones, the two talisman treasures, and a few cultivation techniques, then carefully hid the storage bag away.
Having done all this, Yu Xian returned to his routine as if nothing had happened.
Zhao Mulin had vanished from the Blazing Sun Mine.
At first, Elder Zhang and the other elders thought Zhao had left the sect for some urgent matter.
But after three whole days without any word, they panicked and quickly sent Liu Xue to report it to the Bai Kuang Mine office.
Soon after, one of the mine supervisors — Huang Hanxiao — came to investigate.
He was the same supervisor who had sent Yu Xian to the mine.
Zhao Mulin’s disappearance was strange — without a trace, no signs, no clues.
Huang Hanxiao searched his residence thoroughly, used several detection techniques, but still found nothing.
“That bastard… Could it be he ran off with the spirit stones?”
Huang Hanxiao frowned and asked, “Did Zhao Mulin show any unusual behavior recently?”
The three elders thought for a moment. Suddenly, Zhang smacked his head and said, “Yes! Senior Brother Zhao seemed to be gathering ingredients for refining Foundation Establishment Pills. He spent quite a bit on spirit stones too.”
“Foundation Establishment Pills, huh?” Huang snorted coldly. “No wonder! That scum must’ve fled with the ores to exchange for spirit stones. He thinks he can refine such pills himself? What a joke!”
Alchemy wasn’t just tossing ingredients into a furnace. It required precise control of fire, timing, combinations, and even the furnace’s quality affected the pill yield.
With a wave of his sleeve, Huang declared, “He won’t escape. I’ll report this to the Judiciary Hall — even if he hides to the ends of the earth, we’ll drag him back!”
Elder Zhang’s eyes glinted. He smiled obsequiously and asked, “Now that Zhao Mulin is gone… Who will manage the mine, Supervisor Huang?”
The other two elders perked up immediately, eyes glowing with ambition.
Huang gave them a side glance and chuckled, “That’s not for me to decide. But I can put in a good word with the chief supervisor… depends on how you all perform.”
The three elders’ eyes gleamed. They began calculating how many spirit stones they could offer to curry favor.
Huang, with a sly smirk, added, “Alright, I’m heading back to report Zhao Mulin’s betrayal. As for who becomes the new mine manager, I’ll discuss it tonight with the chief. Everyone has a chance.”
He turned and walked away.
The three elders exchanged glances, flames of rivalry igniting between them, then hurried after Huang to see him off.
But halfway to the teleportation array, Huang suddenly paused and looked into the distance with a frown.
Yu Xian was just leaving his quarters, heading toward the mine.
To avoid suspicion, Yu Xian had been pretending to dig daily. In reality, he was cultivating inside the mine.
He had been overly cautious.
He hadn’t expected Zhao Mulin’s disappearance would be so casually declared a betrayal.
Now, Huang Hanxiao caught sight of him.
Huang remembered Yu Xian clearly. After all, the chief supervisor had specifically ordered him to “take special care” of the boy — the ultimate plan being to drive him out of the White Cloud Sect. And that order came directly from a powerful inner sect elder.
Originally, Huang thought Zhao Mulin would carry out the job within the month, finding some reason to dismiss Yu Xian.
But here he was, still in the mine?
Huang’s eyes narrowed in anger. That dog Zhao Mulin didn’t follow orders!
If the chief, or worse, that inner sect elder found out, he would be in trouble!
No more pretending — Huang pointed at Yu Xian’s back and barked, “Why is this brat still here? Didn’t I tell you to deal with him?”
“Uh, Supervisor Huang,” Elder Zhang scratched his head, “That kid got lucky. We assigned him the abandoned Mine No. 18. But he actually dug out a blazing sun spirit stone from there and paid this month’s tribute.”
Huang’s brow twitched. “From a scrap mine?”
He sneered. “What luck. Watch him closely. If he fails to pay next time, kick him out immediately. I don’t want to see him here again. Understood?”
“Understood, understood,” the three elders nodded repeatedly.
Only then did Huang give Yu Xian one last cold glance before stepping into the teleportation array and vanishing.
“Looks like Supervisor Huang really has a grudge against that brat,” said one of the elders.
Zhang’s eyes glinted coldly as he stared at Mine No. 18. “Should we make that brat disappear?”
“Let’s wait and see. No way he strikes lucky again. When he can’t pay at month’s end, we’ll kick him out fair and square.”
“Right. If he gets lucky again, we can deal with him then.”
Elder Sun and Liu Xue didn’t share Zhang’s viciousness. They turned away to prepare bribes for Huang — after all, becoming the mine supervisor meant dozens of low-grade spirit stones per month from ore exchange alone.
Zhang sneered at their backs. “They don’t even understand what Supervisor Huang really wants. And they think they can compete with me?”
Then he looked at Mine No. 18 again with a cruel grin. “If you don’t find another spirit stone, you’ll walk away on your own. But if you do… Heh, then I’ll send you away myself!”
