“Sell some items?!”
Hu Li’s heart skipped a beat. His eyes lit up with burning intensity, and though he tried to contain his excitement, he spoke with trembling restraint:
“Senior, if you’re here to sell goods to the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion… w-why not go directly to the floor masters?”
He didn’t dare accept the deal on his own.
If the Pavilion’s floor masters found out he privately made trades with someone like Xu Haoming, he’d be caught between life and death.
Yu Xian said calmly,
“Oh? So I have to find them? Can’t you handle it?”
“I-I could… technically, yes,” Hu Li replied with a respectful tone. “But doing so would be outside the rules. If the floor masters found out, I’d be punished.”
Yu Xian frowned slightly.
“Punished? Why? Aren’t I selling to your Pavilion? That makes no sense.”
Then, with a casual wave of his hand, he said,
“Whatever. I’m selling to you. If there’s a problem, they can come find me themselves. Now answer my earlier question—why is the third floor off-limits?”
Hu Li’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He was barely able to contain his excitement.
With Xu Haoming’s approval, even if questioned later, he now had an excuse—it was all for the Pavilion!
“S-since you insist, then I shall handle the matter…”
He swallowed hard and nodded. Then he explained:
“As for the third floor, it’s where we hold our monthly internal auction. It’s not open normally, and there’s a Foundation Establishment expert cultivating there. Regular people aren’t allowed up.”
“Auction… Foundation Establishment, huh?”
Yu Xian’s eyes sparkled slightly, and he nodded.
“I see. I was just curious. Forget it. Although… the auction itself sounds interesting. I’d like to attend. When’s the next one?”
“Senior wants to attend? That’s perfect!” Hu Li’s face lit up.
“The next Ten Thousand Treasures Auction is in two days—it’s held once a month. Just a short wait!”
“Two days, huh…”
Yu Xian nodded, then glanced discreetly at the third-floor stairs and sensed the warmth of the jade pendant on his chest.
He smiled faintly.
“Alright, then I’ll wait. But first—let’s talk business. I’ve got plenty of items. I just hope you can digest them.”
“Senior, please—this way!”
Hu Li’s eyes gleamed with eagerness as he led Yu Xian into a private room.
“You all get back to your posts! Don’t you see guests waiting?! Go, go, go!” he shouted at the female cultivators before shutting the door.
Then he rushed up to Yu Xian, rubbing his hands together eagerly.
“What items does Senior wish to sell?”
Yu Xian tossed out a storage pouch.
“Magical artifacts, talismans, and pills. Take a look and quote me a price.”
“Absolutely!”
Hu Li eagerly infused spiritual sense into the pouch—
—and instantly froze.
His face flushed bright red as his heart pounded wildly.
The beat was so intense even Yu Xian could hear the thump-thump-thump echoing through the room!
Thirty magical artifacts—all second-tier!
Thirty talismans—ten each for early, mid, and late Foundation Establishment!
Fifty bottles of pills—ten first-tier, forty second-tier!
Even by the lowest valuation, this hoard was worth at least thirty thousand spirit stones!
“Se-se-senior…” Hu Li’s voice trembled violently.
“S-so many?!”
“Too many?”
Yu Xian’s tone was flat.
“Isn’t this building of yours grand and well-stocked? Shouldn’t a day’s earnings easily cover this?”
“Senior, y-you overestimate us…” Hu Li gave a bitter smile.
“This is a market full of rogue cultivators. Where would we get that kind of spirit stones? Even two to three thousand a day is considered excellent. A large building means nothing—materials from the mortal world are worthless. Even a mortal palace is worth little to a cultivator.”
“Oh? So you’re saying you can’t afford it?”
Yu Xian stood and made to leave.
“No big deal.”
“Wait—Senior, please don’t go!”
Hu Li jumped to his feet.
“I-I can inform the Pavilion Master!”
Though he didn’t have the power to complete the deal, he couldn’t let it slip away.
Even if he handed it off to his superiors, he’d still benefit from it.
Letting this man walk away meant losing everything!
Yu Xian’s brows furrowed slightly.
The Pavilion Master…
If they had met Xu Haoming in person, they’d immediately know he was a fake.
But after a moment’s thought, Yu Xian nodded coolly.
“Fine. Since you can’t handle it, let your master come.”
Hu Li was overjoyed.
“Understood! Senior, please wait—I’ll go fetch him right away!”
He bolted out of the room like a gale.
Yu Xian remained calm, seated with ease. He took a sip of tea, entirely unbothered.
A short while later, the door creaked open.
A woman entered cautiously—it was Xiao Cai, the one Yu Xian had rejected earlier.
She crept to Yu Xian’s side, speaking softly,
“Senior… the Manager asked me to help you relax… Please don’t be angry with me. I was blind and foolish to offend you earlier. If Senior needs anything… Xiao Cai will serve you wholeheartedly…”
Her massage was indeed skilled, and her soft hands kneaded Yu Xian’s shoulders with expert finesse.
“No need. I wasn’t offended. You didn’t truly cross a line.”
Yu Xian closed his eyes and spoke indifferently.
To him, such shallow people—fawning or mocking—were all the same. Worthless.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Cai was overjoyed and worked harder, her chest pressing subtly against his back, trying to entice him.
Yu Xian remained still, eyes closed, silently enjoying the massage.
About the time it took to burn an incense stick later, the door suddenly opened again.
Hu Li stood by with a middle-aged man at his side.
The man gave Xiao Cai a sharp glance and said coldly,
“Leave.”
Xiao Cai trembled as if receiving an imperial decree and ran out without another word.
Only then did the middle-aged man step inside with Hu Li.
Hu Li quietly shut the door behind them.
The man looked at Yu Xian and spoke in a calm but stern voice:
“I am Jiang Liu, the Second Floor Pavilion Master of the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion.
May I ask—who are you? Why are you impersonating Xu Daoyou of the White Cloud Sect’s Forging Hall?”
His tone turned ice-cold.
“If you don’t explain yourself clearly, I’m afraid… you won’t be leaving this room.”
Hu Li’s face went pale.
“H-he’s an impostor?!”
Jiang Liu ignored him and stared hard at Yu Xian.
“Second Floor Master, eh? Sharp eyes—you saw through my disguise at a glance.”
Yu Xian chuckled softly.
“That’s right. I’m not Xu Haoming. But I am a disciple of the White Cloud Sect’s Forging Hall.
Name’s Ling Youmao—Xu Haoming’s junior.”
“Ling Youmao?”
Jiang Liu frowned slightly.
After a moment, he said coldly,
“Do you have proof of identity?”
“Proof?”
Yu Xian laughed.
“I’m here to trade on my senior brother’s orders. Why do I need some damn proof?
Didn’t he already tell you what I’d bring? Look for yourself if you don’t believe me.”
“I came to deal with you, risking capture by the Discipline Hall just for the sake of dealing with rogue cultivators. Don’t let me down.”
Jiang Liu’s expression shifted.
He felt his face lose some dignity from being rebuked like this.
Hu Li, meanwhile, stood frozen, unsure what to do.
But then—
“Hahaha!” Jiang Liu suddenly burst out laughing.
“So it really is Brother Ling! I’ve heard your name from Xu Haoming himself!
He said you’re his most trusted junior—and a genius of the Forging Hall!
It’s an honor for our Pavilion to receive goods from you!”
Yu Xian said flatly,
“Cut the nonsense. He should have already told you what I brought.
If you doubt it, check it yourself.
I’ve already taken a huge risk to trade with you.
Don’t make me regret it.”
