The second floor was noticeably smaller than the first.
However, it featured numerous private pavilions—each one elegant and classically designed.
A few cultivators walked about, giving the impression that the real treasures were traded inside those private rooms.
Compared to the bustling ground floor, the number of people here was reduced by at least tenfold—extremely sparse.
After all, in the entire Heishan Market, rogue cultivators capable of spending over a thousand spirit stones to qualify for the second floor were few and far between.
Yu Xian swept his gaze over the entire second floor, then followed the increasing heat from the jade pendant on his chest, moving deeper in.
Just then, a woman wearing sheer white robes—a beauty with curves that teased the imagination—spotted Yu Xian stepping onto the second floor and immediately sashayed her way over.
She smiled sweetly and greeted him,
“You seem unfamiliar, fellow Daoist. Did you just receive your Purple-Gold Ten Thousand Treasures Token?”
“I did,” Yu Xian replied plainly as he continued walking, not even glancing at her.
The woman blinked in surprise.
Clearly, she didn’t expect someone to ignore her completely.
She had reeled in countless wealthy fools up here—and now, one actually brushed her off like air?
She stepped closer, nearly brushing up against him, and her fragrant perfume wafted toward him. She purred,
“Is fellow Daoist looking for something special? Pills? Treasures? I can help guide you, you know~”
“No need.”
Yu Xian’s tone was cold and impersonal, striding forward without pause.
The female cultivator was momentarily stunned.
She stared at his back, eyes swirling with disbelief and frustration. Then, with a humph, she stomped a foot in annoyance and muttered,
“Country bumpkin!”
She turned and left to attend to other guests on the second floor—after all, she wasn’t the only hostess here.
To earn more spirit stones, she needed to work harder. Wasting time on a stingy bumpkin wasn’t worth the effort.
Yu Xian heard her insult loud and clear—even though she lowered her voice, it was obviously meant for him.
But he didn’t care.
He had seen far too many shallow and snobbish people.
Arguing with such people only degrades you. Even slapping them with wealth is a loss—because they have no pride. In fact, they often provoke you just so you’ll “slap them” with gold.
And right now, he had no time to waste—he had to follow the jade pendant’s growing heat.
The last time it felt this hot… was when he discovered the Blazing Sun Spirit Jade.
That meant the object up ahead was at least equal to, if not more valuable than, that treasure!
Ignoring the passersby, booths, and other hostesses’ inquiries, Yu Xian eventually arrived at a staircase.
To the third floor.
He frowned slightly and glanced around.
No guards.
So maybe there weren’t any restrictions?
He stepped forward.
Zzzzzttt!!
As soon as his foot touched the stair, a burst of lightning arced out, striking the third-grade artifact boots he wore.
Startled, Yu Xian stepped back.
A scorch mark now marred the surface of his Snowstep Boots, despite them being defensive third-grade artifacts focused on speed.
If they could be scorched, then a regular early-stage cultivator would have been seriously injured—at the very least, burned flesh and blood.
A restriction formation!?
Yu Xian frowned, staring at the stairs to the third floor.
There were no guards—but there was definitely a powerful barrier in place.
“Who triggered the Thunder Array!?”
A roar echoed from the side as a burly man burst out of one of the private rooms. He looked straight at the staircase—and saw Yu Xian standing there.
His shout caught the attention of everyone on the second floor.
They turned to look, curious.
What happened?
The man strode over, aura surging, and barked,
“Who told you to touch the Thunder Array!?”
Then he scanned the surroundings and growled,
“Where is everyone?! Are you blind? Neglecting your duties? No one’s guarding the stairway?! What if this disturbed the seniors upstairs—you all want to die!?”
Over a dozen female cultivators rushed over, faces pale, bowing and apologizing in panic.
“Manager Hu, please forgive us!”
“I told you already! Every guest who comes to the second floor must be clearly warned! Especially about the third floor! But you’re all too busy smiling and flirting for spirit stones, forgetting the most important rule! If this guest had been harmed, would you have paid with your lives!?”
The women all trembled, some glancing at each other in confusion.
They were sure they had warned their guests.
Except…
One of them—the very woman Yu Xian had rejected earlier—nervously pointed at him,
“M-Manager Hu… it was him! He refused to let me follow! I wanted to warn him, really!”
“Y-Yes! She’s right! I tried to talk to him too, but he wouldn’t let me!”
“Same here! He seemed like he already knew everything!”
Two more added quickly—they had all tried to offer their “help” but had been flatly turned away.
“Hmm?”
The burly man frowned and looked at Yu Xian.
“So, fellow Daoist—what exactly are you doing up here? Shopping? Without a guide? Wandering around randomly?”
His eyes grew sharp.
“Or… are you spying on something?”
Yu Xian turned around calmly, expression neutral.
The man narrowed his eyes.
The Thunder Array wasn’t overwhelmingly powerful, but still not to be taken lightly.
Any normal cultivator would have panicked after being hit.
Yet Yu Xian stood there calmly, unscathed, his clothes completely intact.
Clearly, not a simple character.
Of course, the man missed the faint white scorch mark on Yu Xian’s boots.
“I’m not investigating anything,” Yu Xian said evenly.
“Just curious.”
“Is that so…”
The man softened his tone a bit.
“I am Hu Li, manager of the second floor of Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion. May I ask fellow Daoist’s name?”
Hu Li…
Yu Xian nodded.
“Xu Haoming.”
“Xu Haoming? That name sounds familiar…”
Hu Li’s brows furrowed—then his eyes widened in shock.
“Wait! Are you Xu Haoming, top disciple of the Outer Forging Hall of White Cloud Sect—Elder Xu!?”
Yu Xian’s mouth twitched slightly.
He’d randomly thrown out a fake name…
But it actually belonged to someone famous!?
Had he known, he would’ve called himself anything else—like Cat Liu or Dog Zhang.
But the situation was what it was.
He coughed and replied calmly,
“You’ve seen me before?”
“N-No! I’ve only heard of you, Elder Xu!” Hu Li bowed deeply.
“Never seen your true appearance, especially with your current disguise. You must have your reasons.”
Xu Haoming of the Forging Hall—he was a big name!
Even within the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion, many of the weapons and talismans came directly from his hands.
Only the Pavilion’s top founders—actual Foundation Establishment cultivators—were qualified to deal with him.
As for Hu Li?
He was just a floor manager.
Even hearing the name Xu Haoming from the Pavilion’s owners had been a stroke of luck!
“Hmm.”
Yu Xian nodded, hands behind his back.
“I’m not here on business. Just browsing. Might sell a few items too. Tell me—how much is your Pavilion willing to pay?”
He paused, then added,
“Also… why exactly is the third floor off-limits?”
