The pressure on Jiang Huyuan and Feng Tianxiang surged instantly.
They exchanged glances and understood each other.
Hold the line! They would still focus all efforts on killing Myriad Souls Daoist!
The other three, even if they appeared to be going all out, weren’t truly fighting with their lives.
As long as they injured Myriad Souls Daoist enough to make him feel the loss and withdraw to preserve his soul banner, they might turn the tide!
The battle between six Nascent Soul cultivators raged in the skies ten thousand feet high, booming like thunder.
…
A day and a half later!
Yu Xian and Zheng Huo arrived at full speed.
By now, Baiyun Sect had fallen. Many cultivators had already rushed into the sect’s territory.
Spirit herbs, pills, beasts, the Treasure Vault, Scripture Pavilion, Alchemy Hall, Artifact Refining Hall — countless opportunities and treasures! How much one grabbed depended entirely on their abilities!
Yu Xian and Zheng Huo charged forward amidst the chaos. With no clear identification, no one could tell whether they were Baiyun Sect disciples or rogue cultivators. No one cared anymore.
Yu Xian’s eyes were filled with worry as he charged straight toward the Baiyun Sect’s outer Alchemy Hall.
The entire Alchemy Hall was already in ruins.
Everything had been looted, ransacked, and destroyed. Even now, a few low-level rogue cultivators were still scouring the area for anything that might have been missed.
Yu Xian searched desperately, even rushing into the back courtyard — but it had been leveled to the ground.
Still, he saw no trace of Xiao Wusheng.
Was his master dead or alive?
Yu Xian felt a fire burning in his heart — he was growing more anxious by the second.
“Brother Yu!”
Seeing that Yu Xian was growing more and more frantic, about to release his suppressed cultivation to search faster, Zheng Huo quickly called out, “Don’t be too worried! We’ve seen plenty of corpses on the way here, but none belonged to your master. Clearly, he’s escaped safely!”
Yu Xian paused. His anxious expression softened slightly.
He took a deep breath and nodded. “Yes! My master is wise. He must have escaped long ago!”
BOOM!
Just then, a thunderous explosion shook the heavens.
In the sky, the wild laughter of Myriad Souls Daoist echoed.
“Ah!! Senior Brother!! I swear I will avenge you!!”
A heart-wrenching scream followed.
A beam of light shot across the sky like a shooting star and disappeared into the distant horizon.
Yu Xian and Zheng Huo both looked up.
They didn’t know what had just happened, but they both had the same thought:
The high-end power of Baiyun Sect… had lost. They were dead.
Baiyun Sect had no more hope. It had fallen.
But Yu Xian didn’t linger. He resumed searching for his master’s trail.
Zheng Huo followed closely behind.
They spent two full hours combing the entire Alchemy Hall, running into several rogue cultivators still searching for treasures or pills. But they found no trace of Xiao Wusheng.
Eventually, Yu Xian stopped.
Zheng Huo stood beside him.
“My master must’ve escaped,” Yu Xian said, his voice calm but his gaze resolute. “He escaped for sure. Now, we need to focus on survival.”
Seeing that Yu Xian had regained his rationality, Zheng Huo beamed and nodded repeatedly. “Brother Yu speaks the truth!”
“All rogue cultivators, assemble at the central plaza in half an hour!”
After two days of looting, Baiyun Sect had been stripped clean.
The sky battle was over, and a loud voice echoed throughout the land, calling everyone to regroup.
Yu Xian and Zheng Huo looked up, then glanced at each other before quickly leaving.
Baiyun Sect was gone. His master was missing.
If they waited for the rogue cultivators to regroup, they’d only be exposed — there would be no escape.
That half-hour wasn’t just a call to gather — it was a window to escape.
Clearly, the Nascent Soul and Core Formation rogue cultivators weren’t interested in chasing the low-level disciples. If they wanted to run, they could.
Only those in the Core and Nascent Soul stages truly mattered in a sect.
…
That night.
In a forest two thousand li from Baiyun Sect, Yu Xian and Zheng Huo sat across a campfire.
Yu Xian was calm on the outside, but deep in his eyes, concern still lingered.
Zheng Huo gently said, “Brother Yu, your master must be fine. Don’t worry too much.”
Yu Xian let out a slow breath. “I know. My master will be okay.”
He suppressed his worry and returned to clarity.
He knew he would slowly search for his master… even if the chance was slim.
And he would never forget the rogue cultivator alliance.
“Brother Yu, actually… I should be calling you ‘Brother,’ not the other way around.”
Yu Xian looked at Zheng Huo calmly. “I’m much younger than you.”
“Huh?”
Zheng Huo blinked, then smiled happily.
Of course he knew Yu Xian was much younger — he’d just pretended not to. After all, calling him “Brother” never hurt.
Now that Yu Xian brought it up himself, it was far better than Zheng Huo having to ask.
“I’m over sixty,” said Zheng Huo. “And you’re only twenty, so yes, you’re my younger brother.”
Yu Xian nodded. “That’s right. My name isn’t Xu Haoming. It’s Yu Xian. Yu as in blessing, Xian as in envy.”
Zheng Huo was stunned, then sat upright and respectfully replied, “Brother Yu, my name is Zheng Huo. Zheng as in upright, Huo as in flame.”
“Brother Zheng, we’re friends now,” said Yu Xian calmly. “If you ever need anything, I, Yu Xian, will stake my life to help.”
Zheng Huo’s heart tensed. He understood the weight of that promise.
Though Yu Xian spoke lightly, he meant every word.
He responded firmly: “Brother Yu, if you’re ever in trouble, I, Zheng Huo, will aid you to the death — no matter what!”
Yu Xian nodded. “Good. Actually… I do have something to ask. Would Brother Zheng accompany me to Medicine King Valley?”
“Medicine King Valley?”
Zheng Huo blinked in confusion. “That’s over seventy thousand li away. Why go there? Besides, if I’m right, now that Baiyun Sect has fallen, the rogue cultivators might next target either Gui Ling Sect or Medicine King Valley. Going there could be dangerous.”
Yu Xian poked the fire and said softly, “Medicine King Valley is the only place where I might find my master. If I can’t find him there… then so be it.”
If Xiao Wusheng survived, he’d surely head to Medicine King Valley.
Yu Xian firmly believed that.
So he too would go. If his master had gone there, he might be able to find him in the surrounding regions.
If not…
Then it was truly fate. Everything would be left to destiny.
Even then, he would continue cultivating, seeking his master, and seeking vengeance!
One of the Baiyun Sect inner disciples bore a strong resemblance to the man who killed the old man beneath the elm tree. But now, Yu Xian had no chance to find him.
So he would search slowly — but never give up.
“I see.”
Zheng Huo nodded decisively. “I’ll go with you. The world is wide — why not go wherever we please?”
“Thank you, Brother Zheng.”
Yu Xian smiled, a bit embarrassed. He pulled out a storage pouch.
It was from Qu Long.
“I’m giving you this,” he said. “It belonged to Qu Long.”
He had slain four Foundation Establishment cultivators recently but hadn’t had time to check their loot. Still, since Qu Long had a grudge with Zheng Huo, this was only right.
Zheng Huo frowned. “What do you mean by this?”
Yu Xian blinked. “I mean, I’m giving this to you.”
Zheng Huo saw his sincere expression — no tricks, no tests. Just a friend giving a gift.
Still, Zheng Huo shook his head. “You killed Qu Long, not me. I didn’t contribute. How could I accept your loot? That’s your reward.”
He chuckled. “But… if you don’t need his ‘Flame Dragon Piercing God Technique,’ maybe you could let me study it?”
Yu Xian laughed and tossed the pouch into Zheng Huo’s lap.
“We’re friends, right? I don’t need it. It’s yours. Let’s rest here for three days to recover. Then we’ll head for Medicine King Valley. How’s that sound?”
Zheng Huo looked at the pouch in his lap with mixed feelings.
But finally, he nodded with calm determination.
“Alright. Three days. Wherever you go, I’ll follow, Brother Yu.”
