Deep within the mine.
In one of the forked passages, Yu Xian sat cross-legged, holding a spirit stone in each hand, cultivating without any reservation.
With over 300 spirit stones now in his possession, Yu Xian finally felt rich. His cultivation became bold and unrestrained, expanding his qi sea and condensing spiritual energy.
In just three short days, his qi sea had expanded again, reaching a width of one foot and five inches.
At the same time, the density of his qi sea had noticeably increased.
After an hour, when his qi sea was full, Yu Xian opened his eyes and took out the Ten Basic Spells to begin learning more techniques.
He had already mastered the Lesser Five Elements Technique.
Offensive spells: Fireball, Wind Blade, Golden Light.
Defensive spells: Earth Shield, Wood Spirit Technique.
Healing spells: Water Healing, Wood Spirit Technique.
Among them, Lesser Wood Spirit Technique was particularly special. The wood element spell was most attuned to him.
He only needed to silently recite the incantation and wave his hand to cast it — no hand seals required — as if he were naturally attuned to it!
This technique could defend, heal, and even had minor offensive power—truly an all-purpose spell.
But when it came to spells, the more the better — one could never know what would be useful.
It’s well known that some spells counter others.
If you know more spells, you’re more likely to have one to counter your opponent during a battle. That could give you an edge — or even make you invincible.
The Ten Basic Spells were taught to all Outer Sect disciples of the Baiyun Sect.
Earth Spike, Wood Armor, Swift Wind Step, Blackwater Cannon, Fire Serpent Spell…
Ten spells in total, and each of them looked far superior to the Lesser Five Elements.
After all, it was a major sect. Even the basic spells given to Outer Sect disciples were far beyond what wandering cultivators could hope to learn.
Yu Xian let out a slow breath, calmed his mind, and began cultivating the first spell — Earth Spike.
The incident with Zhao Mulin hadn’t resulted in the large-scale investigation Yu Xian had expected — not even a ripple.
So all his prior cautious actions seemed like a waste of effort.
Still, Yu Xian had no regrets. “Better safe than sorry,” as the saying goes. He remained just as cautious as before.
He hadn’t exchanged the Fiery Sun Essence Stone, nor had he used or refined any of the magical treasures he’d obtained.
He was still observing.
The rumor was that Zhao Mulin had run away with the extracted fiery sun ores.
As a result, the overseer of the Fiery Sun mining area had changed — now it was Old Zhang.
Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.
Inside his room, Yu Xian had consumed over 300 spirit stones and various elixirs during that time.
His qi sea had expanded by another half a foot, now capable of holding much more spiritual energy.
It was also thicker and denser, faintly showing signs of liquefaction.
He had reached the peak of the early Qi Condensation stage, on the verge of breaking through to mid-stage Qi Condensation!
Zhao Mulin’s leftover elixirs and spirit stones had helped immensely.
Yu Xian slowly opened his eyes and calmly looked toward the door.
At his current cultivation level, he could clearly hear footsteps outside.
Three breaths later, a heavy knock echoed at the door.
“Yu Xian! It’s time to hand over your fiery sun ore, do you know that!?”
Yu Xian frowned slightly.
If he remembered correctly, tomorrow was the due date.
And even if a disciple submitted late, it was common to allow a few days’ grace.
But this Old Zhang was pestering him like a debt collector.
Just because he refused to bribe Overseer Huang, he had been assigned to a waste mine, and now he was constantly being harassed?
Were they trying to force him out of the Baiyun Sect?!
Yu Xian’s eyes flashed coldly.
Having already killed two people, he was beginning to change.
He may only be fifteen, but he had become mature.
Taking a deep breath, he pulled out a Fiery Sun Essence Stone, got up, and opened the door.
“Yu Xian, if you don’t turn in the essence stone today, you—”
Old Zhang’s face wore a sneer, ready to kick Yu Xian out, but the next moment, his voice faltered.
Yu Xian’s expression was indifferent as he tossed him a fiery sun essence stone and said coldly:
“Take it.”
Then he slammed the door shut, leaving Old Zhang dumbfounded.
He actually dug up another one…
That brat…
Old Zhang looked at the stone in his hand, his eyelid twitching.
A waste mine — and he’d gotten a spirit ore two months in a row.
From the look on his face, it seemed like he could do it again next month too!
This won’t do…
If Yu Xian stayed longer and Senior Brother Huang came by to find him still around, his position as overseer would be in danger!
“You little brat… you’re digging your own grave…”
Eyes glinting coldly, Old Zhang pocketed the essence stone and left.
Inside, Yu Xian took out his storage pouch and hid it in his clothes.
Half a month had passed. The Zhao Mulin incident had long blown over.
That meant the remaining Fiery Sun Essence Stones and the Fiery Sun Essence Jade could now be safely exchanged.
Yu Xian could feel that he had hit a bottleneck in his cultivation.
If he relied solely on absorbing spiritual energy, who knew how long it would take to reach mid-stage Qi Condensation?
If he had no resources, he would suffer through it.
But since he did have them, he’d better exchange them for elixirs or whatever he needed!
He pushed open the door and strode toward the teleportation array, leaving immediately.
Just like last time, he arrived at the Hundred Mines Trade Hall and went straight to the Blacksmith Pavilion.
The same man was still there.
“Hm? You again, little brother.”
The man looked surprised, then grinned.
“Only fifteen days and you already have more goods?”
Yu Xian looked at the man, thought for a moment, and then asked:
“How much for Fiery Sun Essence Jade?”
He would sell it eventually, so hiding it served no purpose.
“What did you say?”
The man thought he misheard.
“Did you say… Essence Jade, not Essence Stone?”
“Yes, Essence Jade.”
Yu Xian nodded seriously.
“How much are you offering?”
The man’s expression changed. He glanced around and then hurried out from behind the counter.
“Come with me, let’s talk privately.”
Yu Xian furrowed his brow and quietly gripped a Golden Light Slash talisman, then nodded.
The man led Yu Xian into a side room.
But he didn’t show any signs of trying to rob him — instead, he looked ecstatic.
“You really dug up a Fiery Sun Essence Jade!?”
“Yes. What’s it worth?”
Yu Xian asked again.
“Kid, you’re amazing! What’s your name? I’m Xu Haoming, from the Blacksmith Pavilion.”
Yu Xian replied calmly:
“Yu Xian.”
“Yu Xian, nice name.”
Xu Haoming smiled.
“Brother Yu, no need to be so cautious. I’m known for being honest. If it’s really a Fiery Sun Essence Jade, I’ll pay 500 spirit stones!”
“The entire mine might only produce one or two of those. And you’re offering just 500?”
Yu Xian rolled his eyes.
“You’re trying to rob me blind, huh?”
Did this guy really think he was some clueless teenager?
“Ah? Haha, nothing gets past you, Brother Yu…”
Xu Haoming laughed awkwardly and quickly corrected himself.
“800. I’ll give you 800 spirit stones. That’s already a very high price.”
800 was already more than Yu Xian had expected.
But he still hesitated for a moment, just long enough to make Xu Haoming nervous — then finally nodded.
“Alright, I trust you.”
Then Yu Xian reached into his robe and retrieved the Fiery Sun Essence Jade from his storage pouch.
The entire room burst with radiant light.
