Second Chief Han Lei walked happily toward the outside, preparing to return to his own courtyard. Before he could step out the door, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his waist and ribs. The girl he had been gripping earlier couldn’t hurt him then, but now that she was tucked under his arm, she had actually bitten off a chunk of flesh from Han Lei’s waist.
The girl, struggling desperately, spat out the blood and flesh from her mouth and was about to bite again.
She had already given up on survival. Having fallen into the hands of these demons, she could only live a fate worse than death. Rather than be violated by the bandits, she might as well bite one of them to death first.
One bite couldn’t kill a person. Never mind Han Lei, this tower-like strong man – even an ordinary bandit couldn’t be killed by a girl’s single bite. However, while she couldn’t bite someone to death, she could certainly provoke their fury.
The Second Chief, already famous for his violent temper, flew into a rage after being bitten and having a chunk of flesh torn off. He roared and threw the Zhao family girl away. Before she could hit the ground, his bowl-sized fist came thundering out.
Han Lei was already immensely strong with heavy fists. One punch from him could kill a horse. If he hit her, that Zhao family girl wouldn’t survive.
Everything happened too quickly. Even Liao Jiuming and Lu Hai hadn’t expected it, and Xu Yan, standing in the crowd, certainly hadn’t either. Even if he found a stone, it would be too late.
Han Lei’s punch did indeed strike the girl, but at the moment of impact he also came to his senses and reluctantly held back half his strength. They hadn’t even entered the bridal chamber yet – if she died, his bandit wife would be gone too.
Even holding back, Han Lei’s punch struck the girl square in the face. Her nose bridge was directly smashed flat, her mouth full of silver teeth scattered, and she crashed into the wall, immediately falling unconscious. Half her face swelled up enormously, looking just like a pig’s head.
Shaking his hand, Han Lei was also filled with regret. Cursing and swearing, he walked over to take a look. The girl who had been beautiful as a flower just moments ago now had no teeth left and looked like a pig’s head, half-dead. She didn’t look human but rather like a ghost. He immediately lost interest, kicked her once, then roared at the old steward who was acting as an elder: “What kind of daughter does your family have, biting people? Old fool, today Second Master will slaughter you first!”
Roaring like a giant bear, Han Lei grabbed the old steward’s neck. Lu Hai stood to the side with his arms crossed, watching the show with obvious glee, while Liao Jiuming even turned his face away, not even looking at the Zhao family’s old steward.
Whether it was the Zhao family daughter, the old steward, or those guards, they had all been captured by the bandits and brought to the stronghold. They had long since become enemies. Whether they lived or died, Flying Centipede didn’t care at all.
The old steward, lifted directly from his seat, opened his mouth wide but couldn’t even cry out. After kicking his legs twice, his head tilted to one side – he had been strangled to death by Han Lei.
The former wedding hall became a mourning hall in moments. Of the two remaining Zhao family members, one was dead and one severely injured, but no one built a mourning hall for them. The old steward’s corpse was thrown out of the wooden house by the furious Han Lei, landing far away. The Second Chief still wasn’t satisfied and roared viciously: “Are there any Zhao family guards still alive? All of you bastards get over here – I’m going to strangle you all!”
“We… we killed our companions and already joined the stronghold!”
The few Zhao family guards who had killed their companions immediately became terrified. Some begged for mercy, others questioned him – all three or four were badly frightened.
Whether begging for mercy or questioning, these people all met miserable deaths. The Second Chief had nowhere to vent his anger, so they became unlucky.
Watching the Second Chief chase down those guards, Lu Hai felt extremely pleased, thinking to himself that it was good they died – it saved him from feeling envious. He walked to the corner and glanced at the unconscious woman, snorted, and paid her no more attention.
That woman was already ruined. He, Nine-Headed Snake, had no appetite for her.
In the chaotic great hall, several minor leaders gathered near Liao Jiuming and asked with grins: “Head Chief, what should we do with that woman?”
“Drag her away. She’s yours as a reward.”
Liao Jiuming looked at the half-dead woman with disgust and waved his hand. Those minor leaders immediately thanked him with shameless grins, and several of them dragged the woman away from the great hall.
Wild dogs aren’t picky about their food.
The wooden house was chaotic inside, and even more chaotic outside. A group of bandits watched the Second Chief chase down the guards, while many others followed the minor leaders with snickers toward deserted areas. In the crowd, Xu Yan’s brow furrowed even deeper as he followed behind the minor leaders dragging the woman away.
If there was a chance, Xu Yan hoped he could save that pitiful girl.
“Little Taoist, where are you going?”
His steps halted, and a flash of coldness passed through Xu Yan’s eyes. After turning around, he resumed his honest appearance and said: “Just watching the excitement. Third Chief, is there something you need?”
Standing behind Xu Yan was Lu Hai, who had just walked out of the wooden house.
“The Head Chief is happy today and wants to reward everyone. Your kitchen will be busy.” Lu Hai stared at the little Taoist with a cold smile. “You are a Taoist after all. Some things are better left unseen. Come on, let’s go to your kitchen. I’m in a good mood today and want to eat something good.”
Yuan Mountain Stronghold’s kitchen was also the kitchen for the three chiefs. Whenever any of the three chiefs wanted to eat something, the kitchen had to give their all.
Not expecting Lu Hai to call him at this moment, Xu Yan’s brow moved imperceptibly, but he still maintained his foolish smile: “What would the Third Chief like to eat? Our kitchen can prepare it and send it over.”
“I want to eat that black pig you brought.” Lu Hai said with a cold laugh, his eyes carrying undisguised provocation.
He had been somewhat busy these past two months and had temporarily forgotten about this little Taoist, Xu Yan. Seeing him today, he immediately remembered being sprayed with pig urine, so today he immediately demanded to eat that little black pig.
“The pig is still small. It’s not suitable to eat now. In a few more months it should be fat enough.” Xu Yan blinked and said very seriously, though from the corner of his eye he could no longer see the Zhao family girl and those bandits.
“I want to eat it today!” Lu Hai snorted coldly. “Come on, let’s go to the kitchen. You don’t need to do anything – I’ll personally slaughter that beast.”
Pushing Xu Yan, Lu Hai said they were going, but he was actually escorting him. There were also several cooks watching the excitement nearby. Hearing that the Third Chief wanted to eat pork, they immediately followed along with schadenfreude, flattering Lu Hai while boasting about how fragrant black pork was.
Xu Yan was pushed and had no choice but to walk toward the kitchen himself. His hands in his sleeves were already clenched tightly into fists.
Since arriving at Yuan Mountain Stronghold, the little Taoist finally encountered a deadly crisis. With his own safety at risk, Xu Yan was pushed toward the kitchen, and he was powerless to help the Zhao family daughter.
Xu Yan would never allow anyone to eat his little black pig. If the other party really intended to kill the pig, he might have no choice but to fight desperately. His stone-throwing skills might not match an innate martial artist, but Xu Yan was confident he could fight to mutual destruction.
“Where is that black pig?” Upon arriving at the kitchen, Lu Hai’s first task was to find the pig.
“Over here! Third Chief, just watch – we’ll do the killing.” The fat head chef approached with a beaming smile, flattering him.
“No need!” Lu Hai waved his large hand, then looked coldly at Xu Yan and said in a chilling voice: “Never mind killing pigs – when I, Nine-Headed Snake, want someone dead, they have to die!”
