Chapter 98: Treasure Pavilion
From a distance, the Treasure Pavilion seemed unassuming, but as Yi Qianmo approached, its grandeur revealed itself. According to the boy accompanying him, the inner mansion held only three such buildings: the Mansion Master’s hall, the Pill Pavilion, and this Treasure Pavilion.
Arriving at the pavilion’s entrance, they were greeted by a stern Deacon standing guard. The boy instructed, “Hand over your token to the Deacon. That will grant you entry.”
Without hesitation, Yi Qianmo stepped forward, presented his token, and was promptly granted access.
The exterior of the Treasure Pavilion suggested a modest two-story structure, but stepping inside was like entering another world. Yi Qianmo found himself surrounded by radiant light and towering bookshelves that seemed to stretch infinitely, shimmering with a mystical glow. Other figures moved about, but they were mere silhouettes, their identities obscured.
Walking up to a bookshelf, Yi Qianmo noticed intricate carvings and magical restrictions on the treasures. To access an item, one had to insert their nameplate, which deducted the required contribution points to release the restriction.
Yi Qianmo made his way to the treasure section, intent on finding a Pill Furnace. This area emitted an even brighter glow, teeming with the aura of spiritual tools and treasures. Among them, one sword radiated a power far beyond the rest, classified as a treasure above spiritual rank. However, its exchange cost was an astronomical ten million contribution points, far beyond Yi Qianmo’s reach.
Turning his attention to the Pill Furnaces, he found only eight available. They ranged from lower-grade spiritual tools to fine-grade, with the most expensive requiring ten thousand contribution points.
Yi Qianmo hesitated, weighing his options, when suddenly, a familiar presence stirred in his chest. Old Bai, his mischievous companion, burst out in a flash of light, darting toward a specific Pill Furnace.
“Don’t cause trouble!” Yi Qianmo admonished, grabbing Old Bai and stuffing it back into his chest. But the creature was insistent, pointing fervently at a dusty, lower-grade Pill Furnace labeled the Clear Source Furnace, priced at one thousand contribution points.
“You want me to exchange for this?” Yi Qianmo asked skeptically.
“Chirp, chirp!” Old Bai responded with enthusiastic nods.
The Clear Source Furnace looked unimpressive, its dim glow and worn patterns suggesting mediocrity. Still, Yi Qianmo trusted Old Bai’s instincts. Placing his nameplate into the slot, he activated the exchange.
With a hiss, the restriction dissolved, and the ancient Pill Furnace materialized. As Yi Qianmo infused it with spiritual power, faint patterns glowed, and an internal fire array ignited, though the flames were weaker than expected.
Old Bai’s reaction was immediate. Its tiny eyes sparkled with excitement as it eagerly embraced the Pill Furnace, attempting to swallow it whole before thinking better of it.
Resigned, Yi Qianmo decided to procure another Pill Furnace for himself. He eyed a mid-quality option for seven thousand contribution points. However, before he could act, Old Bai leapt out again, clutching the Clear Source Furnace and blocking his path.
“What do you want now?” Yi Qianmo groaned, grabbing the creature.
“Chirp, chirp!” Old Bai’s protests were fierce, insisting that Yi Qianmo stick with the Clear Source Furnace.
“You can’t dictate my choices!” Yi Qianmo retorted, but after a brief struggle, he reluctantly conceded.
With his remaining contribution points, Yi Qianmo turned to the spirit medicine section, purchasing materials to refine the Body Origin Fixing Pill. Though he already had a set from Su Yucheng’s storage bag, he wanted a backup in case his first attempt failed.
The purchase cost him six thousand points, leaving only three thousand. Next, he acquired the Yandang Formula, a foundational Tao School technique costing two thousand points. This technique, part of the royal family’s heritage, would serve as a cover for his real practice of the Great Easy Sword Concealment.
By the time Yi Qianmo exited the Treasure Pavilion, only one thousand contribution points remained.
“Brother, shall we head to the Tao School now?” the boy asked nervously.
Yi Qianmo shook his head. “No, we’re going to the Pill Pavilion.”
“Pill Pavilion?” The boy looked stunned. “You can’t just go there! Entry requires an invitation from a Pill Master, or you must request pill refinement.”
Unfazed, Yi Qianmo dismissed the boy’s concerns. “Let’s go. What’s the worst that could happen?”
The boy hesitated, then warned, “Offending the sect master will make things very difficult for you.”
“I’m not afraid, so why are you?” Yi Qianmo said with a faint smile. “Now lead the way to the Pill Pavilion.”
