Chapter 94: I’m Going After You
After much back-and-forth, both sides laid their cards on the table. Finally, Su Yucheng presented the Tianyuan Decree, inviting Yi Qianmo to join the inner mansion.
Yet, Yi Qianmo remained indifferent, leaving both Su Yucheng and Su Muyu deeply disappointed. Minister Professor Yu’s proposed conditions had rendered the Tianyuan Decree little more than an accessory.
The other candidates were stunned. They had heard whispers of the rivalry between the Mansion Master’s faction and the royal family, but it had always been shrouded in secrecy. Today, however, it was on full display.
Where some were in awe, others were seething. Among them was Wu Qing, who watched with clenched fists as Yi Qianmo claimed the spotlight that should have been his. He had expected to stand at the top, yet Yi Qianmo had taken the honor with effortless ease.
Xu Zhou, too, felt the sting of resentment. His lowered head hid a simmering rage, knowing that his feud with Yi Qianmo was far from over.
As the audience whispered, speculation grew louder.
“Which side do you think he’ll choose?” someone asked.
“Definitely the Mansion Master’s faction. The royal family doesn’t share their techniques openly, and Yi Qianmo already has no standing with the Grand Princess after his dismissal.”
“That’s true. If it weren’t for his connection to Qin Land’s Tang Gate, the royal family wouldn’t even bother with him.”
While everyone debated, Yi Qianmo stood apart, seemingly unbothered. His relaxed demeanor left many surprised—it looked as if this monumental decision had nothing to do with him.
“If someone handed him sunflower seeds right now, he’d probably start cracking them,” one spectator joked.
The confrontation between the two factions eventually reached a stalemate.
Su Muyu and Su Yucheng, though desperate, knew the odds were against them. Meanwhile, Minister Professor Yu seemed poised for victory, ready to claim Yi Qianmo for the Mansion Master’s faction.
Breaking the silence, Yi Qianmo finally spoke.
“Both offers are excellent,” he said, “but I need time to consider.”
The hall erupted. Minister Professor Yu’s confident smile faltered, but he quickly recovered.
“Of course,” he replied. “Take your time, but please decide before we return to the academy.”
Yi Qianmo nodded, stepping aside with an air of nonchalance.
When Wu Qing’s turn came, he approached with far more humility. Despite Su Muyu’s attempts to win him over, Wu Qing chose to focus on magic under the Mansion Master’s faction.
Minister Professor Yu beamed with satisfaction. Su Muyu, on the other hand, grew increasingly uneasy, realizing the royal family’s position was weakening.
Next, Guan Shanqing took his place. As someone with golden spiritual energy, he became the center of attention. Both factions approached him, but Guan Shanqing made it clear: his decision would depend entirely on Yi Qianmo’s choice.
Although this frustrated both sides, neither dared to press further.
When Xu Zhou’s turn came, Su Yucheng smiled for the first time in hours. Xu Zhou, after all, was a staunch supporter of the prince.
But to everyone’s shock, Xu Zhou declared his intention to join the Mansion Master’s faction, citing their superior magical techniques.
Su Yucheng’s face fell. “Xu Zhou, what are you saying?”
“I said I want to study magic,” Xu Zhou replied, his tone firm.
Enraged, Su Yucheng began to argue, but Su Muyu quickly intervened, cutting him off.
“Xu Zhou is free to choose his path,” she said diplomatically, masking her disappointment.
Minister Professor Yu, meanwhile, savored his unexpected victory.
As the fifth candidate stepped forward, Yi Qianmo suddenly interrupted.
“I’ve made my decision,” he announced, drawing all eyes to him.
Minister Professor Yu approached eagerly. “Young Master Yi, will you focus on magic or cultivation?”
Yi Qianmo glanced at Xu Zhou, his smile fading.
“I’ll focus on magic,” he said, “but I refuse to practice alongside him.”
The hall fell silent.
Xu Zhou, stunned, stammered, “What… what do you mean?”
Yi Qianmo’s tone was cold. “I don’t want to see him again—ever.”
Xu Zhou’s face twisted in disbelief. “You’re targeting me!” he shouted.
“Yes, I am,” Yi Qianmo replied calmly. “I despise traitors.”
Minister Professor Yu looked conflicted, but before he could respond, Su Yucheng seized the opportunity.
“My royal family has no objections,” he said.
Panic overtook Xu Zhou as he turned to Minister Professor Yu, pleading for mercy.
“Minister Professor, please!”
Minister Professor Yu sighed heavily. “It seems there’s no other way.”
With a wave of his hand, he ordered, “Remove him from the Cloud Boat.”
Two Black Armored Guards stepped forward, grabbing Xu Zhou by the arms.
“No! You can’t do this!” Xu Zhou screamed as he was dragged away. His cries echoed through the air, growing fainter until he was cast off the boat, left to fend for himself.
