Chapter 85: Golden Giant Ape
Yi Qianmo could barely hold on when everything around him suddenly brightened. The oppressive water pressure vanished, replaced by a fierce wind rushing past. It took him a moment to realize—the dragon turtle had leaped out of the lake, soaring dozens of yards into the sky.
“Are we done yet?!”
A deep fear gripped Yi Qianmo’s heart.
Clinging to the dragon turtle’s belly, he knew that if he fell from this height, hitting the water would be as lethal as smashing into stone.
“Just a little longer, my lord! Hold on a bit more!”
Taoist Qingmu’s voice resonated through the Repel Evil sword.
The weapon was now blood-red, filled with swirling souls that tore at the dragon turtle’s flesh, absorbing its essence. Despite the sword’s power, the dragon turtle’s immense body was far from being drained. Yi Qianmo, however, was reaching his limit. Before the sword could finish its work, the dragon turtle would surely end him.
As the massive beast began its descent, the wind howled violently. Sensing Yi Qianmo’s hesitation, Taoist Qingmu urged, “Endure, my lord! Victory is near!”
But Yi Qianmo no longer trusted the spirit within the sword. He activated its mark, pulling with all his might to release the Repel Evil.
A piercing wail echoed through the air as the sword tore free.
The dragon turtle roared in agony. An explosive force erupted from its body, flinging Yi Qianmo into the sky like a rag doll.
With a deafening crash, the dragon turtle plunged back into the lake, sending massive waves rippling outward. Yi Qianmo hit the water moments later, his body trembling from the impact. Blood sprayed from his mouth as the sheer force left him gravely injured.
Before he could recover, the dragon turtle locked onto him, its massive jaws opening wide. Yi Qianmo, barely able to move, watched in despair as his doom approached.
Suddenly, a dark shadow darted through the water. It grabbed him and pulled him away from the dragon turtle’s reach, using the waves to propel them to safety.
“You’re alive?!”
Yi Qianmo stared in disbelief at the familiar figure beside him.
“Brother Su, you’re alive too! I thought I’d never see you again!”
The one who had saved him was none other than Guan Shanqing. His movements in the water were swift and agile, unlike his awkward demeanor on land.
“What happened back there?” Yi Qianmo asked, still dazed.
“The monkey king returned to its roots!”
Guan Shanqing explained, “When the dragon turtle almost swallowed me, the monkey king tore out from inside its belly, leaving a massive bloody hole. It transformed into its true form—a golden giant ape. It must have royal blood.”
“Golden Giant Ape!”
Yi Qianmo’s eyes widened. The thought struck him: Could it be? The legendary Golden Giant Ape bloodline within the Yanshan Mountains?!
Before he could delve further, Guan Shanqing pointed toward the distance.
“The dragon turtle is coming back!”
Despite the warning, Yi Qianmo remained calm. This time, he held the Repel Evil sword firmly. Its blood-red glow radiated an oppressive aura, making even Guan Shanqing uneasy.
“When it gets close, take me to the wound on its belly,” Yi Qianmo instructed.
Guan Shanqing hesitated, unable to believe what he was hearing, but he nodded. As the dragon turtle approached, its lantern-like eyes shone with a deadly intent.
But to their surprise, the massive beast paused. Without warning, it turned around and sank back into the depths of the lake.
“What just happened?”
Guan Shanqing looked at Yi Qianmo, then at the sword in his hand, utterly baffled.
Yi Qianmo smirked. “It’s not afraid of me—it’s afraid of this sword. That bloody hole can heal, but the curse from Repel Evil runs deep.”
Once the immediate threat passed, the two swam to shore, gasping for breath. However, they were far from safe.
With a deafening boom, a three-meter-tall giant ape landed before them. Its golden fur shimmered under the sunlight, while its blood-red eyes radiated pure hostility.
“Monkey King!”
Guan Shanqing’s legs gave out beneath him as fear overtook him.
This Golden Giant Ape, though technically a second-grade spirit beast, had strength that rivaled third-grade beasts. Its overwhelming aura made it hard for Guan Shanqing to even breathe.
“Leave now, or die,” Yi Qianmo said coldly, gripping the Repel Evil.
His calm demeanor stunned Guan Shanqing. “Brother Su… are you insane? That’s a Golden Giant Ape!”
What shocked him even more was the ape’s reaction. It hesitated. Despite its immense power, fear flickered in its eyes.
The Golden Giant Ape roared and charged, its massive fist aimed directly at Yi Qianmo. Its golden fur shimmered with spiritual energy, a testament to its unparalleled strength.
Yi Qianmo didn’t flinch. At the last moment, he dodged the strike, dragging Guan Shanqing with him and tossing him into the lake.
Left alone, Yi Qianmo raised the Repel Evil, now glowing with an ominous blood-red light. He whispered a single word:
“Xun—the Wind.”
A light wind began to swirl around him, growing stronger with each passing second. The sword’s malevolent energy flowed into Yi Qianmo’s body.
In an instant, black scales grew over his pale skin, and his body expanded to a towering ten feet. He became a monstrous figure, exuding the aura of an evil god. Around him, vengeful spirits howled and clawed, their malice tangible.
Guan Shanqing, watching from the water, was utterly stunned.
“Foundation Establishment… This is the aura of the Foundation Establishment Stage! What in the world?!”
The Golden Giant Ape charged again, its body radiating golden light.
Yi Qianmo tightened his grip on the sword. The wind around him grew fiercer as he stepped forward, his voice cold and unyielding.
The battlefield was set. An unstoppable force was about to meet an immovable will.
