Chapter 77: The Mysterious Crystal Ball
In the crystal ball’s image, two figures appeared: a chubby man layered in fat and an elderly man dressed in a robe. Yi Qianmo recognized them immediately—Su Yucheng and the old man named Zhou.
The image was alive. Su Yucheng seemed to be speaking to the old man, his face twisted in fury as he flung objects around the room.
“What’s going on?” Yi Qianmo murmured, staring intently at the scene. “Is there any sound?”
Old Bai glared at him, clearly annoyed, before stroking the crystal ball with its tiny, fluffy hands. Moments later, Su Yucheng’s voice rang out:
“After searching for so long, you still haven’t found out who he is? Useless fools! The people from the Blood Demon Sect are focused entirely on me, yet I have nothing! You’re all worthless!”
Hearing Su Yucheng’s enraged voice, Yi Qianmo’s expression shifted. This wasn’t just an ordinary crystal ball—it was revealing events in real time.
The old man, Zhou, responded calmly, “Your Highness, Eighteen reported that the individual is likely connected to the Blood Demon Sect. He also mentioned a connection to someone at the Foundation Establishment stage. If we focus on that, it shouldn’t be difficult to track him down.”
Su Yucheng snarled, “I know he knows that person! But are you suggesting I tell the Blood Demon Sect that my things were taken by their own people? What a joke!”
The old man suggested, “We don’t need to reveal everything. Instead, we spread rumors about the Foundation Establishment member’s connection to the stolen items. Even if the Blood Demon Sect doesn’t believe it, doubts will arise, and they’ll start investigating.”
“Hmm!” Su Yucheng’s anger softened into a smirk. “The Heavenly Demon Pill is lost. This will be hard to explain to my father—after all, he acquired it himself!”
Yi Qianmo’s brows knitted as he muttered, “So, it’s King Yan’s scheme. No wonder this fat man acts so brazenly.”
Suddenly, Su Yucheng and Zhou became alert. Su Yucheng looked around nervously, while Zhou unleashed his spiritual power, holding his sword as if facing a deadly foe.
Yi Qianmo froze, realizing his voice had escaped in a whisper. He gestured frantically to Old Bai, who quickly touched the crystal ball, making the image vanish.
“This thing is incredible!” Yi Qianmo marveled, taking the crystal ball from Old Bai and examining it with newfound enthusiasm.
After some time, curiosity overtook him again. He stroked the crystal ball, trying to summon a new image, but nothing happened.
Old Bai snatched the crystal ball back and tapped it with its stubby arms. A breathtaking scene materialized—a woman sitting naked in a room. Her graceful figure was captivating, and a glowing golden pill floated in front of her, its energy swirling.
“The Heavenly Demon Pill!” Yi Qianmo exclaimed, swallowing hard.
Despite the enchanting view, the woman’s face remained hidden behind a mask, and a blood curse aura obscured any revealing details.
As Yi Qianmo’s interest peaked, the scene abruptly vanished. He frowned. “What happened? Where did it go?”
“Chirp chirp!” Old Bai glared at him accusingly, its deep blue eyes filled with disdain, as if scolding him for being shameless.
Flustered, Yi Qianmo defended himself, “I didn’t mean anything inappropriate! I just wanted to see her real face. People who wear masks usually have something to hide!”
Old Bai’s expression softened, though it still looked at him with mild disdain.
Yi Qianmo’s next request was more personal. “Show me my little sister.”
Old Bai obediently touched the crystal ball, but no image appeared. Confused, Yi Qianmo asked, “Why isn’t it working?”
“Tweet tweet,” Old Bai shrugged, its tiny hands raised helplessly.
Yi Qianmo sighed, “She must have left Yan Kingdom by now. Maybe this thing has a range limit.”
Determined, he tried again. “Show me Grandpa.”
This time, an image formed—his grandfather was meditating, seemingly attempting to break through to the Qi Refining stage. Yi Qianmo felt a wave of relief.
The crystal ball fascinated him more and more. “Why can you use this, but I can’t? What is this thing?” he muttered.
“Chirp chirp chirp,” Old Bai replied in its nonsensical manner.
“Speak normally!” Yi Qianmo snapped, exasperated.
Old Bai barked back with a fierce “Chirp!” but its round, fluffy body made it look more adorable than threatening.
Unable to argue, Yi Qianmo handed the crystal ball back to Old Bai, who promptly swallowed it.
Startled, Yi Qianmo exclaimed, “Why do you eat everything?!”
Old Bai shot him an annoyed glance, spat the crystal ball out, then swallowed it again, as if to say, “I can do as I please.”
The next morning, as Yi Qianmo studied the Disguise Skill, a bell rang, followed by a knock at the door. He opened it to find Zhou Lanting standing there, her wide-brimmed hat casting a shadow over her face.
The memory of her image from the crystal ball made him swallow nervously. Though her face was hidden, her figure was undeniably alluring.
“What’s wrong with your brain?” Zhou Lanting asked bluntly.
“You’re the one with the problem,” Yi Qianmo retorted.
“Then why were you staring at me like that?” she pressed, her tone cold. “Do you like men?”
Caught off guard, Yi Qianmo almost blurted out the truth but held his tongue.
“Anyway,” Zhou Lanting continued, “are you still planning to take the big exam? I’ve fulfilled my duty by getting you to register. From now on, we’ll go our separate ways.”
