Chapter 67: Kneel and Apologize to My Brother!
After a moment of silence, the old man raised his hand, and Yi Qianmo, who had been suspended in the air, fell heavily to the ground.
“Miss, you can put down the dagger now, can’t you?” the old man said, his tone calm but commanding. “We’ve come to take you home.”
“My home is here. I am not going anywhere,” Yi Lingyu retorted sharply, running to Yi Qianmo’s side. “Brother, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Yi Qianmo replied, coughing violently. He looked up at the old man with a flicker of surprise and anger in his eyes.
“If the young lady says that, it puts us in a difficult position,” the old man sighed. “You should think not only of yourself but also of the Yi family. If you refuse to come with us, we’ll face consequences when we return.”
He turned to Yi Danian, his gaze cold and unyielding. “Elder Yi, you should persuade the young lady. After all, what can your Yi family possibly offer her?”
Yi Danian’s face twisted in humiliation. Despite his position, he had no choice but to lower his head. “This is not a decision I can make.”
The old man’s expression darkened. “So, the Yi family intends to oppose us?”
As he spoke, a suffocating pressure radiated from him, forcing everyone to their knees. Yi Danian and the others crumbled under the immense force, unable to resist.
Yi Qianmo, trembling and crouched on the ground, gritted his teeth in frustration. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t move an inch.
“Stop this at once!” Yi Lingyu’s voice cut through the tension as she pressed the dagger to her neck.
“Miss, please don’t make this more difficult,” the old man replied, his tone steady. “I told you—under my watch, you cannot harm yourself. You’ve had enough time to make a choice, but I won’t wait any longer.”
The dagger fell from Yi Lingyu’s trembling hand. She tried to pick it up but found herself frozen in place.
“Old man, if you dare hurt her, I’ll tear you apart!” Yi Qianmo roared, his voice filled with rage, though his body remained bound by the oppressive force.
“A bunch of ants!” Tang Yuan sneered as he stepped forward. “You should look at yourselves before making threats. You’re lucky we’ve shown restraint.”
He raised his hand and slapped Yi Qianmo across the face.
Yi Lingyu immediately shielded her brother. “I will go with you,” she declared firmly. “But you must let them go.”
“Lingyu!” Yi Qianmo’s voice trembled with anger and sorrow.
“You heard me,” Yi Lingyu said, her voice steady but cold. She glared at the old man. “Let them go!”
“If you’d agreed earlier, this would’ve been unnecessary,” the old man said with a faint smile, withdrawing his oppressive aura.
Tang Yuan lowered his hand, hesitating to strike again now that Yi Lingyu had spoken.
“You—kneel down!” Yi Lingyu suddenly commanded, her voice sharp and resolute.
Tang Yuan blinked in disbelief. “Miss, what do you mean?”
“I said, kneel!” she repeated, her tone brooking no argument.
“Miss, please don’t joke with me,” Tang Yuan said with a strained smile. “We’re family. Your last name is Tang—you’re one of us. Once you return, you’ll see there’s no reason to care about—”
“Kneel!” Yi Lingyu roared, her expression fierce like a tigress defending her own.
Tang Yuan clenched his fists but dropped to his knees, his face flushed with humiliation. “May I ask what you command, Miss?”
“Slap!”
Yi Lingyu struck him across the face. The sound echoed through the hall, leaving everyone stunned.
“That was for insulting my Grandpa!” she said coldly.
“Slap!”
A second strike followed. “And this is for insulting my Brother!”
Tang Yuan’s face turned pale. He trembled with rage but dared not retaliate. Her position in the Tang family far exceeded his; even if she killed him, he would have no grounds to protest.
Just as Yi Lingyu raised her hand again, an elder appeared. “Miss, that’s enough,” he said. “Tang Yuan is at fault, but you should also consider the family’s dignity.”
“Slap!”
Yi Lingyu struck Tang Yuan again, her eyes burning with defiance. “Does he represent the Tang family’s dignity?”
The elder frowned but remained silent. Yi Lingyu’s transformation was undeniable—gone was the timid girl who once hid behind Yi Danian. Now, her gaze carried the fierce determination of someone ready to protect her own.
Turning back to Tang Yuan, she said, “If you dare call my brother a beast, then what does that make me? If you insult my Grandpa, what does that make me?”
“Slap! Slap! Slap!”
She continued to strike him until his face was swollen and unrecognizable. Only then did she stop.
“Brother, are you okay?” she asked, turning to Yi Qianmo with concern.
“I’m fine,” he replied, his voice thick with emotion. “But your hand…”
“I’m fine, Brother.” Yi Lingyu clenched her fist. “You and Grandpa have protected me all these years. Now it’s my turn to protect you. As long as I’m here, no one will harm you.”
Yi Qianmo hugged her tightly, his voice breaking. “You silly girl.”
“Brother,” Yi Lingyu said, pulling away, her eyes filled with resolve. “I’ve made my decision. I’m going to the Tang family.”
“What?” Yi Qianmo’s voice trembled.
“I want to grow stronger,” she said, tears streaming down her face. “I don’t want to be a burden. I will protect you and our family.”
Yi Qianmo’s heart ached. He wanted to stop her, but he knew he couldn’t.
Lingyu wiped her tears and turned to the old man. “Let’s go.”
