Chapter 65: Nine Branches of the Yi Family
“The people from the Xuanyuan Sect wouldn’t bother your family for no reason. If they wanted trouble, they’d go straight for you,” Su Muyu said as they hurried back to Green Cloud City.
Yi Qianmo nodded, calming his initial anger. Su Muyu’s logic was sound.
“Think carefully—have you offended anyone besides the Xuanyuan Sect?” she pressed.
“For the past thirteen years, I’ve been locked away in the Yu family’s dungeon. How could I offend anyone?” Yi Qianmo replied coldly.
Su Muyu frowned, mulling over his words. “Then who could it be?”
For a moment, there was only silence between them. Finally, Su Muyu took out a few green crystals and handed them to Yi Qianmo.
“These are spirit stones. Restore your energy. Whoever it is, you can’t face them without being at full strength,” she said with a faint smile.
Yi Qianmo took one of the spirit stones and felt the powerful spiritual energy contained within. As he absorbed the energy, his power began to recover rapidly.
By the time they reached the Yi family estate, Yi Qianmo’s spiritual power had been fully restored.
Inside the Yi Family Hall
“It’s been an entire day! Why haven’t they returned yet?”
The anxious voice broke the tense atmosphere in the hall, where two groups of people were gathered.
On one side were members of the Yi family, their faces tight with worry.
On the other side sat strangers dressed in fine robes, exuding an air of authority. Leading them was an old man with an unfathomable presence. Beside him, a young man with sharp features radiated arrogance.
“Please remain calm,” Yi Danian, seated at the head of the Yi family, said with a forced smile. “Tianyang has gone to find Qianmo. He will return soon.”
The young man sneered. “Remain calm? Do you think we came here to negotiate? Whether he returns or not, we’re taking the girl today!”
Yi Danian’s face darkened. Gripping Yi Lingyu’s trembling hand, he responded, “We’ve already told you—we must wait for her brother to return!”
The young man shot up from his chair, his expression filled with disdain. “Old man, we’ve been polite enough. Don’t test my patience!”
“Tang Yuan, sit down,” the old man ordered, his voice calm yet authoritative.
Tang Yuan reluctantly obeyed, though his anger was evident.
The old man turned to Yi Danian. “As my companion rudely pointed out, time is short. We must take the girl with us. However, we are prepared to compensate you generously.”
Yi Danian’s voice rose, anger trembling in his tone. “This isn’t about compensation! You can’t just take her away without her brother here!”
“Old man, you’re out of your depth,” Tang Yuan growled, standing again.
A Tense Return
A sudden voice from outside interrupted the exchange.
“Try taking her, and I’ll tear you to pieces.”
All heads turned as Yi Qianmo entered the hall, followed by Su Muyu and her guards.
Relief washed over the Yi family members. Yi Lingyu ran to her brother, throwing herself into his arms.
“Brother!” she cried, her voice trembling with fear.
Yi Qianmo held her tightly. “Don’t cry. Without my permission, no one will take you.”
Su Muyu gestured to her guards, who quickly surrounded the hall.
The strangers frowned, their expressions shifting from annoyance to wariness.
Tang Yuan stepped forward, his eyes scanning Yi Qianmo with disdain. “So, you’re Yi Qianmo?”
Yi Qianmo’s gaze was cold. “And what are you supposed to be?”
Tang Yuan’s face darkened. “What did you just say?”
Before he could act, the old man raised a hand, stopping him.
“Young man, do not be hasty. I am an elder of the Tang family of Qin Land.”
A Shocking Revelation
“The Tang family of Qin Land?” Su Muyu’s voice quivered. “Do you mean the Tang family of Xiling?”
The old man smiled. “Indeed. We are the Tang family of Xiling in Qin Land.”
Yi Qianmo looked confused. “And what does your family have to do with us?”
The old man’s gaze shifted to Yi Lingyu. “Your sister is not your sister. She is Tang Qianlan, the youngest daughter of our family.”
Yi Qianmo stiffened. “Are you mad?”
Yi Danian, sitting at the head of the table, sighed heavily. “Qianmo, it’s true. Lingyu… is not your real sister.”
Yi Lingyu clutched Yi Qianmo’s arm, her voice trembling. “Brother, I won’t go. Please, don’t let them take me!”
Yi Qianmo held her protectively, his mind racing.
The old man continued, “Thirteen years ago, the Tang family faced a disaster. To ensure the family’s survival, the old patriarch sent the pregnant young lady away. She gave birth to her daughter in Green Cloud City.”
“And what does this have to do with my Yi family?” Yi Qianmo demanded.
“Because the Tang family was originally one of the Nine Branches of the Yi family,” the old man explained. “To protect themselves, they changed their name to Tang and established the Tang Gate in Qin Land. Your Yi family is also one of the Nine Branches.”
Yi Qianmo’s blood ran cold as the weight of the revelation settled over him.
