Chapter 64: Anyone Who Dares to Touch Her Shall Die!
When Hu Jianren’s severed head rolled to the ground, the crowd froze. No one could have predicted that Yi Qianmo would dare to kill a disciple of the Xuanyuan Sect in front of so many witnesses.
“You little beast! How dare you kill a disciple of the Xuanyuan Sect!”
Elder Wu finally snapped out of his shock as Yi Qianmo calmly sheathed his sword.
“If someone tries to kill me, I must kill them,” Yi Qianmo replied coldly.
“Then why did you say you accepted his apology?” Elder Wu roared, his face twisted with fury.
“I accepted his apology,” Yi Qianmo said calmly, “but I never promised not to kill him. Besides, you broke the agreement first, so I simply responded in kind. Now we’re even.”
“You—!” Elder Wu’s body trembled with rage.
“What? Do you want to kill me now?” Yi Qianmo stepped forward, his gaze unyielding. “Go ahead. Try killing someone here in front of all these people.”
The challenge struck like a blade. Elder Wu spat out a mouthful of blood, his chest heaving with suppressed fury. “You little beast, just you wait!”
“I’ll be waiting,” Yi Qianmo said with a faint smile.
Elder Wu shuddered. Gathering Hu Jianren’s body, he left with the Xuanyuan Sect disciples. The odds weren’t in their favor, not with the current alliances at play.
Once the Xuanyuan Sect retreated, the other major sects quickly followed suit.
Yi Qianmo handed the Five Element Refuge Bead back to Yu Xiu.
“Thank you, little monk.”
“Senior, there’s no need to thank me. You saved me twice; I’ve only begun to repay my debt,” Yu Xiu replied, patting his head with a smile. “If you ever face trouble, come to the Tianlong Sect. I’ll do my best to help. Better yet, if you wish to join the sect, I can personally recommend you to the elders.”
Yi Qianmo shook his head. “Thanks, but I’m not cut out for so many rules. Discipline has never been my strength.”
He patted Yu Xiu’s head, much to the displeasure of the Tianlong Sect disciples, who shot him icy glares.
As Yu Xiu and his group departed, the disciples of Tianyuan Academy watched Yi Qianmo with mixed emotions.
They had heard Yu Xiu’s words. His invitation to join the Tianlong Sect wasn’t mere courtesy; it was genuine. But why would a sect like Tianlong value a lowly unaffiliated cultivator?
Minister Professor Yu stepped forward with a rehearsed smile. “My young friend, you’ve been through a lot. Here, let me—”
Before he could finish, Yi Qianmo waved him off. “No need. I can’t accept such kindness from Minister Professor Yu.”
Turning to Liu Qingfeng, Yi Qianmo’s eyes sharpened. “And you? Are you planning to give me an explanation?”
Liu Qingfeng’s face turned pale. He quickly hid behind Minister Professor Yu. “Minister Professor, please help me!”
Although stronger than Yi Qianmo, Liu Qingfeng knew better than to challenge someone so ruthless.
Minister Professor Yu frowned, his expression hardening. “You are not yet the prince of Yan Kingdom. Don’t push too far.”
Yi Qianmo smiled faintly. “Who’s pushing? I just have a simple question for Her Highness. What’s the punishment for colluding with outsiders and betraying the academy?”
Su Muyu’s eyes flashed with fury. Without hesitation, she declared, “Death! Guards, execute Liu Qingfeng immediately!”
“Your Highness, you—!”
Before Liu Qingfeng could protest, Su Muyu’s guards swiftly acted, killing him on the spot.
Minister Professor Yu’s face turned red with anger, but he held his tongue. His plan had unraveled. What had seemed like a flawless scheme now lay in ruins.
“Those who act unjustly will meet their end,” he said, glaring at Yi Qianmo before retreating to the camp.
Suddenly, the mountain shook violently. A deafening rumble followed, and lava poured from the cracks, engulfing the land below.
Yi Qianmo quickly led Su Muyu away, moving to a safer peak. They turned to see the original mountain shrouded in thick smoke as flames spread across the surrounding hills.
“What happened inside?” Su Muyu asked curiously.
“Nothing much,” Yi Qianmo replied. “If not for the Five Element Refuge Bead, I wouldn’t have made it out alive.”
“The Five Element Refuge Bead?” Su Muyu’s eyes widened. “That’s a treasure beyond imagination! Who is that little monk to possess something so rare?”
Yi Qianmo shrugged. “I didn’t ask.”
As Su Muyu departed for Green Cloud City, Yi Qianmo sensed a familiar presence. Moments later, Zhou Lanting appeared.
“You’re lucky to have made it out alive,” she remarked.
“If I died, who would give you the antidote?” Yi Qianmo replied with a smirk.
“Hand it over,” Zhou Lanting demanded, extending her hand.
Yi Qianmo’s smile widened. “Actually, the antidote isn’t necessary. The imbalance in your spiritual power isn’t entirely due to the Building Foundation Pill. The real problem lies in your cultivation technique.”
Zhou Lanting’s sharp gaze faltered. “What do you mean?”
Yi Qianmo explained the flaws in her technique and recited a method to correct them. Skeptical but desperate, Zhou Lanting followed his guidance. To her astonishment, her spiritual power began to flow smoothly.
“You’re right…” she muttered, her hostility softening. “Do you have a solution?”
“I do,” Yi Qianmo said. “But you’ll need to stay by my side for me to guide you.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Zhou Lanting handed him a jade slip containing her technique. Yi Qianmo stowed it without a glance.
“Let’s return to Green Cloud City,” he said.
Halfway back, they encountered Su Muyu and Yi Tianyang, who was visibly anxious.
“Qianmo, something terrible has happened!” Yi Tianyang exclaimed.
“What’s wrong?” Yi Qianmo’s expression darkened.
“A group of people attacked our home. They injured the guards and demanded to take Lingyu away!” Yi Tianyang said, his voice trembling. “Father managed to delay them, but they gave us only a few days. I came to find you.”
Yi Qianmo’s eyes turned cold as ice.
To him, Lingyu was everything.
Anyone who dared to harm her would pay with their lives.
