Chapter 61: The Purple Key
“Hey!”
The voice of the evil god echoed within Yi Qianmo’s sea of divine sense.
“To survive my mental pressure without losing your soul… You, little one, are quite interesting. It seems you harbor many secrets.”
“You deceived me!”
Yi Qianmo’s body trembled under the overwhelming power of the evil god. He was powerless to resist, but he refused to yield. He focused his will on the Sword Pill in his dantian, ready to retaliate at any moment.
“Hahaha! Fool! Do you really think you’re someone extraordinary? Dreaming of obtaining the Minggu Tower? Ridiculous!”
The evil god’s laughter reverberated. Then, with a sinister grin, he continued, “Oh? Your sea of divine sense… It has a seal? Impossible! How could a mere mortal possess a sealed sea of divine sense?”
The evil god’s blood-red figure materialized, forming a sword, and slashed toward the mysterious seal within Yi Qianmo’s mind.
“This seal… it’s what’s shielding your soul. Let me see what kind of power dares to stand in my way!”
As the blood-red sword struck the seal, a sudden eruption of light burst forth. The Sword Pill within Yi Qianmo’s dantian activated, draining his spiritual energy entirely and enveloping him in a radiant white aura.
“What… is this power?!”
The evil god’s voice was laced with fear. The immense energy released from the seal crushed his consciousness.
“I was hoping you’d help me break through the seal,” Yi Qianmo murmured coldly, his eyes glowing with a silver-white light.
“But I see now you’re all talk.”
The evil god’s terror deepened. His consciousness hastily retreated from Yi Qianmo’s sea of divine sense, only to be intercepted.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Yi Qianmo summoned the intent of his sword and struck. The evil god’s retreating consciousness was split in two, one half obliterated entirely by Yi Qianmo’s decisive blow.
The statue in the grand hall began to crack, its surface splitting like fragile porcelain. The once-menacing expression on the evil god’s carved face now showed fear.
When Yi Qianmo’s awareness returned, he found himself holding the Blood Talisman. Without hesitation, he yanked the talisman free. A strange red glow flashed, and the hall descended into silence.
“Who… who are you?!” the evil god’s voice stammered, trembling with terror.
“Who I am is none of your concern,” Yi Qianmo replied coldly.
“But your time is up.”
He tossed the Blood Talisman into the air, drew the Repel Evil Sword, and struck with a single decisive slash.
“No!”
The evil god’s anguished cry echoed, but it was too late.
The Blood Talisman disintegrated as the sword struck. A surge of blood-colored mist enveloped the talisman, forming the shadow of a deity. The mist was swiftly absorbed into the Repel Evil Sword, leaving only ash in its wake.
A ghostly face appeared on the sword, struggling desperately. But the blood curse aura ensnared it, and the face vanished into oblivion.
Yi Qianmo exhaled deeply. Beneath the ash, a faint light flickered. Clearing away the remnants, he discovered a key.
The key was purple, engraved with ancient patterns. It radiated an air of mystery, though it seemed unremarkable otherwise.
Suddenly, the ground trembled violently. Yi Qianmo pocketed the key and hurried out of the temple. As he stepped outside, a brilliant pattern flared beneath the temple. In an instant, the entire structure crumbled into dust.
“What happened?” Zhou Lanting and Yu Xiu asked in unison, their faces filled with confusion.
“You didn’t see anything?” Yi Qianmo was taken aback.
“No,” Yu Xiu replied. “After you entered, you vanished. There are barriers inside that block any view from outside.”
“I ran into trouble and nearly lost my life. Let’s go,” Yi Qianmo said, keeping the evil god’s story to himself.
The trio began their descent. To their surprise, the red-haired monsters were gone. The dark sky brightened, and the black ancient tower had disappeared entirely.
They rushed down the mountain, wary of the spirit beasts reappearing after the monsters’ retreat. Though some beasts crossed their path, Zhou Lanting’s aura kept them at bay.
At the lava pool, Zhou Lanting pulled out the Five Element Refuge Bead. Infusing it with spiritual power, the bead emitted a dazzling golden light.
But as the light intensified, it slipped from her hand. Zhou Lanting’s palm was left burned and mangled.
Yu Xiu picked up the bead, his expression solemn.
“You… You practice dark magic,” he said grimly.
Zhou Lanting’s eyes narrowed. She gripped her sword tightly, killing intent emanating from her.
“What of it? Do you wish to eliminate me like the others?”
“Dear one,” Yu Xiu said gently, bowing slightly, “only by setting down the blade of slaughter can you find enlightenment.”
“Spare me your nonsense!” Zhou Lanting snapped. “Your so-called righteous monks are no less ruthless than I am!”
“Enough!” Yi Qianmo interrupted.
“This is not the time for fighting among ourselves. Let’s discuss this elsewhere.”
Reluctantly, the two relented. Yu Xiu activated the Five Element Refuge Bead, enveloping them in its light. Moments later, they disappeared into the lava pool.
Above the ruins of the temple, a flash of light revealed a woman in white.
“Finally, she emerges,” she murmured, her gaze sharp and calculating.
Her cry rang out, causing the spirit beasts to cower in terror.
As she attempted to step beyond the temple’s boundary, a glowing pattern erupted from the ruins, forming a white barrier that blocked her path.
“Damn it!” she hissed, fury flashing in her eyes.
“The barrier should have vanished. Where is the key?!”
Half an hour later, Yi Qianmo and his companions emerged from a crack in the rock, ascending onto solid ground.
Gazing at the distant flames, Zhou Lanting turned to them and said, “Help me obtain the Anomalous Fire, and I will owe you a favor.”
Yi Qianmo raised an eyebrow.
“Why don’t you help me instead? In return, I’ll give you the antidote. How about that?”
Zhou Lanting hesitated, weighing her options. Finally, she relented.
“Fine. But I’ll need this monk’s help as well.”
Yu Xiu smiled faintly.
“If you put down your weapon and embrace kindness—”
Before he could finish, Yi Qianmo tapped his bald head lightly.
“Save your preaching. Let’s get this done.”
Yu Xiu scratched his head sheepishly.
“Alright, senior. What do you need me to do?”
“You and I will lure out the Fire Demon,” Zhou Lanting replied.
“The rest will depend on his fortune.”
Yu Xiu nodded, pulling out the Five Element Refuge Bead and handing it to Yi Qianmo.
“Senior,” he said, “this can ward off fire. It might be useful when facing the Fire Demon.”
