Chapter 51: The Three-Year Agreement
As soon as Minister Professor Yu heard the Xuanyuan Sect disciple’s words, his brows furrowed. Before arriving, he had only received word that a spirit beast had appeared on Green Dragon Mountain. The scene before him was far beyond his expectations.
Hearing the disciple’s accusations, he turned to Su Muyu, his gaze questioning.
The reinforcements from the Xuanyuan Sect shared his confusion, but they were even more stunned. Did Tianyuan Academy truly dare to oppose the mighty Xuanyuan Sect?
Su Muyu quickly pulled Minister Professor Yu aside and explained the situation in detail.
When she mentioned it was all for Yi Qianmo, Minister Professor Yu’s expression shifted dramatically.
“Is he really that extraordinary? Where is he now?”
Su Muyu pointed toward Yi Qianmo. Minister Professor Yu followed her gesture, his face betraying his shock as he took in the sight of the injured young man. His gaze shifted to the Golden Rainbow Sword hovering in the air, then back to Yi Qianmo.
“Your Highness must be joking,” Minister Professor Yu said, his tone incredulous. “Second level of the Qi Refining Stage, and you say a flying sword couldn’t kill him? Even I might not withstand such an attack!”
Su Muyu withheld mention of Yi Qianmo’s Pill Reversal Technique, having only written about it in a letter to her brother.
In her view, while Yi Qianmo’s martial prowess was astonishing, it paled in comparison to his talent for alchemy. If nurtured, he could become an advanced Pill Master—or even surpass that rank—changing the very destiny of the Yan Kingdom.
She dared not let news of his alchemical talent spread. If the Xuanyuan Sect learned of it, they would stop at nothing to eliminate him before he could mature.
“It’s absolutely true,” Su Muyu said firmly.
Minister Professor Yu glanced at the other Tianyuan Academy disciples, and their nods confirmed her statement. Yi Qianmo’s earlier feats had left even them in awe.
“Unaffiliated cultivator?” Minister Professor Yu scoffed. “With talent like his, they’re blind to call him that.”
Still hesitant, Minister Professor Yu glanced at Su Muyu. She pressed him further.
“The Green Dragon Sword’s appearance means His Majesty is watching closely. Please, Minister Professor Yu, step forward and help us!”
Before he could respond, a voice rang out from the Xuanyuan Sect’s side.
“Minister Professor Yu, if you’re willing, our Xuanyuan Sect will welcome you as an elder.”
The speaker was Elder Wu, a Foundation Establishment Stage cultivator leading the Xuanyuan reinforcements.
“And not just you,” Elder Wu continued, “anyone here who wishes to join the Xuanyuan Sect will be well-rewarded.”
The offer tempted the three Foundation Establishment cultivators accompanying Minister Professor Yu. Though Tianyuan Academy had flourished in recent years, it could not compare to the Xuanyuan Sect’s prestige and resources.
But Minister Professor Yu smiled faintly.
“Elder Wu, your kindness is appreciated, but I owe my loyalty to Tianyuan Academy. To join you would be to abandon my gratitude—and that, I cannot do.”
The stewards wavered no longer. Minister Professor Yu’s words reminded them of the stability and respect they enjoyed at Tianyuan Academy. Xuanyuan Sect might offer more power, but they would always remain outsiders there.
Elder Wu’s expression darkened. “Then let’s resolve today’s matter quickly,” he said coldly. “The boy harmed our young sect master’s wife. Disable his spiritual core, and we’ll forget about the rest.”
Su Muyu’s voice cut through the tension like a blade.
“Why should we? Because you say so? Because your young sect master’s wife was offended? And what of the prince of Yan Kingdom—does his life mean nothing to you?”
Elder Wu scowled.
“That boy is my future husband,” Su Muyu declared boldly, stepping forward. “If you so much as touch him, I, Su Muyu, will never rest until I settle accounts with the Xuanyuan Sect.”
Her words stunned everyone. Disbelief rippled through the crowd. Yet, after witnessing Yi Qianmo’s talent, no one could say Su Muyu’s choice was unworthy.
Elder Wu’s jaw tightened, but before he could respond, Yu Youwei spoke.
“If the princess values this man so much, I will give him to her. But…”
Su Muyu interrupted, her voice sharp.
“Give him? You must be mistaken. You were blind enough to throw him away. He’s mine because of his strength and worth—not because of anything you’ve done.”
She took a step closer, her tone icy.
“Besides, Yu Youwei, you no longer have the right to speak of him. Just a few days ago, I personally helped my future husband eliminate your Yu family.”
Yu Youwei trembled, her sword shaking in her grasp. Her glare burned with hatred.
“How dare you…”
“Why shouldn’t I?” Su Muyu retorted. “What is your Yu family to me? Touching my husband’s family was your first mistake. Thinking you can talk down to me is your second.”
She sneered.
“Unlike you, I admire strength. And Yi Qianmo—he’s already far stronger than you. You married into the Xuanyuan Sect, not because of talent, but because you relied on other means, didn’t you?”
Yu Youwei’s face paled. Raising her trembling sword, she pointed it at Su Muyu.
“You’ll pay for this,” she said, her voice shaking with fury.
But before she could act, Yi Qianmo stepped forward.
“Enough,” he said firmly, shielding Su Muyu.
Yu Youwei’s gaze bore into him, her eyes full of unresolved emotions.
“Three years,” she hissed. “Three years from today, we’ll have a duel—a fight to the death. Do you dare accept?”
Yi Qianmo met her gaze without flinching.
“Why wouldn’t I?”
“Good,” Yu Youwei said coldly.
Turning to Su Muyu, she added, “Three years from now, you’ll lose your husband—and the entire Yan Kingdom will fall because of your foolish decision today.”
