Chapter 38: How Dare You Insult My Teacher!
Hearing Xiao Xu’s words, Yi Qianmo paused, momentarily taken aback. Then, as understanding dawned, his lips curled into a mocking smile. Xiao Xu’s meaning was clear: Who are you to harm me?
The onlookers, particularly the Yi family members, began to grasp the gravity of the situation. While the Yu family was a formidable force, the Xuanyuan Sect, backing Xiao Xu, was like a godly mountain looming above them.
Even though Yi Qianmo had ascended to the level of an immortal, against the Xuanyuan Sect, he was still akin to an ant. To harm a disciple like Xiao Xu was to offend an entity far beyond their reach. If Xiao Xu returned for vengeance, the Yi family might face total annihilation.
“Hahahaha…”
Yi Qianmo suddenly burst into laughter, his voice echoing through the courtyard.
“What are you laughing at?” Xiao Xu growled, his face dark with humiliation. Though his wounds had begun to heal, his spiritual power was utterly depleted.
Yi Qianmo’s laughter subsided, and his tone turned sharp. “Are all the disciples of the so-called celestial gates as childish as you?”
“You dare mock the celestial gates? You arrogant fool!” Xiao Xu spat, his fury boiling over.
The crowd exchanged uneasy glances, their apprehension deepening. Yu Changqing, however, smiled coldly. Whether or not Yi Qianmo defeated Xiao Xu, the outcome would be the same. The Yi family was doomed.
After all, the Xuanyuan Sect was untouchable.
Yi Qianmo shook his head, his expression tinged with disdain. “Instead of worrying about your sect, you should focus on yourself.”
Xiao Xu’s unease deepened. “What do you mean?”
Yi Qianmo’s eyes glinted coldly. “I don’t just want to hurt you. I want to kill you.”
The moment those words left his lips, Yi Qianmo surged forward.
“Thud!”
The sound of a sword piercing flesh rang out.
Xiao Xu froze, staring at the blade buried in his chest. His voice trembled, disbelief etched across his face. “You… you dare… kill me?”
Yi Qianmo said nothing. With a swift motion, he withdrew his sword. Xiao Xu collapsed, twitching briefly before falling still.
A stunned silence enveloped the courtyard.
The members of the Yi family stood motionless, their faces pale. Yu Changqing rubbed his eyes, as if unable to believe what he’d just seen. Xiao Xu, a disciple of the Xuanyuan Sect, was dead.
“A disciple of the Immortal Gate… has died in the Yi family,” someone whispered, their voice quivering.
The realization sent waves of fear through the crowd. The Xuanyuan Sect was an unstoppable force. If they chose to retaliate, not even the walls of Green Cloud City could protect them.
The Yi family members trembled in terror. Some turned their gazes toward Yi Qianmo, their earlier admiration replaced by dread. His reckless act had doomed them all.
Even Yi Danian and Yi Tianyang were struck speechless, unable to reconcile the implications of what they’d just witnessed.
Suddenly, a burst of laughter shattered the tense air.
Yu Changqing, eyes gleaming with schadenfreude, pointed a shaking finger at Yi Qianmo. “Little beast, do you realize what you’ve done? You’ve killed a disciple of the Xuanyuan Sect! The disaster you’ve brought upon yourself and your family—”
His tirade was cut short by a voice from the distance.
“Instead of worrying about my teacher’s safety, you should worry about your own first.”
Heads turned toward the voice. A woman dressed in flowing white robes appeared, flanked by a group of stern-faced guards. Her ethereal presence was as chilling as it was commanding.
Yu Changqing’s eyes lit up with hope. “Your Highness, you’ve arrived just in time! Do you know what this little beast has done? He killed a disciple of the Xuanyuan Sect and has brought ruin to us all!”
The woman approached Yi Qianmo, her expression shifting as she studied him. “You’ve broken through to the Qi Refining Stage?”
Yi Qianmo nodded, saying nothing.
Her gaze fell to Xiao Xu’s lifeless body. Turning to Yu Changqing, her voice turned icy. “What did you just say?”
Yu Changqing stammered, confused by her reaction. “He… he killed a disciple of the Xuanyuan Sect.”
“Before that,” she demanded.
“I said, ‘Your Highness, you’ve arrived,’” he repeated, bewildered.
“And after that?”
“I called him a little beast,” Yu Changqing replied, perplexed.
“Slap!”
The woman’s hand struck Yu Changqing’s face, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Yu Changqing’s eyes widened in shock. “Your Highness, why—”
“Slap!”
Another blow silenced him, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
“How dare you insult my teacher?” The woman’s voice was cold enough to freeze the air around her.
Yu Changqing blinked, disbelief etched across his face. “Your… teacher?”
The woman nodded toward Yi Qianmo. “Did I not make myself clear? This man is my teacher. Every word of insult you’ve spoken against him is a strike against me.”
The color drained from Yu Changqing’s face. He stared at Yi Qianmo, then back at the woman. Trembling, he stuttered, “Y-your teacher? That’s… that’s impossible.”
“Do you doubt my words?” Her voice dropped to a dangerous whisper.
The weight of her revelation settled over the crowd. The Yi family, who moments ago had been gripped by fear, now looked at Yi Qianmo in astonishment.
As realization dawned on Yu Changqing, despair consumed him. For Yi Qianmo to command the respect of such a powerful figure… his earlier actions now seemed suicidal.
Su Muyu’s gaze hardened. “You insulted my teacher. For that, there is no forgiveness.”
Her guards stepped forward, sealing the fates of the Yu family with chilling efficiency. In that moment, the dynamic in Green Cloud City shifted irrevocably, and the legend of Yi Qianmo began to spread.
