Chapter 35: The Demon King in the World
Five innate fighters from the Yu family arrived, led by Mr. Hu, the traitor. Together, they formed a group of six.
At Yu Changqing’s command, three of the fighters positioned themselves to block the entrance to the hall, ensuring there would be no escape for Yi Qianmo.
Yu Changqing and the Major Steward remained in place, observing the situation unfold. Yu Changqing even attempted to settle into his chair, confident he was about to witness a one-sided victory.
But before he could sit down, the unexpected happened. Yi Qianmo caught Mr. Hu’s sword—using only two fingers.
The sight was so surreal that many questioned their own eyes. If it weren’t for the genuine energy radiating from Mr. Hu, the scene would have seemed like a bizarre dream.
“Mr. Hu is in the mid-innate stage. Even if Yi Qianmo has advanced to the late-innate stage, there’s no way he could stop that sword so effortlessly,” someone whispered in disbelief.
Yet, it was undeniable. Yi Qianmo’s fingers not only halted the sword but also scattered the immense energy Mr. Hu had poured into it.
A hushed silence followed before debates erupted throughout the hall. What they had just witnessed defied logic and left them shaken.
“Kill him!”
Yu Changqing’s voice cut through the commotion. He had recovered from his shock but was now consumed by fear.
He couldn’t understand how Yi Qianmo, a dismissed son-in-law, had grown powerful enough to threaten the Yu family. Without hesitation, he ordered an immediate attack.
Three skilled fighters drew their swords simultaneously, unleashing a suffocating wave of energy. The sheer power of their combined presence left the bystanders struggling to breathe.
Each of these warriors was as strong as Lei Yuntian, and one of them had already engaged Yi Qianmo. The odds were insurmountable.
Or so it seemed.
Clang!
The sound of a drawn sword echoed. Yi Qianmo deflected Mr. Hu’s blade with one hand while drawing his own sword with the other.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
In an instant, the hall filled with flashes of metal and the piercing sound of clashing blades.
The three attackers—powerful warriors renowned for their strength—were forced back simultaneously.
Their retreat left everyone stunned. Even Mr. Hu, standing closest to Yi Qianmo, could not comprehend how he had countered the strikes.
“No… this isn’t real. It’s impossible!”
“Is this the power of the Great Yi Sword Technique? He repelled three masters during an ambush!”
“It’s more than that. He didn’t just repel them—he… killed them.”
A collective gasp filled the hall as blood trickled from the necks of the three warriors. Their faces contorted in fear before their heads separated from their bodies and fell to the ground.
The hall plunged into silence.
Shock rippled through the crowd, especially the Yu family. The once-despairing Yi family exchanged bewildered glances, struggling to process what they had witnessed.
Even Yi Danian, who had resigned himself to defeat, felt as though he were trapped in a dream.
“I told you,” Yi Qianmo said coldly, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade, “if you betray the Yi family, you’ll suffer a fate worse than Lei Yuntian.”
Holding his sword with two fingers, he fixed his gaze on Mr. Hu.
“Do you remember?”
Mr. Hu’s body trembled as he recalled the day Yi Qianmo had defeated Lei Yuntian. Now, facing Yi Qianmo once again, terror consumed him.
“I… I swear, if there had been any hope, I would never have betrayed the Yi family! I would never have betrayed you!”
Mr. Hu’s voice quivered, his fear laid bare. But Yi Qianmo’s expression remained unchanged.
“But you did betray me,” Yi Qianmo said calmly. “And I always keep my promises.”
With a flick of his fingers, Yi Qianmo sent a shockwave through Mr. Hu’s sword, disarming him. The force shattered Mr. Hu’s wrist, leaving his hand mangled beyond recognition.
“Help me!” Mr. Hu screamed, his voice filled with desperation.
“No one can save you,” Yi Qianmo replied, his tone as icy as his gaze.
Raising his sword, he channeled spiritual energy into the blade.
Swoosh.
The blade’s energy engulfed Mr. Hu, surrounding him completely before penetrating his body.
Boom.
Mr. Hu’s body exploded, scattering blood and fragments across the hall.
The carnage left everyone frozen in place. Yi Qianmo, untouched by the violence, stood spotless amidst the chaos.
Yi Danian and Yi Tianyang could barely speak. Though Yi Qianmo had already performed incredible feats since his return, nothing had prepared them for this.
The Yu family, once confident in their strength, now cowered in terror. To them, Yi Qianmo seemed less like a man and more like a demon king.
Even Yu Changqing and the Major Steward, who had retreated to the young boy’s side, were pale with fear.
“What’s there to fear?”
The young man, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke.
At his words, Yu Changqing and the steward regained some composure, though the scene before them still left them shaken.
“Immortal Master, please… take action and kill this boy!” the steward begged, his voice trembling.
“No need to rush,” the young man said, his tone calm and measured.
He regarded Yi Qianmo with interest, unfazed by the display of power.
“The Great Yi Sword Technique is extraordinary. It transcends the mortal realm—it’s practically celestial. Let me learn its secrets before we kill him.”
As he finished speaking, a suffocating pressure filled the hall, like a mountain pressing down on everyone.
The pressure, unmistakably otherworldly, plunged the Yi family back into despair.
Even Yu Changqing and the steward, despite their strength, could barely withstand the overwhelming force.
For the Yi family, who had briefly glimpsed hope, the oppressive aura extinguished it completely.
