Chapter 34: Facing the Immortal
Yu Changqing did not expect the young man to be so straightforward. However, remembering that this was an immortal, he felt a sense of relief.
To the boy, neither the Yi family nor the Yu family were anything more than slightly larger ants—insignificant in his eyes.
“Gather everyone immediately and march toward the Yi family!”
Yu Changqing’s voice echoed with confidence.
“Little beast, I want to see what tricks you have left this time!”
The Gathering Storm
Soon, the Yu family’s experts assembled, forming an imposing procession as they moved toward the Yi family estate.
Meanwhile, Su Muyu, receiving the news, quickly mobilized her people and sent someone ahead to warn the Yi family.
In the Secret Room
Yi Qianmo, who had just finished taming the black sword, had no time to savor his success when the warning bell in the secret room began to chime.
Opening the door, he found his Second Uncle, Yi Tianyu, standing there, visibly distraught.
“Qianmo, run! You have to escape, now!” Yi Tianyu’s voice trembled with urgency.
Frowning, Yi Qianmo asked, “What happened?”
“The immortals… The Yu family brought an immortal with them. Your father and younger brother… they’ve been captured. The guards… everyone… they’re all gone.”
Yi Tianyu’s voice cracked as he recounted the devastation, his terror evident.
“The immortals?”
Rather than fear, Yi Qianmo’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Yu Youwei has returned?”
“No, it’s not Yu Youwei. It’s a young man. Your father and brother didn’t even have a chance to resist before he crushed them.”
The memories of the encounter caused Yi Tianyu’s body to tremble again.
But instead of dread, Yi Qianmo’s face displayed disappointment.
Placing a reassuring hand on his uncle’s shoulder, he said, “Calm down. The sky isn’t falling. It’s just an immortal.”
The Confrontation
In the Yi family hall, despair hung thick in the air.
All the experts of the Yi family knelt, their expressions grim.
A young man, dressed in green, sat arrogantly in the seat of the family head. Even Yu Changqing, the patriarch of the Yu family, stood by deferentially.
Yi Danian and Yi Tianyang knelt on the ground, bloodied and battered.
Their hearts were filled with a mixture of fear and despair as they looked at the young man who had overpowered them effortlessly.
“Speak! Where did these pills come from?”
Yu Changqing held up a jade bottle containing the lower-grade Qi Nourishing Pills Yi Qianmo had given his father.
He was shocked by the strength of the Yi family—four innate experts, dozens of acquired-stage masters, and hundreds of first-class fighters. Even with the experts from the Huang and Lei families, this level of power was staggering.
Yu Changqing realized that, without the support of the young immortal, his Yu family would likely have suffered the same fate as the other clans.
When Yi Danian refused to answer, Yu Changqing’s anger flared. He gestured to Steward Yu, who kicked Yi Danian to the ground.
A sickening crack echoed as Yi Danian’s ribs broke, blood spilling from his mouth.
Yu Changqing pointed to Yi Tianyang and growled, “I’ll count to three. If you don’t talk, I’ll kill your son!”
The Betrayal
Before Yi Danian could respond, an elderly man in black stepped forward.
“Lord Yu, these pills were made by Yi Qianmo,” said Mr. Hu, a former member of the Lei family who had betrayed them to join the Yi family.
Mr. Hu sneered at Yi Danian, his words cutting like a blade.
“I’ve already sent someone to capture his sister, Yi Lingyu. Once we have her, Yi Qianmo will surely yield.”
“You traitor!” Yi Danian spat, his voice filled with rage.
“My family took you in, and this is how you repay us!”
“Adapting to circumstances is the mark of wisdom,” Mr. Hu replied smugly.
A New Presence
As Mr. Hu gloated, a voice interrupted him.
“I don’t think your so-called ‘wisdom’ will serve you well this time.”
All heads turned to see Yi Qianmo walking into the hall, calm and composed.
The Yu family members were puzzled, while the Yi family members felt their last shred of hope crumble.
Yi Danian and Yi Tianyang stared in despair. They had hoped their son and nephew would escape, but here he was, walking into the lion’s den.
The Young Immortal’s Disdain
The green-clad young man opened his eyes, glancing at Yi Qianmo with a mixture of disdain and confusion.
Strangely, Yi Qianmo emitted no aura, appearing no different from an ordinary mortal.
Yu Changqing sneered.
“I underestimated you, boy. I didn’t think you’d actually show up!”
He gestured to his men.
“Seize him!”
An Unshakable Calm
Before the Yu family members could act, Mr. Hu leaped forward, aiming his sword at Yi Qianmo.
“Your arrogance will cost you dearly!” Mr. Hu roared, putting all his energy into the strike.
Yi Qianmo stood still, unflinching, allowing the blade to approach his chest.
Even Mr. Hu hesitated for a moment, but he quickly resolved to strike harder.
With a confident thrust, the sword stopped—mere inches from Yi Qianmo’s chest.
“What… What’s happening?” Mr. Hu stammered, his pride giving way to shock.
Yi Qianmo had stopped the blade with just two fingers.
“Impossible!”
Panic filled Mr. Hu’s eyes as his strongest strike was rendered useless, his sword unable to move an inch further.
The hall fell silent, save for the faint sound of Mr. Hu’s trembling breath.
