Chapter 102: Making You Angry Without the Cost of Life
They never expected Yi Qianmo to climb the mountain—not to visit the sect master—but to challenge the second cave directly.
To Yi Qianmo, visiting the sect master was irrelevant. Strength was what mattered in the Tao School. He wasn’t here to curry favor or gain a supporter; he came to sharpen himself.
The commotion outside soon drew the attention of those within the caves. One by one, the residents of the first cave emerged.
Most of them appeared to be at the seventh or eighth level of Qi Refining, with several at the ninth. Yi Qianmo could immediately sense the difference in energy between these cultivators and the ones living in tents at the foot of the mountain.
The ninth-level cultivators, in particular, exuded incredible strength. Compared to them, Xiao Xiao—whom Yi Qianmo had previously defeated—was like an ant before a mountain.
As Yi Qianmo ascended to the second level, the crowd at the mountain’s base was stunned into silence.
“Stop!”
A cold voice rang out.
The speaker was a young man clad in a purple robe, his cultivation level at the seventh stage of Qi Refining. Though lean, his presence felt as imposing as a mountain.
Yi Qianmo did not halt, nor did he even spare the man a glance. He simply continued his ascent, as if the words weren’t meant for him.
The young man’s face darkened. Not expecting such blatant disregard, he stepped forward, blocking Yi Qianmo’s path.
“I told you to stop! Didn’t you hear me?”
Yi Qianmo stopped, glancing at him briefly. “I heard you.”
“Then why didn’t you stop?”
“Why should I stop?” Yi Qianmo’s tone was as calm as ever.
The crowd erupted in whispers.
The man in the purple robe flushed, rendered speechless by Yi Qianmo’s reply. In Tao School, hierarchy was dictated by strength. If you were powerful, you stayed on the mountain. If not, you camped at its base. Respect was a luxury earned, not demanded.
After a moment of awkward silence, the young man finally found his voice.
“I entered the school before you. That makes me your senior. Ignoring a senior when addressed—don’t you have any manners?”
Yi Qianmo’s gaze turned icy. He could tolerate insults, but dragging his upbringing into the matter? Unacceptable.
“What did you just say?”
“I asked if you have family teachings!”
Yi Qianmo’s hand moved to the hilt of his sword. “I’ll give you three breaths to disappear from my sight. If you don’t…”
He left the threat hanging in the air.
The purple-robed man laughed mockingly.
“What will you do if I don’t? Are you going to teach me a lesson about family values?”
The onlookers grew more excited.
Yi Qianmo’s reply was cutting: “I’m not interested in fighting you. If you were on the seventh floor, maybe I’d consider it.”
The crowd fell into stunned silence. Yi Qianmo’s arrogance was shocking. He dismissed a seventh-level Qi Refining cultivator as beneath his notice.
Long Fei, as the purple-robed man was called, turned pale with rage. Trembling, he brandished his sword and pointed it at Yi Qianmo.
“Do you believe I won’t end you?”
“I don’t believe it,” Yi Qianmo replied smoothly. “If you dare harm even a single hair on my head, the Grand Princess will ensure your demise by tomorrow’s sunset.”
Long Fei froze.
The crowd whispered in disbelief. Yi Qianmo’s audacity knew no bounds. Yet, as much as Long Fei hated to admit it, Yi Qianmo wasn’t bluffing. The Tao School was under royal jurisdiction, and the Grand Princess’s influence was undeniable.
Fuming but powerless, Long Fei grudgingly stepped aside.
“Good dog,” Yi Qianmo muttered as he passed, a smirk tugging at his lips.
“You’ll regret this!” Long Fei shouted after him. “Tomorrow, I’ll knock on your door and make you pay!”
Yi Qianmo didn’t even glance back. His steps were steady as he ascended—past the second floor, the third, the fourth—until he reached the seventh.
Long Fei followed him, trembling with rage.
At the seventh level, Yi Qianmo turned to Long Fei. “Your real cave is here, isn’t it? What’s its name?”
After a tense moment, Long Fei replied through gritted teeth, “Ling Tian Cave.”
Yi Qianmo wasted no time. He knocked on the door.
A cultivator at the sixth level of Qi Refining answered, his expression a mix of confusion and apprehension.
“I’m here to challenge you,” Yi Qianmo said plainly. “If you surrender, we can save ourselves some trouble.”
The man hesitated, glancing at Long Fei. This morning, Long Fei had approached him about switching caves. Now, under Long Fei’s silent urging, he bowed his head.
“I admit defeat,” he said, handing Yi Qianmo the cave’s key.
Yi Qianmo unlocked the barrier and turned back to Long Fei.
“Thanks for clearing the way.”
Long Fei’s face turned a deep shade of red.
“Tomorrow,” he snarled, “I’ll make you regret this!”
Yi Qianmo said nothing. He closed the door behind him, leaving the crowd outside in stunned silence.
