“What are you doing? You can’t bully my brother!” A little girl cried out in helplessness.
In front of her, three men in black were approaching.
This was a desolate wilderness, surrounded by bushes. The girl had no way to retreat.
The man in the middle wore an evil smile. As he looked at the girl, his eyes were filled with lewdness.
“Zhou Xue, Young Master Liu personally ordered me to take you back. Once you go back and serve my young master well, you’ll have everything you want. Why struggle so hard here?”
The girl was Zhou Xue. Next to her was a boy a few years older than her, named Zhou Tian.
Although Zhou Tian looked quite handsome, he gave off a silly impression—his eyes were vacant, and saliva was dribbling from the corner of his mouth. It was obvious to anyone that he was a fool.
“I’ll go back with you. But what about my brother? He can’t do anything on his own.” Zhou Xue’s eyes were red as she stood in front of her silly brother, her voice trembling.
The leading man snorted coldly, “He’s just a fool, a burden to you. If he dies, so be it. Why bother with him?”
Tears rolled down Zhou Xue’s cheeks as she shook her head repeatedly, “No! He’s my brother. How could I abandon him? Please, let us go!”
Zhou Xue and Zhou Tian were from a small county town. Some time ago, their parents had died in a car accident.
Zhou Xue had to take care of her brother, who couldn’t even speak.
Their family had always been poor, and their parents hadn’t left any property after their death. Zhou Xue had just graduated from college and hadn’t found a job yet. The two siblings depended on each other, living a hard and impoverished life.
Recently, she heard that a renowned psychiatrist had come to Ninghai City. Determined to get treatment for her brother, she borrowed money from everywhere and brought Zhou Tian to this big city. However, she never expected to be entangled by members of the Liu family.
The Liu family was a powerful and wealthy clan in Ninghai City, with immense influence. Zhou Xue knew about their reputation.
Originally, there was no connection between them. But an accident brought them together.
Young Master Liu of the Liu family had visited She City, Zhou Xue’s hometown, some time ago. He was having lunch at a restaurant where Zhou Xue’s father, Zhou Cheng, worked as a chef.
A trivial matter led to an argument between them.
In a fit of anger, Young Master Liu ordered his men to beat Zhou Cheng half to death and boasted that he would make the Zhou family’s life miserable.
Not long after that, Zhou Xue’s parents died in a car accident. No one knew if there was a connection.
By chance, Young Master Liu saw Zhou Xue and was captivated by her beauty. Overcome with desire, he wanted her to sleep with him.
Frightened, Zhou Xue had taken her brother and fled, not even daring to return home. She could only hide everywhere.
But she never imagined that as soon as they arrived in Ninghai City, they would be discovered by the Liu family’s men.
She had led her brother through countless detours to evade them, but being unfamiliar with the area, she ended up in this desolate wilderness, surrounded by the three men in black.
Trapped in such a desperate situation, Zhou Xue had no idea what to do. Her only thought was to protect her brother from harm.
At this moment, the leading man in black had grown impatient. He snorted, “If you can’t harden your heart, we’ll take care of him for you. Go on, beat this idiot to death!”
At his command, a man in a suit next to him charged forward with a baseball bat, pushed Zhou Xue aside, and swung the bat at Zhou Tian’s head.
Zhou Xue was terrified, her face turning pale. But as a young girl, she was powerless to stop it. She could only watch in horror as the tragedy unfolded.
The blow made Zhou Tian’s blood flow, and he collapsed to the ground.
Yet, from that single strike, his previously vacant eyes suddenly regained their sparkle, as if a pair of eyes that had long been closed had 猛地 opened.
Above him was a clear blue sky, and countless memories surged in his mind.
“I… am back.” He murmured, his eyes gradually becoming sharp and focused.
He, Zhou Tian, had lived for five thousand years.
Born in the primordial era, he had witnessed the reigns of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, lived through the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. He had discussed philosophy with Confucius and drunk with Qin Shi Huang. All the famous figures in history had respectfully addressed him as “Master.”
Five thousand years ago, he had accidentally obtained the inheritance of the ancient Alchemy Emperor and cultivated the Immortality Technique, granting him eternal life.
However, those who cultivated the Immortality Technique would undergo a nirvana every five hundred years.
The nirvana period lasted anywhere from ten to fifty years. During this time, his immortal powers would vanish, his memories would fade, and in the final years, he would even become a fool.
But once the nirvana period ended, he would be reborn, his strength reaching new heights.
This time, his nirvana had lasted twenty years. He had intended to find a secluded place to meditate.
But unexpectedly, the nirvana had struck suddenly, more intensely than ever before, causing him to lose his memories instantly and become an ordinary person.
Fortunately, Zhou Xue’s parents had been kind-hearted. They had found him on the road, learned his name from a badge on his chest, and taken him in, telling Zhou Xue to call him “brother.”
Zhou Xue had grown up with Zhou Tian. Though not related by blood, they were closer than real siblings.
That was why, even in such a difficult situation, Zhou Xue had never thought of abandoning Zhou Tian.
Zhou Tian clenched his fists, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“Twenty years… it truly feels like the blink of an eye.”
He slowly stood up and touched the blood on his forehead, which was already starting to clot.
He stared at the three men in black with an eerie smile, making them feel a chill run down their spines, a sense of dread creeping over them.
Zhou Xue was shocked and delighted to see her brother stand up instead of fainting. She was about to speak, but Zhou Tian interrupted her.
“Sister, with me here, no one will ever bully you again. Those who have bullied you—I’ll make them pay a terrible price.
Because I, Zhou Tian, am back!”
