Chapter 46: All-Out Battle
At this moment, although the Chen family’s envoy found himself in a difficult situation, he remained calm. He slowly stepped forward, pointing his spear at Old Five, and said, “Honored elder, my name is Chen Jianba. I hope we can have a one-on-one duel. Could you let these children go? After all, they’re just our escort targets and didn’t participate in the earlier fight.” After speaking, he gave a subtle glance to Mu Xiaofeng and the others, signaling them to step back.
Old Five hesitated for a moment after hearing this but then shook his head. “I don’t mind dueling you, but these little ones aren’t going anywhere. If you manage to defeat me, I’ll let all of you go.”
With a flick of his short blade, Old Five’s eyes flashed with malice as he warned Mu Xiaofeng and the others, “If any of you try to run away, I’ll make sure it’s quick and painless for you.”
It was clear now that escape was no longer an option for Mu Xiaofeng and his group. However, this actually worked in Chen Jianba’s favor, as he no longer had to worry about Old Five attacking the others, allowing him to focus entirely on the fight. As for Old Five, he didn’t seem to think much of Chen Jianba, believing him to be no match for him.
Chen Jianba, spear in hand, lunged directly at Old Five, thrusting his weapon forward. But Old Five, with his agility, easily dodged the attack and swiftly maneuvered behind Chen Jianba, slashing him across the back. Despite the pain, Chen Jianba didn’t falter. His spear strikes were fierce and relentless, but still, he couldn’t land a blow on Old Five. Instead, he received more wounds.
Old Five then unleashed his illusion technique, creating five phantom versions of himself that attacked Chen Jianba simultaneously. Unable to fend off all of them, Chen Jianba’s injuries multiplied, but he grit his teeth and kept swinging.
Watching from the sidelines, Mu Xiaofeng and the others grew increasingly anxious. They couldn’t run, and trying to help might only hinder Chen Jianba. Helpless, they could only wait in frustration.
Suddenly, to their astonishment, Chen Jianba’s figure blurred, and a second Chen Jianba appeared. Mu Xiaofeng was taken aback—Chen Jianba was using his Phantom Spear technique, which could create illusions just like Old Five’s. If it became a battle of illusions, Chen Jianba might not be at a disadvantage anymore.
Seeing two Chen Jianbas, Old Five was shocked. He realized that his opponent was no ordinary fighter. If Chen Jianba could also create phantoms, this fight could drag on much longer than he had anticipated.
Old Five, sensing the shift, went all out, attacking even faster in an attempt to overwhelm Chen Jianba. But now that Chen Jianba had created an illusion, the pressure on him lessened. His spear techniques flowed seamlessly, leaving Old Five fewer and fewer opportunities to land a strike.
Before long, Chen Jianba produced a third illusion, catching Old Five off guard once again. He hadn’t expected Chen Jianba to be capable of creating more phantoms. Old Five’s ability to create illusions relied on his speed, whereas Chen Jianba’s Phantom Spear technique couldn’t immediately generate illusions at maximum speed. But if things continued like this, Old Five realized, he might not be able to defeat Chen Jianba.
Soon after, Chen Jianba created a fourth illusion. At this point, Old Five found himself completely unable to go on the offensive, as the two were now exchanging blows back and forth. However, Chen Jianba’s spear techniques were exceptionally precise, each strike targeting a vital area. Now, it was Old Five who was constantly on the defensive, struggling to parry Chen Jianba’s relentless attacks.
Old Five, dual blades in hand, dodged left and right while blocking Chen Jianba’s strikes. As long as the Phantom Spear technique wasn’t interrupted, Chen Jianba would only get faster at creating illusions.
Suddenly, the fifth phantom appeared. The battle was now five against five, and Chen Jianba had clearly gained the upper hand. Feeling confident, Chen Jianba shouted to Mu Xiaofeng and the others, “Go ahead and leave. I can handle this guy now.”
Mu Xiaofeng and the others hesitated at first, still worried about Chen Jianba. But they knew staying would only hinder him, so they quickly turned and fled, heading back to regroup with the others.
Seeing them escape, Old Five grew both anxious and enraged. Unable to break free from the fight, his movements became sloppy, and Chen Jianba managed to land a blow, slashing his abdomen. Old Five retreated, and his phantoms were swiftly destroyed by Chen Jianba. Glaring coldly, he said, “I told you, if they tried to run, I’d make it quick for them.”
With that, Old Five pulled out a longbow from his back, nocking an arrow infused with his qi. He fired a barrage of splitting arrows straight at Chen Jianba. However, Chen Jianba spun his spear, expertly deflecting each arrow with a series of loud clanks, protecting himself from harm.
But when he looked up, Old Five had vanished from sight. Alarmed, Chen Jianba turned to see Old Five already chasing after Mu Xiaofeng and the others.
Chen Jianba gripped his spear tightly and rushed forward. If Old Five caught up to them, they would be in grave danger. Just as Chen Jianba took two steps, a sharp whistle cut through the air, and an arrow struck him squarely in the back.
Old Five emerged from behind him, stepping on the fallen Chen Jianba’s back. “Youngsters like you never learn, do you? That was just one of my phantoms.”
Old Five carefully inspected the black arrowhead in his hand before continuing, “Don’t worry, I’ve only paralyzed you temporarily. You’re quite interesting—I’m not ready to kill you just yet. Wait for me to return.” With a loud, mocking laugh, Old Five dashed off in pursuit of Mu Xiaofeng and the others.
Meanwhile, Wu Xiaoxing knew he couldn’t match Old Three’s brute strength, so he gave a quick signal to Mo Huaichou. Mo Huaichou gathered his qi and summoned a massive iron golem with six arms and spikes all over its body. He taunted Old Three, “You may be strong, but let’s see how you handle my big toy.”
Unable to resist the provocation, Old Three charged at the iron golem, swinging his giant hammer directly at its head, aiming to smash it to pieces. But Mo Huaichou commanded the golem, and its six arms grabbed Old Three’s hammer with ease.
Old Three struggled to free his hammer, but the golem’s legs rooted into the ground, anchoring it firmly.
Seeing Old Three immobilized, Wu Xiaoxing rushed in and threw a punch at Old Three’s head. This was too much for Old Four, who had been watching for a while. He couldn’t just stand by while his brother was being attacked by two people.
Old Four charged forward, raising his shield just in time to block Wu Xiaoxing’s punch. Wu Xiaoxing’s fist collided with the shield, but Old Four didn’t budge, standing as steady as a mountain. Wu Xiaoxing realized this was trouble—this new opponent had incredible defensive power, and he wouldn’t be able to break through directly.
Old Four swung his axe, but Wu Xiaoxing easily dodged it. Then Old Four raised his shield and charged at the iron golem, slamming into it with great force. The impact shook Mo Huaichou’s control, causing the golem to loosen its grip on the hammer. Old Three quickly reclaimed his hammer and swung it at the golem, sending it flying back toward Mo Huaichou.
Seeing the golem damaged, Mo Huaichou, frustrated and angry, unleashed a burst of qi to repair it instantly, sending his “big toy” back into the fight.
Old Three, seeing the golem coming at him again, shouted at Mo Huaichou, “Hey! Fight me yourself if you’ve got the guts! Stop hiding behind that pile of scrap metal!”
Mo Huaichou, knowing he couldn’t match Old Three in raw power, continued controlling the golem to attack. The golem swung both its fists at Old Three, who dodged easily. But as he dodged, four more iron fists were already coming his way. Old Four rushed in, raising his shield to protect his brother and giving Old Three a boost by letting him step on his shoulder.
With Old Four’s help, Old Three leaped over the golem and swung his hammer down. But the golem stepped back, and Old Three’s hammer hit the ground, leaving a huge crater.
Wu Xiaoxing seized the opportunity, dashing in to kick Old Three in the waist, sending him flying. Just as Wu Xiaoxing was about to follow up, the ground beneath him suddenly froze, trapping his feet in ice. He summoned his qi to shatter the ice, but as soon as he did, more ice formed, holding him in place.
Old Three, seeing Wu Xiaoxing trapped, shouted, “Thanks, big brother!” and charged forward with his hammer raised. Mo Huaichou, seeing Wu Xiaoxing in danger, quickly commanded the golem to intervene, but Old Four used his shield to block its path.
Just then, Teobela waved her staff, sending a beam of purple light that immobilized Old Three. Taking advantage of the situation, Wang Yuming hurled two poison needles at him, striking Old Three, who collapsed immediately, paralyzed.
At that moment, a sudden arrow shot out, directly striking Old Three. The arrow was laced with a paralyzing agent, once again attacking Old Three’s nervous system. The shot had come from Ai Ying, who had been watching from the rear. It was now clear that everyone would have to join the battle.
Old Three was now completely immobilized. Wu Xiaoxing summoned his energy once again, shattering the ice beneath his feet, and delivered a powerful kick to Old Three’s face, sending him flying. Just then, a dazzling golden light appeared, shining on Old Three. His wounds began to heal rapidly, and the toxins were being expelled from his body. Old Three opened his eyes and suddenly charged forward again, while Wu Xiaoxing’s feet were once more bound in place.
Teobela tried to help Wu Xiaoxing again, but out of nowhere, several icy pillars descended from the sky, crashing toward Teobela and the others. Forced to dodge, Teobela, Ai Ying, and the rest of the group couldn’t intervene, helplessly watching as Wu Xiaoxing was sent flying by a punch.
