Chapter 38: Bloody and Cruel
At this moment, Mu Xiaofeng’s consciousness had already blurred. His body was being controlled by someone else entirely—it wasn’t him at all. But his mind could still see and hear everything; he just had no way to resist.
Mu Xiaofeng stretched his muscles and bones, then tilted his head and looked at the five strange people in front of him. With a wicked smile, he said, “Which one should I kill first? After all, I should repay this child for lending me his body.”
Hearing this, the five people trembled with fear. They could clearly feel that Mu Xiaofeng was no longer the same person. The killing intent emanating from him was so overwhelming that it made them extremely uncomfortable.
Pointing at Wangyu Bell, Mu Xiaofeng said, “Let’s start with you. Against you five little brats, I’ll just open one Yuan Unseal.” With that, the Yuan energy in Mu Xiaofeng’s right hand surged violently as he opened the unseal on his right hand. Then, lifting his heavy sword, he dashed towards Wangyu Bell with lightning speed—far faster than before. Wangyu Bell didn’t even have time to react. Mu Xiaofeng swung his sword at Wangyu Bell’s neck with deadly intent.
Wu Xiaotian knew that if he didn’t save Wangyu Bell, he would surely be killed by Mu Xiaofeng. In an instant, Wu Xiaotian moved to Mu Xiaofeng’s side, pushing Wangyu Bell away and delivering a kick to Mu Xiaofeng.
Although Wangyu Bell was pushed aside, his neck was still grazed by the heavy sword, leaving a long, narrow wound that began to bleed. As for Mu Xiaofeng, he didn’t react at all to Wu Xiaotian’s kick. He stood there, completely unmoved.
Mu Xiaofeng turned to Wu Xiaotian and smiled. “Not bad. If you hadn’t pushed that kid away, he’d already be dead under my sword. But it seems like you take pride in your leg, don’t you? Let me chop it off for you.”
With that, Mu Xiaofeng grabbed Wu Xiaotian’s ankle and raised his heavy sword, ready to slash down. In a panic, Wu Xiaotian quickly pulled out several throwing knives and hurled them at Mu Xiaofeng, but Mu Xiaofeng didn’t dodge at all. The knives pierced into his body, yet he remained focused on severing Wu Xiaotian’s leg.
At this critical moment, Chen Ziyun stepped forward, using his spear to block Mu Xiaofeng’s sword. Mu Xiaofeng’s sword had already pierced into Wu Xiaotian’s flesh—just a little later, and bone would have been exposed.
Lowering his head, Chen Ziyun apologized to Mu Xiaofeng, “Though it goes against the spirit of a duel, I must save him.” The way Chen Ziyun still maintained his composure at this moment was almost comical.
At this point, the scholar from the Tio Clan swung his staff, and the book in his hand emitted a purple light. Mu Xiaofeng felt an immense pressure closing in on him from all sides. His body was completely restrained, and Wu Xiaotian used this chance to break free from Mu Xiaofeng’s grip with a strong push.
The Tio scholar wiped the sweat from his forehead and sighed in relief, thinking he had subdued Mu Xiaofeng. But Mu Xiaofeng sneered, “Hmph! You think your ‘Spatial Binding Spell’ can hold me?”
In an instant, Mu Xiaofeng’s Yuan energy erupted, forcibly breaking free from the Spatial Binding Spell and even shaking off the throwing knives embedded in his body.
Mu Xiaofeng touched his wounds, then licked the blood off his hand with a satisfied expression. “This real, physical body… it’s making me so excited. You kids are pretty good, but the gap between us is too great. Even with all your strange techniques, I can simply overpower them with my Yuan energy. Don’t worry, I’ll make it quick, so you don’t suffer too much.”
With that, Mu Xiaofeng charged at them again. Finally, the Mohist made his move. He pulled a box from his back, which unfolded into a large sheet of metal and quickly assembled itself into an iron giant.
The Mohist controlled the iron giant to intercept Mu Xiaofeng. Flames shot out from the giant’s feet as it sped towards him. But Mu Xiaofeng was unimpressed, swinging his sword at the iron giant. However, the sword left no mark on the iron giant, and the moment the sword made contact, the giant transformed into a large net that entangled Mu Xiaofeng.
Though his movements were temporarily restrained, Mu Xiaofeng wasn’t truly trapped—he was just a bit surprised. But the Mohist wasn’t done. He had the Tio scholar use space magic to summon dozens of similar boxes. With a wave of his hand, the boxes each transformed into iron giants and rushed toward Mu Xiaofeng.
Dozens of nets tightly enveloped Mu Xiaofeng. With a shout, Mu Xiaofeng gathered Yuan energy into his right hand and slammed it into the ground, causing it to collapse. Seizing the moment before the nets fell, he hacked open a path and slipped away.
Sensing that something was wrong, the Mohist shot his Yuan energy into the nets, restoring them to their original forms as iron giants.
Mu Xiaofeng burst out from the ground, only to find himself surrounded by dozens of waiting iron giants. Their fists pounded down on him—one punch from an iron giant felt like a mere scratch to Mu Xiaofeng, but dozens of them attacking at once became overwhelming.
With a roar, Mu Xiaofeng stood up, raised his heavy sword, and began spinning rapidly, unleashing a whirlwind slash. The iron giants weren’t cut down; instead, they were sent flying one by one. It was surprising—no one expected these iron giants to be so resilient.
“Don’t even think about cutting through my iron giants! They’re made from the finest materials,” the Mohist boasted proudly. “We Mohists are always pursuing perfection in mechanics. If my creations could be easily broken, they’d be nothing but junk.”
Mu Xiaofeng frowned in frustration. “Damn it, this kid doesn’t have enough Yuan energy for me to open a second Yuan Unseal. If I could unlock more, these brats would’ve been finished long ago.” He slammed the ground angrily, causing it to shake violently. Everyone around struggled to keep their footing, and the iron giants started malfunctioning as if they had short-circuited.
Mu Xiaofeng saw this and smirked wickedly. He raised his heavy sword and struck the ground again, causing a crack to appear, and the tremors intensified like an earthquake. The Mohist lost his balance and fell to the ground, while the iron giants completely stopped moving.
Realizing that the Mohist needed to control the iron giants with Yuan energy, Mu Xiaofeng wasted no time. He leaped over the motionless giants and charged straight at the Mohist, who, knowing his weakness had been exposed, cried out for help. Chen Ziyun and Wu Xiaotian rushed forward, desperately trying to block Mu Xiaofeng.
Mu Xiaofeng’s sword struck so hard that Chen Ziyun’s hands went numb, and he dropped his spear. Wu Xiaotian was sent flying by a powerful kick. Injured, Wu Xiaotian quickly took out a pouch of herbs and swallowed some, his wounds slowly healing—similar to the recovery techniques of the Herbal King’s acolytes.
Shadow Assassins were trained in a bit of everything. They could engage in hand-to-hand combat, use ranged weapons, and even perform basic healing spells. While not as effective as the Herbal King’s methods, the Shadow Assassins were versatile, though their lack of specialization was their fatal flaw.
Mu Xiaofeng didn’t give Wu Xiaotian any time to recover. He chased after him, swinging his sword to release a powerful wave of energy. Wu Xiaotian couldn’t dodge in time, and one of his legs was severed by the sword energy, his blood-soaked limb falling to the ground. Wu Xiaotian lay on the ground, wailing in agony.
Seeing Wu Xiaotian’s leg severed, Chen Ziyun angrily cursed, “You reckless bastard! I’ll poke a hole in you!”
Chen Ziyun charged forward, hoping to defeat Mu Xiaofeng with his Phantom Spear Technique. But this time, Mu Xiaofeng sneered and rushed straight at him, meeting his attack head-on. Chen Ziyun had never expected this. The Phantom Spear Technique was difficult to defend against, but if the opponent charged in directly, its effectiveness was greatly diminished.
Chen Ziyun blocked Mu Xiaofeng’s sword with his spear and, with a quick movement, managed to stab Mu Xiaofeng in the abdomen. But Mu Xiaofeng grabbed hold of Chen Ziyun’s spear and slashed at his hand. Chen Ziyun didn’t let go in time, and Mu Xiaofeng sliced off his right arm. Even with his arm severed, Chen Ziyun’s grip on the spear remained tight.
Mu Xiaofeng pulled out the long spear lodged in his abdomen and methodically broke apart the severed right arm, one finger at a time. He first tossed the spear back to Chen Ziyun, then threw the arm into the woods. Turning back to the petrified Chen Ziyun, he said, “The beasts in the woods are hungry too. It’s time to give them a late-night snack. Chen Ziyun, you needn’t be too upset; even as a cripple, you still maintain your elegance.”
Mu Xiaofeng then slowly walked over to the Theo scholar, giving him a faint smile. This smile was enough to scare the scholar out of his wits, leaving him trembling. “I’ve changed my mind. Killing you seems pointless now. I want you to become useless, to live as a burden in this world.”
The Theo scholar waved his staff and instantly teleported to another location, apparently using spatial magic to change his position.
Before he could even get a clear view of Mu Xiaofeng’s location, he saw a shadow flash before him, followed by the heavy sword slicing through his eyes. The scholar was immediately plunged into darkness, unable to see anything. All he heard was Mu Xiaofeng’s devilish whisper: “Your reaction is too slow. Did you think changing positions would make you invisible to me? Unfortunately, you won’t be seeing me at all from now on.”
