Chapter 1: A Calamity or a Blessing from Heaven
As long as the world changes and history progresses, stories will always be born, forging immortal legends in times of chaos that inspire everyone to create their own tales.
When the sword’s edge is hidden and the war drums fade, no one knows when the next period of peace will be shattered or when the next legend will be forged. Thus, the story begins.
In the Kingdom of Jun in the western White Land, nearly 200 years after the war, people have gradually moved past the shadows of conflict. The war 200 years ago, which ravaged the four continents of Blue, White, Red, and Black, claimed countless lives and shattered beautiful landscapes, leaving many with deep scars.
However, 200 years ago, the demons and ghosts of the northern Black Land—the instigators of the war—finally surrendered, withdrew their forces from the other continents, and signed a treaty promising never to invade again. But everyone knew this peace was temporary; the greedy villains would not give up so easily.
During the ancient war, the deities of the eastern Blue Land, adept in Qi techniques, became the main force resisting the demons and ghosts. Meanwhile, the humans, orcs, and elves of the southern Red Land and western White Land, who only knew how to fight with weapons, became targets of the northern villains’ greed.
After the war, the deities taught Qi techniques to the races of the White and Red Lands to prepare them for future northern threats. However, this also sowed seeds of both fortune and misfortune, as the races in these lands began to struggle even more fiercely.
In the northeastern part of the White Land, facing the sea, lies the miraculous Twin Town, named after the prominent Mu family whose unique bloodline often produces twins. Due to the Mu family’s longstanding contributions, the town was named Twin Town.
Twin Town is located at the gateway to the White Land, where the first battle of the war 200 years ago took place, leading to five years of colonial rule by the northern villains.
But the war has long passed, and Twin Town has regained its vitality. The Mu family is about to welcome new strength as the eldest son, Mu Taigu, expects his first set of children—potential future heirs of the Mu family.
Mu Taigu’s wife, Qu Lingsha, also hails from a noble family. Her father is the lord of Luohai City in northern Jun, a critical sea and land junction.
After two years of marriage, Mu Taigu and Qu Lingsha are finally expecting children. The high priest predicted that Qu Lingsha would give birth within the next two days. Mu Taigu, both excited and nervous, paces around anxiously.
At this moment, a black lightning bolt streaks southward towards Twin Town, signaling ill intent. Simultaneously, a golden lightning bolt tears through the sky, colliding with the black one, causing an explosion that draws everyone’s attention.
In the sky, two men hover. One, bald and emaciated with a hawkish nose and thin lips, is clearly a demon with deep purple pupils. The other, a handsome and bright-eyed man with a holy aura, is the grand marshal of the deities, Feng Wuyou, who played a significant role in repelling the demons 200 years ago.
Feng Wuyou smiles at the demon and says, “Grand Marshal Xuyuan, long time no see. How have you been?”
The demon is Xuyuan, the grand marshal who led the demonic invasion and committed many atrocities on the White Land. Recognizing each other from past battles, they prepare for another confrontation.
Xuyuan glares at Feng Wuyou and shouts, “Today, I’m here for revenge! I’ve been training for 200 years to avenge my defeat. I will raze this place to the ground!”
Xuyuan unleashes black flames towards Feng Wuyou, who counters with a massive water shield. A thick mist fills the air as they clash, and both disappear in a blinding explosion.
The townspeople panic, but the village chief and patriarch of the Mu family, Mu Longtian, calms them, urging them to repair the damage and search for any injured.
Inside, Qu Lingsha, hearing the commotion, steps outside, prompting Mu Taigu to hurry her back to rest. As they return, Qu Lingsha notices a cloud shaped like an old man’s face smiling down at her.
That night, Qu Lingsha goes into labor. Mu Taigu waits anxiously while his father stands quietly outside. Soon, the cries of newborns fill the air.
Mu Taigu rushes in and cradles his newborn son, who bears a unique yin-yang birthmark. As he marvels at his child, Mu Longtian sighs, fearing it might be a curse.
Mu Taigu questions his father, who reveals the tragic history of the Mu family regarding children born without a twin. Mu Longtian decides the child must be killed to prevent future betrayal, but Qu Lingsha pleads for mercy, insisting on her loyalty and the child’s innocence.
Mu Longtian’s brother, Mu Longdi, suggests a plan to fake the death of the child’s twin, deceiving the family and townspeople. They stage a funeral, setting up a shrine and using chicken bones for ashes, successfully convincing everyone.
The story of Twin Town begins with hope and trepidation, as the Mu family prepares for an uncertain future.
