Chapter 211
Although it wasn’t a very powerful attack, it was frightening in its effect. Many people thought they would bleed to death and screamed in surrender. By using this move, she defeated many opponents along the way. But she didn’t have time to think about how many she might have actually killed.
While looking behind her, she pulled Luna and Caroline and ran forward. In the instant she turned into an alley, the area behind her suddenly lit up in a red-hot state. A huge fireball exploded in the corner where it had just been. There was also a fireball that arrived at the same time.
The time interval between casting the fireball and the explosion was very short. This was because of the amplification of the red gemstone ring on his hand (Sylas could only judge the hidden enemies from the flickering ring). Even so, it was still terrifying. Sylas wanted to attack him several times, but the cunning wizard always hid after each spell. She couldn’t see him, so she had no way to attack.
They didn’t have any protective gear, so if they were burned even a little, it would be fatal. Caroline patted her chest in fear and couldn’t help but look back. Sylas pulled her back and whispered, "Don’t look! Don’t let him catch up with us. We can’t go in a straight line."
Soon, they were out of range of the water lord and his master’s connection. Leunen disappeared into the void all at once. However, next to Sylas, the void opened again. She pulled Leunen out from inside, and he reluctantly turned into a mat. The three girls lay on the mat, and Leunen floated forward along the winding path.
Far away from the fighting, Luna curiously looked around while lying on the mat. She saw some windows half-open with curtains, but when she looked over, they quickly closed.
"Someone is spying on us. Is it an enemy?"
Sylas sighed and said, "No, it’s curious residents who are afraid of being affected." In fact, she had already restrained herself. She didn’t dare to use destructive spells here. She hadn’t forgotten Eilan’s warning that if she got injured again, she had to inform the guardian. If that happened, Maryland would definitely tell Xerath, and Xerath would be called to the school because of this indecent and unglamorous matter. Their relationship would be exposed, and she would embarrass the archmage, becoming the laughingstock of her life. Therefore, she didn’t even want the archmage to pay any attention to her.
Darn it, Sylas felt like she couldn’t handle this blow at all.
"Go to the left!"
"Why?" Caroline pointed to an alley, which seemed to be the only way to the tower.
Luna gave Caroline a strange look and said, "How are you gonna go up? Are you gonna go up from below? What if someone is hiding in the stairs? Leunen, go to the left."
Leunen sighed and reiterated, "I am not a vehicle, my lady. Let alone a sightseeing carriage for three ladies."
"Alright, alright, you’re not. You’re just carrying your master and her friends for spellcasting."
"There’s still a voice upstairs, Swis is still alive, hold on, you foolish brother…"
Sylas immediately reassured, "It’s fine, Leunen, go to that tower!"
Luna followed her hand and looked towards a rooftop path that led to the gazebo where she and Swis had planned to leap. "Over there? I can only take one person over there!"
"Don’t worry." Sylas jumped off Leunen and suddenly sprinted forward. A huge ice spike appeared on her arm as if she had a frosty fist with an icy punch. With a cry, a figure fell down the stairs. Sylas had actually knocked someone down. It was the same fighting technique she used when she had to duel with someone while rushing.
She ran fast, leaped over a low parapet wall, keeping pace with Leunen. She pressed one hand on the tentacle that Leunen extended, and cleared another obstacle. The ripple caused by her wave blocked the flying arrows. Inside the pavilion, they saw a warrior with both hands gripping an axe, leaping from the roof to the watchtower on the other side.
Caroline covered her mouth and screamed loudly, "Swis!!!"
Sylas held her and said, "Don’t be afraid, Swis. Jump over here! Hurry!"
Swis was fighting with a sword, using some new combat technique. Each time his weapon clashed, flames erupted from his sword. Maybe it was a variation of a roaring flame, as it required a delicate tool. However, his weak body was no match for an axe-wielding warrior.
"Jump? Are you crazy?!"
"Quick! I’ll have Leunen catch you!"
Leunen also looked surprised, but Sylas kicked it, and it flew away. Its fading voice could be heard saying, "I’m not an aircraft that can fly endlessly!"
"I know!" Suddenly, a rift tore open in mid-air, and water gushed out from the depths of the Endless Water Realm. Leunen was lifted by the water and met Swis in the air. Its round belly acted as a cushion and bounced Swis away, while Leunen flew straight towards the tall tower. The two axe-wielding warriors had already landed and, upon seeing them, displayed a fiercely determined expression, seemingly planning to leap over again.
But suddenly, there were sparks in the air, fog came out of Leunen and was blown away by the night wind. Gradually, the fog became thicker and the firelight became brighter. Swis landed on her sister’s water lord and asked, "What is that?"
"Don’t worry about it, hurry and go! Don’t forget there’s a wizard hiding in the dark!"
In the firelight and fog, a bright and terrifying silhouette appeared. It was like a erupting volcano, with magma continuously leaking from the top. Strange-shaped lava then engulfed two figures, their screams blown away by the fog. The entire tower started to melt from the top, and the wooden structure on the roof also caught fire, emitting thick black smoke.
Halfway through the volcanic activity, suddenly everything stopped. The firelight dimmed. She thought that maybe Leunen had gained control of the projectiles, so she left the place to catch up with her companions.
Without the tower, the enemy’s organized activities were forced to stop. They only encountered a few scattered soldiers by chance, who were then completely defeated by Sylas’s powerful attacks and various spells from everyone else. Their fate was unclear.
This stretch of road was probably less than five hundred yards, but it felt like the longest road in their lives. They returned to the inconspicuous entrance of Star Song Castle, banging on the door. The stone gargoyle flew out, humming and scolding them before finally opening the door.
As soon as the door closed behind them, everyone collectively breathed a sigh of relief. But before they could catch their breath, they heard someone banging on the glass. They turned their heads and saw a furious violin samurai.
"Dress properly! Dress properly! It’s so untidy!"
The four of them looked at each other and realized that Sylas seemed the least disheveled, while Swis’s eyes were swollen and Luna’s sleeve was torn. She muttered, "Damn it, it must have been one of those thieves!"
Caroline looked a little bit messy, with a strand of hair slightly scorched, her shirt collar all crumpled up, and her tie half pulled out. Her hood was tilted and flipped, but only Sylas was dressed neatly. She just adjusted her tie a bit, and the violin samurai stopped shouting at her.
"Let’s go back to our dormitory first. What on earth happened today?" Caroline asked, without mentioning anyone by name, but clearly staring at her foolish younger brother.
Swis tried to slip away, but Caroline grabbed him by the neck. He cried out in pain, saying, "Ouch, it hurts so much! Let go, I’m going to die from the pain…"
Caroline yanked off his shirt and pushed him into a corner for inspection. "Hmm… you just got beat up. We have to go tell the school about this right away."
Luna suddenly stood in front of Swis and grabbed Caroline’s wrist. "Are you insane? We’ve killed so many people along the way, it’s good enough if we can escape. And you actually want to go tell the school?"
"But we are…"
"No, this can’t be revealed. No one can know about this. Do you remember what happens if you use magic in combat without permission during school? The Oversight Committee would come and take you away for questioning for two weeks! This will be permanently recorded in your file! Every tower you apply to will know about this! Imagine what the wizards will think of you? A little girl who fights and kills without authorization!"
Caroline said incredulously, "What’s gotten into you?! We’re risking our lives here! We were attacked by a group of unknown people? Sylas?"
She turned to Sylas for help, but Sylas shook her head solemnly. "No, we can’t let Eilan know! This time, she will definitely inform the guardian, and Maryland won’t tolerate her anymore. She’ll go directly to Xerath. After she’s called to the school because of this disgraceful incident, she’ll be very disappointed."
My heart is about to break!
She jumped straight to the point and said firmly, "No, I don’t want anyone to know."
"Even you?" She patted Swis’ chest, "Someone wants to kill us?!"
"Then let’s act together, I’ll be responsible for protecting you all."
Luna immediately said, "Sylas is about to graduate soon, she doesn’t want any trouble, which is understandable."
"But… what about you?"
Sylas said, "The other side only has one mage, which means they can’t enter the school. As long as we don’t leave the school, we’ll be safe."
"But even you can’t protect the three of us! This person will eventually return to the dorm, right?"
"That’s easy, Luna can stay with Jane, and I’ll keep an eye on him."
Swis opened his eyes wide and said awkwardly, "I-I am a man, do you still remember that?"
Sylas frowned and asked, "Are you implying that you would dare to do something to me?"
Leunen timely floated over, crossing his arms in front of Sylas.
"I-I d-don’t dare…"
"Well, then there’s no problem. Let’s go back to our dorm."
They quickly went through half of the campus and returned to the dorm. After making sure that nobody was following them, Sylas closed the curtains and used blackout curtains that were rarely used.
When she went back to her seat, Luna was already actively taking out everyone’s schedule. "These few classes have already been tested, so I marked them off. I also marked the exam dates. Now it’s the perfect time for us to act together during this class, this class, and this class!"
Swis was always nervous and felt guilty about this matter. Apart from Caroline suspecting and implying something, no one else seemed to have any intention of holding him accountable. It was easy to understand Sylas’s motives—she was only afraid of causing unnecessary trouble before graduation. But Luna’s motives for covering for him were unknown.
