Chapter 203
"Doesn’t that mean she has interrogated many demons? Forcing them to reveal the fraudulent tricks they rely on to survive?"
"What does that have to do with me? Demons are selfish creatures. I’m sure it’s not just me, but every demon who hasn’t been interrogated doesn’t have a sense of solidarity."
"Why are you so persistent?"
"Because I like her! I must sign this contract with her. And what about you? Your indecisiveness shows that you don’t really like her. Why not find someone else!"
Sylas quickly shook her head, "No! I won’t change." She suddenly realized she had been deceived and looked up, denying, "I don’t like her…"
The demon chuckled slyly, as if seeing through everything.
Sylas slumped her shoulders in defeat, "…I just… I can’t let her know, not even the slightest bit, or she will definitely dislike me."
"You are a very charming girl. Look at me, what makes you think you won’t be loved?" If there was a moment when humans would lose their guard against a demon, it would be when they wanted to confide. Kuowa felt a crack in her defenses, her purple irises shifting slowly as magic seeped through her gaze.
"I… " Sylas stared into her purple eyes and murmured, "She doesn’t need… I’m just… I’m just… her student, her subject, her bought demon beast…"
"Who is ‘she’?" Kuowa asked slowly.
Leunen sensed something wrong and was about to attack when the succubus suddenly turned around and blew a kiss at it. A red heart floated towards it, hitting its face and blurring its entire elemental vision.
"My… my teacher, my ruler, my… my only…"
Kuowa was a little impatient. This loyal and beautiful wild beast still refused to reveal the name of its owner, which was not common in the Charm Spell.
Most contract demons would hear their owner’s name in various occasions. If given the chance, they would boast and use their owner’s name to make themselves seem superior. In the human world, even slaves or employees without any magical effects would elicit similar reactions from humans, like using the owner’s name to show authority.
Women, teachers, lords…
She suddenly remembered the first enchantment and quickly asked, "Xerath Stellar, who is she to you?"
"A ‘mentor’."
"Is she your… teacher, your lord, your only one?"
Unusual brilliance flashed in the green eyes. Even under the enchantment, she trembled and answered, "Yes… yes…"
The demon laughed silently and snapped its fingers in front of Sylas.
"Good girl, wake up and beg her nicely. Write a letter to her with precise and polite wording. No one wants to miss your farewell ball, you are the pride of everyone." It was getting more and more fun.
Sylas blinked her eyes and suddenly woke up from her daze. "Will this work? I’m still afraid… I kept it a secret from her… I squeezed four years of courses into two years. I’m not sure if she will be happy about it…"
"Why not?" Kuowa helped her count. "First, tuition fees are very expensive. You saved her money, even the stingiest slave owner would like that. Second, she allowed you to attend advanced school because she wants you to excel academically. Your grades speak for themselves. Graduating in two years, with the exception of history, you got A+ in everything else. You even got four silk threads all at once, which is rare in the history of Star Song Castle. If she has any expectations for your grades, she would definitely be proud of this. Lastly," she squeezed her pretty eyes, "let me think of another way. You know, it’s human nature. If someone tries to take it away…"
She released Sylas’s hand and slid out herself. Seeing their hands about to separate, Sylas couldn’t help but hold her tight.
Kuowa suddenly turned back into her embrace, consciously half bending down, and pressed Sylas’s hand against her waist. She smiled and said, "This is the weakness of human nature. Even if they don’t want it anymore, once someone tries to take it away, their heart will hesitate."
She slid out of Sylas’s embrace once again, opened the window, and without looking back, said, "I miss Eilan, I want to go back and find her. Goodbye!"
Sylas still had no idea what had happened, but she could already hear the sound of wings cutting through the wind. The demon flew away, spreading its huge wings, gliding in the air, becoming an evil silhouette against the moon.
Dean Eilan had been teaching for twenty years and had already bought a house near the school for convenience. Kuowa circled in the air, flew over the roof of Sisters Hall, and then entered the diving phase. This way, she only needed to extend her wings to go home, without having to flap them.
Demons are powerful creatures, and their power is bound by corresponding rules. For example, their strength can sometimes destroy an entire building, but they cannot enter a window without an invitation. It is the rule of their power that restricts them, unless the demon is a servant of that household.
Eilan’s window was the only one that Kuowa could enter and exit freely. Her ethereal servant could grow from the window sill and easily unlatch the window lock for her.
The owner of the house seemed to have just finished bathing. They were sitting on a chair in front of the bed, wearing a black robe and reading a book. A glowing sphere floated above their head, and a little ghost in a butler’s outfit nervously brought hot water for them. It let out a big sigh of relief when they waved it away.
Kuowa pounced onto the back of the chair and popped her head out, saying, "Eilan, do you want to know who Sylas’s owner is?"
"Hmm? Who is it?" Eilan didn’t even lift her head, her attention still on the book in her hand. This book was beautifully made, with illustrations on almost every page. It depicted fierce battles between skeletal dragons led by the Bone General and dragons fighting against elves.
"If you give me a kiss, I’ll tell you."
Eilan raised her head indifferently. "You’ve gotten all dusty again, haven’t you? Go take a bath, or you won’t be allowed on the bed."
Kuowa pouted unwillingly. "Are you really not going to kiss me? Even just at home?"
Eilan gestured toward the bathroom with her lips. "Should I stuff you in there?"
"If you dare, go ahead," the succubus taunted.
Eilan nodded, stood up, and suddenly took a step forward. With a swift motion, she crossed and bound Kuowa’s hands behind her back, using her own tail to secure them. Then, she hoisted Kuowa onto her shoulder and walked into the bathroom.
The coat was thrown from outside the bathroom door, followed by a collar, then a tight leather jacket, black lace panties, a corset, and finally knee-high socks and suspenders.
The sound of water came, and the succubus whispered or shrieked, mixed with Eilan’s panting.
After a while, all these sounds stopped. Eilan walked out, holding the succubus wrapped in a white towel with both hands. The blanket was blown away by the wind, and the glowing ball fell and disappeared before the light vanished. Eilan threw the succubus onto the bed with excitement, but just as her snow-white body was revealed, it was covered by another shadow.
After some breaths, Eilan asked in a indifferent voice, "Even so, you still won’t tell me?"
"No, no," the demon gasped, but still stubbornly said, "If you don’t kiss me, I won’t tell."
Eilan chuckled twice, "I should let you know who’s in charge."
"I bet you won’t be able to resist kissing me before a sandglass runs out."
"I accept the bet."
The next day, Sylas encountered Eilan and Kuowa on the floating path. The succubus and Eilan were wearing identical windbreakers, seeming like something had happened. Both of them looked away, avoiding eye contact with each other. When Eilan saw Sylas, she politely and distantly nodded.
Kuowa pouted, and Sylas wondered if she was upset because she didn’t get a kiss.
Today’s classes were not too many. In the afternoon, Sylas didn’t have any classes. It was also a new time for afternoon tea, and everyone was there. Slote baked a cake in the oven and just brought it to the table.
The children thanked her, and then Swis cleared her throat and announced, "I have many new discoveries. Although as my comrades, you should have joined me in unraveling this mystery, but you didn’t."
"Get to the point," Caroline tapped him.
"Didn’t you ask me what I’ve been up to lately?"
"You’re finally willing to tell?" Sister displayed her authority.
Swis defiantly shrugged, and the pendant on her ear gently swayed. "I’ve made a lot of progress on my own."
The three girls sat at one end of the table, while Swis sat alone at the other end as if being interrogated.
"You really look like someone from a different race, the kind who goes out looking for men."
Swis looked at Luna with a sideways glance and asked, "Do you want to listen to a story or argue?"
"Listen to a story, listen to a story," Luna quickly backed down.
"Alright, let’s start with Veses’s story. Do you all know that Star Song Castle has many thriving sports?"
Of course they didn’t know. Everyone shook their heads. The wizards would rather not move if they didn’t have to, and even Sylas, who ran while casting spells, was considered active.
Only Mrs. Slote pushed her glasses up.
"Mrs. Slote, it seems like you have something to say. As a local from Star Song Castle, do you have any thoughts?"
"Of course I know there are many long-standing sports here, and even local people organize leagues. But I’m guessing you’re referring to a specific one?"
Swis nodded, "Yes, Octagonal Ball."
"What is Octagonal Ball?" Sylas asked. She always felt a bit overwhelmed trying to understand these endless little things that kept popping up from time to time.
Mrs. Slote kindly explained, "Octagonal Ball is a game played on an eight-sided table. Everyone uses wooden sticks to hit wooden balls into the holes in the corners of the table. It is popular in some areas near Methylani Principality. Almost every pub has an Octagonal Ball table, and there are even dedicated Octagonal Ball rooms in the suburbs."
"Octagonal Ball is very popular. Nearby taverns even have underground Octagonal Ball leagues. On the day Veses mentioned in his measurement report, he went to play in the Octagonal Ball league, so he couldn’t have been measuring crystals at the same time."
