Chapter 36: Being a Beast

Luo Ji’s first thought was to launch an offensive!

At such a close distance, he had no intention of giving up the initiative.

Taking games as an example.

Upon discovering another city-state, if you wanted to attack, you had to be quick.

Otherwise, those beasts would snatch up resources while getting bolder and building sub-cities right next to your main city.

After building, they would even condemn you for being too close to them!

Of course, this was another world essentially identical to reality, and while the people of the opposing tribe were natives, they weren’t that idiotic.

But this couldn’t deter Luo Ji’s resolve.

As the saying goes, how can one allow others to sleep soundly beside their bed?

Luo Ji wasn’t afraid of going to war.

With the advantage of weapons and the special units in his hands, he wasn’t nervous at all if a fight truly broke out.

What he was worried about was that going to war would slow down the tribe’s development speed.

During this time, he had been focusing almost entirely on building defensive structures.

Because he knew very well that in this era where there was basically nothing, once the Mirror tribe established defensive structures, they would essentially have absolute initiative.

If they wanted to launch an offensive, they could.

If they wanted to defend, they could do that too.

Backed by Mirror Lake’s ample fish resources, fortified by outer defensive structures to resist foreign invasion, and cultivating plots of land within the city, the Mirror Tribe stood formidable.

This, combined with Zhao Pan’s ‘Immovable as a Mountain’ defensive ability, utterly convinced Luo Ji that whoever came, their efforts would be useless!

“Do you believe I can farm in this city until the end of time?”

However, at this moment, Luo Ji’s farming plan had clearly hit a wall.

In this ancient era, building a circle of defensive structures that would protect the entire tribe was not that simple.

He needed a lot of manpower, material resources, and time.

Furthermore, under this premise, he couldn’t avoid the appearance of enemies or other tribes…

“Did you scout out any information?”

Luo Ji was very certain that given Luo Jin’s personality, there was no way he would run back to report without figuring anything out.

“I infiltrated for a distance and confirmed the number of tents in the opponent’s camp.”

“Based on the number, the population of that tribe might be around 70 people.”

Luo Ji’s eye twitched upon hearing this news.

Based on total population, the Mirror tribe, which currently had 97 people, still held a clear advantage, but the problem was that this piece of meat was a bit big and not that easy to swallow.

Even if they won, after taking in the population of this tribe, they wouldn’t be able to manage them.

Simply put, forcibly swallowing them would likely lead to indigestion.

When Luo Ji first arrived in this other world, the reason he was able to swallow a tribe so smoothly was because the opposing tribal chief had very low Leadership, which essentially meant he didn’t know how to manage the tribe.

Coupled with having just experienced a blizzard, the morale and loyalty of every tribal member had subtly decreased.

Which gave Luo Ji an opportunity to exploit and easily annex them.

And when it came to the Red Fox tribe, Zhou Tao, who was skilled in managing tribes, clearly made Luo Ji suffer a bit back then and made him realize this problem.

Fortunately, the total population of the Red Fox tribe wasn’t large, so it didn’t cause too much trouble.

But this newly discovered tribe was different.

A chief who could manage a tribe with a population of this level would have a ‘Leadership’ level of at least 3 stars.

This meant that the members of this tribe had a certain degree of loyalty towards their chief.

Swallowing them would easily lead to indigestion, and wiping them out would be a waste of time and unrewarding.

It was truly a dilemma.

Lost in thought, Luo Ji barely felt the passage of time.

This state lasted for who knows how long.

Suddenly coming back to his senses, he slapped his forehead fiercely.

“Damn it!”

“How did I get caught in this loop?”

“Wiping them out isn’t cost-effective, and I can’t swallow them whole, so why not just drive them away!”

Luo Ji, who now had a plan, clearly felt refreshed.

He had decided that now, he was going to be a beast!

Early the next morning, he gathered everyone together and, after laying out the plan, Luo Ji set off with the tribe’s seven wolf warriors.

There were no incidents along the way, and they reached the outer area of the enemy tribe quite smoothly.

Through his mask, he calmly observed the barbarian tribe in the distance.

With the advantage of higher ground and the cover of the surrounding trees, the opponent had not discovered their presence for the time being.

Luo Ji was not in a hurry to act.

There was still some time before the plan was to be executed.

He looked back at Luo Jin, who was responsible for leading the way, and said to him.

“The plan remains unchanged. Go to the location confirmed this morning to meet up with the follow-up troops.”

“Understood.”

Luo Jin, having received the order, did not delay and quickly withdrew.

In this forest area, only the eight wolf warriors, including Luo Ji, remained.

Time passed minute by minute.

Looking at the sun slowly setting in the western sky, Luo Ji let out a long breath, then raised the stone spear in his hand.

Without holding back, he directly activated the ‘Inspire Morale’ skill.

“Move out!”

Almost at the moment Luo Ji roared these two words.

The seven wolf warriors, who had been ready to go for a long time, simultaneously charged out from the forest, heading straight towards the tribal camp below.

They had been waiting for this moment for too long!

Their sprinting figures dashed across the snow.

The cold wind howled in their ears, but they didn’t feel a hint of cold.

Blood boiling?

No!

Their blood was burning!!

Their approach was quickly discovered, inevitably causing a commotion.

However, to Luo Ji’s surprise, facing the wolf warriors of their tribe, the warriors of the opposing tribe did not retreat.

Had the ‘Intimidate’ effect of the wolf warriors not worked?

Impossible!

That could only mean that the morale value of these tribal members had not dropped below 60 points, so they were still above the passing line and had not entered a negative state.

This situation made Luo Ji even more clearly realize that this was a tough nut to crack, but the more this was the case, the more he couldn’t let such a threat remain so close to their Mirror tribe!

The warriors from both tribes quickly clashed.

As the defending side, excluding the women, children, and elderly who had basically no combat ability, the enemy tribe could be said to have everyone as soldiers, and they had a clear advantage in numbers.

However, the wolf warriors under Luo Ji were not to be trifled with.

The ability bonus of the special units had already given them a considerable advantage.

Furthermore, they were holding stone axes and stone spears meticulously sharpened by the armament department, which further expanded this advantage.

How could the combat power they unleashed be comparable to that of ordinary barbarian warriors?

After being sharpened, the edge of the stone axes already had some sharpness.

In just one encounter, one of the barbarian warriors was cut down to the ground.

Fighting with fewer numbers against more, in the initial clash, the wolf warriors not only did not fall into a disadvantage, but instead quickly suppressed the enemies before them with the ferocity of their offense!
