Chapter 32: Development Plan

During dinner, Luo Yong and the others, who had trained all day, clearly had increased appetites.

This was within Luo Ji’s expectations and also one of the main reasons why he didn’t train soldiers on a large scale but only selected a few elites.

Thanks to the fish resources of Mirror Lake, the members of the Mirror tribe had temporarily said goodbye to having no food.

But this didn’t mean they had plenty of food to support a warrior unit that needed to undergo high-intensity training every day, unless they found high-yield staple foods!

As a modern person, Luo Ji clearly realized that he needed high-yield staple foods like flour and rice.

Why did tribes in this era always face food scarcity?

Because their main food source was hunting, and they completely lacked the experience and awareness of growing their own food.

But Luo Ji had this awareness, so he had already asked the scouting team and hunting team members to keep an eye out for fruits and vegetables during their missions.

Whether they could find any could only be left to luck.

However, Luo Ji was not someone who would foolishly wait for luck to arrive.

Before luck arrived, he would do his best and prepare everything he could.

He had already organized a more detailed development plan in his mind and also found a piece of animal hide to plan the division of areas around the entire Mirror tribe.

Which area should be left open to build the military camp, and which area should be reserved for planting crops, he planned to decide all of this in advance.

Early the next morning, carrying the plan he had drawn, he called upon two followers from the tribe who had a maximum ‘Intelligence’ of 3 stars and set off.

Considering various aspects, the area planned for planting crops in the future definitely couldn’t be too far from the tribe and the water source…

“This is it.”

After inspecting the area, Luo Ji finally found a relatively suitable spot.

He then beckoned to a young follower behind him.

“Find some time later to have the logging team prioritize clearing this area.”

“Then, have the people from the fishing team responsible for digging bait come over and turn over the soil in this area while digging for bait.”

“Oh, right, and also, from now on, everyone’s feces should be collected and used on this land.”

Luo Ji was clearly an amateur when it came to knowledge about planting crops, but he did know that when he was little, the vegetables in his grandfather’s field were fertilized with manure.

What he was doing now, in agricultural terms, was actually called ‘accumulating fertilizer.’

And the members of the Mirror tribe had clearly become gradually accustomed to the occasional strange orders from their wise chief.

For example, a while ago he had gone through a lot of effort to give each tent a wooden basin called a ‘chamber pot,’ specifically for containing their excrement.

Things like this were clearly incomprehensible to people living in this era and seemed like unnecessary trouble.

But since Luo Ji had said so, they did it.

It turned out that after those wooden basins were distributed, the tribe indeed became much cleaner, and Luo Ji no longer encountered upsetting incidents when walking around.

After explaining the matter of this farmland to that young follower, the subsequent tasks would be relayed by that follower.

As the chief, he really didn’t have that much time to do everything himself.

Taking his other young follower with him, Luo Ji walked to the outskirts of the tribal camp with a branch.

He planned to mark out the area for the defense project.

Quite a bit of timber had already been piled up, so it was time to start building it slowly.

Having just finished these two things, it was already nearing noon.

Luo Ji stretched, then scooped himself a bowl of hot water and sipped it slowly.

In his mind, he continued to think about his development plan.

He was unexpectedly enthusiastic about such days, or rather, he was enjoying the sense of accomplishment from gradually building up his tribe.

However, just as he was preparing to select candidates for the engineering team to build the defense works, the long unheard system notification sounded in his mind…

[System Notification: Congratulations to player ‘Luo Ji’ for successfully crafting a ‘Stone Spear.’ You have gained 50 civilization points and 1 military point.]

“Huh?”

Hearing this system notification, Luo Ji’s expression clearly froze.

“Stone spear?”

“Wasn’t that already made?”

This state lasted for two or three seconds, and then Luo Ji, as if suddenly remembering something, slapped his forehead.

“I remember now!”

“The one made before was called a ‘Crude Stone Spear’!”

“That means, the Armament Department has made progress!?”

He had just thought of this, and before he could do anything.

A young man from the Armament Department had already rushed to him, full of excitement, showing the results of their work over the past few days.

“Chief, look at this!”

Having already have an idea of what was happening after hearing the system notification.

Luo Ji instinctively took the stone spear from the other person’s hand and his gaze immediately fell upon the crucial spearhead.

Immediately, his eyes lit up.

He reached out and felt the unusually smooth and sharp spearhead, then looked at the nervous young man beside him.

“You made this?”

The young man, whose excitement had slightly subsided, became noticeably nervous when facing Luo Ji. He nodded vigorously.

“Yes, yes! I made it.”

“Well done! I am very satisfied!”

Not reserving his praise, compared to the crude stone spear he had made by casually finding a few decent stones before, this one clearly matched the style of the stone spear he had envisioned.

After a moment of brief joy.

Luo Ji’s gaze fell back on the clearly still nervous young man.

He then smiled.

“Relax. I think your name is Liu Shu, right?”

“Yes, yes! My name is Liu Shu!”

Liu Shu was full of excitement, he didn’t expect the chief to remember his name.

Casually opening the other party’s attribute panel.

The five members of the Armament Department were all personally selected by him.

All meeting the double 3 star maximum ‘Endurance’ and ‘Spirit’ standard.

He had this in mind.

However, perhaps due to the work of the past few days, Liu Shu’s previously blank skill panel now had a ‘Weapon Sharpening’ skill.

“From today onwards, you are the Head of the Armament Department.”

As he spoke, Luo Ji put the sharpened stone spear back into Liu Shu’s hand.

“Make more stone spears like this one. And don’t neglect sharpening the stone axes either. Tonight, as a reward for producing results, your Armament Department will get one extra fish for dinner. Keep it up, do a good job.”

“Thank you, Chief, I will definitely work even harder!”

Being remembered by the chief and receiving his praise had already greatly lifted Liu Shu’s spirits.

He never expected to get an extra fish for dinner!

In this era of food scarcity where eating was a luxury, this was undoubtedly a huge reward.

Thinking of the delicious fish soup and tender fish meat, his stomach was already growling.

Watching Liu Shu, full of motivation, rush back to the Armament Department tent, Luo Ji nodded in satisfaction.

Regarding food distribution, he had never aimed for fairness.

The minimum was that everyone had something to eat, but under this premise, if you wanted to eat better or eat more, you had to produce results.

Luo Ji wasn’t some benevolent figure.

For example, those like Zhou Tao and his group.

They had only joined the tribe recently, hadn’t shown much value yet, and their loyalty to him was still low.

So, for over twenty of them, they only got one pot of fish soup.

It was that simple.
