Chapter 33: The E District Legion Headquarters That Terrifies The Slums
Gu Ran opened a spatial portal, glanced at the landmark buildings on the ground to confirm his direction, and continued teleporting forward.
Before long, he located his target: the headquarters of the legion in District E!
For military camps without space interference devices, Gu Ran was essentially an unpreventable threat. He moved freely through the headquarters, casually searching for his target—William Duville, the highest-ranking military officer in District E.
Thanks to his spatial abilities, no one in the camp could detect him. Gu Ran thought for a moment but didn’t immediately capture someone for interrogation. After all, William Duville, as the top commander, wouldn’t have his whereabouts known by just any soldier. However, Gu Ran had already scouted the area and knew there was no beast tide in District E at the moment, meaning William Duville was most likely in the headquarters.
At that moment, a blonde, long-legged female officer, holding a whip, walked into a secluded room. Her figure formed an alluring S-curve, with her ample chest stretching the black military uniform to its limits. Her bright red lipstick was so intense it almost seemed stained with blood.
However, her outfit didn’t seem appropriate for fighting beasts—it looked more like…
Gu Ran frowned but said nothing, quietly following her.
The female officer opened the door to the secluded room, scanned the area with cold eyes, and said indifferently, “Don’t even think about resisting or escaping. This is the legion headquarters, you won’t get away. Besides, being favored by the General is a blessing for you.”
“Think about it. You’re just a bunch of lowly people from the slums. The General is a member of the Duville family from the inner city, a world apart from your previous status. If it weren’t for your looks catching his eye, you’d never get the attention of such an important figure.”
Inside the secluded room were young girls and boys, all taken from the slums. Hearing the officer’s words, instead of feeling honored by the General’s favor, they trembled in fear.
For good reason—rumors about General Duville from District E were widely known.
The General, who oversaw District E, had a notorious preference for young and beautiful boys and girls. Some of those selected by the General once believed they had lucked out, thinking they’d escape the slums. But the slum dwellers never saw them again. The General continued selecting new victims, and those chosen also disappeared without a trace.
Their acquaintances initially believed the chosen ones had moved to the inner city and were living good lives, so even though they never saw them again, they thought nothing of it, some even feeling deep envy.
That was until rumors surfaced about General Duville’s sadistic tendencies. All the selected individuals were tortured and killed. Then, in a nearby wilderness near the legion headquarters, a mass grave containing hundreds, if not thousands, of bodies was discovered.
The young boys and girls rumored to have gone to the inner city for a better life were all buried there, and their personal belongings, found in the grave, confirmed their identities to their friends and families.
From then on, everyone avoided being selected by the legion at all costs.
The officers sent by the headquarters to pick victims, frustrated by the lack of volunteers, dropped their pretense and began abducting people outright. This only confirmed that being chosen by the General was not a blessing, and the reputations of the officers and General Duville plummeted.
But the noble General Duville didn’t care. He likely didn’t even know how his subordinates gathered people for him—he only cared about the results. The officers sent to collect “beauties” no longer bothered hiding their true intentions. Though it made their work harder, the weak slum dwellers were no match for them. Once they learned how to exploit these people’s social connections to threaten them, they had no choice but to comply, selling out their daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, or even friends.
The female officer cracked her whip across the boys and girls. “If you don’t want to suffer, you’d better behave!”
Gu Ran, his expression cold, opened a portal and appeared in the room.
He had read gossip about William Duville’s preferences in a magazine, but he hadn’t expected it to be true.
“Who are you?” The female officer shouted in shock.
But soon, she realized her breathing was becoming difficult. The space around her thickened, as if she were sinking into mud.
It was the same technique Gu Ran had used to punish Kelly Duville, distorting space to create a sealed environment where the air thinned out.
The officer’s once seductive face quickly turned purple, and the boys and girls in the room looked at Gu Ran with trembling fear.
Seeing these lambs ready for slaughter, Gu Ran sighed.
If he hadn’t awakened his spatial abilities, his fate might have been similar to these boys and girls—powerless in the face of such authority, waiting in despair for death.
After teleporting the boys and girls to a safe area far from the legion headquarters, Gu Ran released the female officer.
“Take me to William Duville!” Gu Ran ordered, staring at the coughing, gasping officer.
“If you want to experience that again, feel free to refuse me.”
