Chapter 37: My Jin Family Servant
"What is this thing?" Li Hui shook his arm, having already broken the seventh vertebra of the decayed corpse with a bit of effort, and pulled out a golden pearl the size of an ox’s eye. Green and black pus sprayed everywhere, and the stench of rotting flesh was overwhelming, nearly causing him to faint.
"This pearl is strange; with the Nine Patterns Spirit Sense Talisman, I could only see a spherical shadow. It naturally isolates spiritual energy and perception, no wonder it wasn’t discovered by the Hidden Sky Sect."
With no time to study it further, Li Hui headed for the sixth level. As soon as he stepped onto the sixth level, the golden bell guarding him vibrated.
“Boom…” The golden bell was under attack, more perilous than when facing the screen and guqin on the first level.
A glance revealed twelve magical artifacts floating in the air, with the ceiling etched with constellations and the ground inscribed with mountains and rivers, as if using the Jade Pavilion’s power to form a grand array to protect a luxurious treasure chest at the center.
“Eight-pattern artifacts? Nine-pattern artifacts? Heh, how greedy! Anyone who opens that treasure chest will face dire consequences.”
“Wait, I see! There’s a hidden compartment at the bottom of the chest. Is that Miao Jade? Riches are always fraught with danger.” Li Hui strode forward. The twelve magical artifacts, energized by the array, attacked with astonishing speed, causing cracks to appear in his protective golden bell.
“Blood Ignition Talisman, rush!” Li Hui pushed himself, using not the blood-colored Nine Patterns Blood Ignition Talisman but a regular one. The silver snake bracelet had consumed so much that it had only slightly dropped from its peak state, but it still had formidable enhancement for ordinary talismans. If he could destroy just one magical artifact, his chances of victory would increase significantly.
“Burn, burn, burn! Explode! My hot blood!”
“Ow, ow, ow…” Li Hui threw his head back and howled, his body swelling as he transformed into an afterimage the instant the golden bell shattered, casting the Cloud-Brush Dragon Claw Technique, releasing a vast amount of golden patterns from his arms.
In a daze, it seemed a pair of dragon claws truly reached out from the clouds, stabilizing the constellations above and the geography below, causing the formations to ripple slightly as he pressed down on two magical artifacts.
The two magical artifacts, adorned with nine patterns, transformed into small specks of light beneath the dragon claws, causing the array to tremble violently. Without hesitation, Li Hui reached for a nearby bronze tower magical artifact, seizing the opportunity.
Blood was burning!!!
Despite the risks of such an explosion, Li Hui pushed aside his worries. As long as he kept satisfying the silver snake bracelet, he might end up with a few more Nine Patterns Spirit Sense Talismans.
“Bang, bang, bang…” Loud explosions rang out as magical artifacts were destroyed one after another; soon, only the central treasure chest remained.
Li Hui grinned as he grabbed the treasure chest, his form flickering as he returned the way he came.
Outside the Jade Pavilion, Liu Feng and Junior Sister had hastily bandaged their wounds and swallowed some healing medicine but still felt shaken.
"Hmph, that guy claiming to be Zhang Tianhua is too detestable," Junior Sister said, her small fists clenched, swinging them but inadvertently pulling her wound, tears welling in her eyes again.
"He showed mercy when facing you. Otherwise, if he had used such powerful talismans from the start, you wouldn’t have made it out alive," Liu Feng looked up at the Jade Pavilion, a sense of melancholy rising in his heart, "With someone so formidable wreaking havoc, can we really hold the Jade Pavilion? No, my standing in the sect will surely decline, and I won’t be able to become an Inner Sect Disciple. I can’t let him leave, even if it means we perish together."
In that moment, he still believed the opponent was a hidden expert, a significant figure in the Jade Symbol Sect.
"Yes! If he had used that powerful Golden Sword Talisman against me from the start…" Junior Sister’s thoughts were evidently influenced by Liu Feng, puffing out her chest and sneering, "Men will always cherish women under my extraordinary beauty; there can’t be exceptions!"
As the young girl mused, an exception arrived.
Liu Feng saw the treasure chest in Li Hui’s hands; he immediately realized what it was and quickly pulled Junior Sister back.
He was prepared to fight to the death, if necessary, but right now, there wasn’t even a chance for that. This treasure chest clearly did not function as intended; instead, it had become a tool for the enemy. As soon as it was opened in his direction, not only could he not fight back, he would surely meet his end within three steps.
Additionally, Liu Feng felt a chill; he knew the layout of the top floor of the Jade Pavilion. The combination of those twelve magical artifacts, constellations, and geography array maps had power so immense that even Inner Sect Disciples could perish, yet here stood Zhang Tianhua from the Jade Symbol Sect, completely unharmed.
"Inner Sect Brothers and Sisters of the Hidden Sky Sect, the rivers and mountains remain unchanged. We shall meet again," Li Hui laughed heartily, deliberately adopting a carefree demeanor, seemingly disregarding the two, but his legs felt weak beneath him.
The aftereffects of the Blood Ignition Talisman were beginning to show.
With such powerful explosive force and terrifying speed, Li Hui’s body, with only two Patterns of Spirit Motion, could barely handle it. If he hadn’t gnawed on a ginseng root in the water prison, he would have collapsed before making it out of the Jade Pavilion.
Liu Feng’s eyes burned with hatred as he helplessly watched the nightmare-like enemy stride away. He hurried to the first level of the Jade Pavilion, looking at the cracks in the wall that were almost repaired.
“Quick! Hurry up! As long as we activate the teleportation array, the sect will surely send a high-level expert!”
Just as Li Hui slipped out of sight, he suddenly felt unable to move. The Nine Patterns Spirit Sense Talisman still stuck to his forehead showed no signs of fading.
He scanned his surroundings; within a three-mile radius, everything was crystal clear, unaffected by the night. He could even see shop signs on the street beyond the high courtyard walls, finally realizing he was in Fusu City.
"Uh, what a terrifying wooden building. It seems they don’t know at all!" Li Hui looked at the quiet wooden building he had passed earlier, still hearing voices coming from it. He learned that only two disciples were guarding the Jade Pavilion.
This wooden building had layers in both the floor and walls, filled with stacked bones. The foundation was even more horrifying; it resembled a mass grave, a dense and chaotic pile of corpses. Even with the sensitivity of the Spirit Sense Talisman on his forehead, he couldn’t see the bottom.
“Boom, boom, boom…” Vibrations came from the direction of the Jade Pavilion, followed by dazzling light pillars descending, illuminating Fusu City as bright as day.
Li Hui squinted, seeing silhouettes descending amid the beams of light, thinking, “This situation doesn’t seem right! I should hide in that wooden building up ahead; I might need to pretend to be a corpse for a few more days.”
Meanwhile, on the nearest mountain to Fusu City, someone stood on the cliff, holding dark yellow talisman paper, gazing out.
“Senior Brother, is that the guiding spiritual light of the teleportation array?” Zheng Tianxiang flicked the blood from his sword, with a corpse lying at his feet, looking somewhat shocked as he stared towards Fusu City.
"Yes, someone has activated the teleportation array, and Li Hui is also in Fusu City." A handsome man with golden eyes smiled coldly, his robe fluttering, "He has touched the top-tier artifact prepared for me and stolen a large sum of money from my uncle. Thankfully my uncle is cautious; he collected his hair to make tracking talismans. Heh, my Jin family hasn’t faced such a situation in a hundred years. A servant dares to rebel? I will have him live if I want him to live; I will have him die if I want him to die… there are no exceptions! But my goal is not this; it’s merely to deal with this small servant along the way!"
