Chapter 111: Encounter with Formidable Foes
“Boom boom…” In the teleportation hall, dust poured from the walls, and many scraps of bone fell down. Moments later, nine massive heads flowed in one after another.
After a while, Li Hui jumped down from the tunnel entrance above ground. He saw that the teleportation array inside the cave was still flickering, indicating that the formation had yet to stabilize.
Chef Zhao and Huo Qiniang also jumped down, and upon realizing there were no enemies, their hearts filled with joy.
Li Hui fixed his gaze on the artifacts, talismans, vials of alchemy, and blank talisman paper in the teleportation array, and golden patterns began to emanate from his arms.
Clearly, the outside world didn’t wish for the practitioners trapped in the maze to lose their combat power, so in addition to food drops, they also provided what was needed. Artifacts and pills were one thing, but talismans and blank talisman paper were the lifeline for Jade Symbol disciples.
Suddenly, the light converged, and the formation opened wide.
Li Hui unleashed the Cloud-Brush Dragon Claw Technique with all his might, launching hundreds of items toward him. The artifacts disintegrated in mid-air.
“Hurry, what are you waiting for?”
Chef Zhao and Huo Qiniang snapped to attention, rushing forward with their bags of treasures strapped to their backs.
Without time to check their haul, Li Hui sent the items into his bag of treasures with a wave of his hand. He didn’t stop with his right hand—dragon claw phantoms fiercely brushed toward the just-opened teleportation array.
“Who goes there?” Those at several other entrances in the hall heard the commotion and rushed over frantically.
The nine heads flew up to intercept, but Li Hui stayed undeterred, pouring all his efforts into grabbing useful items until he had stuffed twenty bags of treasures to bursting, tying them around his waist before heading to support the Nine Heads.
“Kid, you’ve got some guts, daring to touch the belongings of our Purple Gray Sect.” Two Concentrating Spirit cultivators roared in fury, wielding their artifact hammers to strike at the Yin-Yang Nine Heads, which clanked loudly. If it weren’t for the tough skin and strong flesh of the heads, they would have charged in long ago to deliver heavy blows.
“Ha ha ha, since this is the Purple Gray Sect, that makes sense. The Three Sects and Four Sects have been merciless in exterminating our Jade Symbol, so stealing some of your supplies doesn’t even count as interest,” Li Hui said, taking out the Poison Flame Acupoint Nails and flicking them forward, releasing streaks of cold light that forced the two to swing their hammers in defense. However, they still felt their speed slow down, several acupoints being sealed, and small flames of poison skittering around their bodies, even invading their meridians.
“Jade Symbol remnants!” The two shouted, striking their bags of treasures to unleash light and shadow, quickly activating their artifacts into blinding bright lights aimed at Li Hui.
“Top-tier artifacts?” Li Hui felt a chill in his heart. Artifacts nearing the level of magical treasures were indeed top-tier and underwent additional forging on nine patterns, which he hadn’t realized before, but now saw the significant differences within.
The Nine Heads simultaneously ignited demonic flames; they didn’t exist independently but instead formed an extraordinary formation, meant to alleviate disasters for their master.
With Yin and Yang flipped, and the universe reversed, Li Hui noticed the two blinding rays of light stutter slightly due to the delay, then falter again. He seized the opportunity to pull out the Green Wood Eight Trigram Shield, making a soft “thud” sound as he raised the shield, enveloped in green light.
The Green Wood Eight Trigram Shield was a genuine artifact of the Jade Symbol Sect, and although Li Hui didn’t have many other items, he did have various artifacts. However, blocking both Concentrating Spirit cultivators’ full-force attacks at the same time still seemed impossible.
“Cloud-Brush Dragon Claw Technique!!!”
As the green light shields the two blinding rays, a never-ending stream of dragon claw phantoms rushed at them. The two Purple Gray cultivators couldn’t believe their eyes; they were losing control of their artifacts.
“No!” The two practitioners coughed up blood and retreated.
Li Hui could tell that the artifacts they released must have undergone blood refinement; they were life-bound tools connected closely to their masters. What prospered for one prospered for all, and what harmed one harmed all.
“Break, break, break!”
Seeing them weakened, Li Hui became increasingly skilled with the Cloud-Brush Dragon Claw Technique, and due to the silver snake bracelet, the technique seemed to undergo some transformation. The absorbing power of the bracelet gradually intertwined with his attacks, specializing in breaking all types of artifacts.
“Puff…” The two Purple Gray practitioners coughed up blood again and retreated, their spirits visibly deflated as they completely lost control of their artifacts, watching helplessly as their precious weapons shattered into scraps.
Suddenly, a terrifying aura swept in. Without time to think, Li Hui’s left thumb trembled, pointing at the Green Wood Eight Trigram Shield, causing the green light to expand.
“Boom…” The newcomer struck, and the Green Wood Eight Trigram Shield shattered, but thankfully, it unleashed most of its talisman light, continuously orbiting the enemy’s hand to negate some momentum. Golden light surged around Li Hui, allowing him to finally block the terrifying assault.
“Hmm, Vajra Armor from the Buddhist sect, with extensive Dragon Scale patterns?” The newcomer was surprised, glancing around and preparing to attack, but the Yin-Yang Nine Heads howled toward him.
“Bang, bang, bang…” The nine heads bared their teeth, many parts of their faces dented with clear handprints visible, yet the magical dragon eyes on the backs of their heads rapidly accumulated.
“Buzz!!” A terrifying magic eye opened in the air, startling the enemy, who took a step back, but his gaze was already locked, causing his speed to slow down.
“What is this?” the enemy gasped, while Li Hui yelled, “Fatty, Qiniang, hurry and leave!”
Chef Zhao and Huo Qiniang were very alert and already began to retreat upon hearing the command, rushing wildly towards the entrance. Li Hui recalled the Nine Heads and drew his most powerful artifact, the Thunderbolt Whip made from the six-pattern talisman, and the Wutu Rock Mountain Seal made from the seven-pattern talisman.
The enemy was simply too powerful; there were no signs of Concentrating Spirit behind him, yet a faint light flickered at his brow, indicating he had gathered enough spiritual energy into his dantian to begin entering the Spirit Nourishing stage, meaning he was at least a mid-Condensed Essence practitioner.
Li Hui felt bitter. Using the magical dragon eyes for distant observation, he couldn’t see through the opponent’s cultivation; had he known there were Condensed Essence experts here, he would have avoided this place altogether.
At this point, he had no choice but to fight and retreat, looking for an opportunity to shake off the strong enemy.
With the Nine Heads circling around, Li Hui quickly retreated. When he was about a dozen yards from the entrance, the Condensed Essence practitioner had already shut out the magical dragon eye’s interference and rushed toward him with speed.
“Attack!” Li Hui shouted, using the enhancement he had just received from the silver snake bracelet, which had just absorbed most of the artifacts from the teleportation array, to amplify the Thunderbolt Whip. He raised its power from six patterns to seven, and even up half a level beyond that, whipping it toward the enemy.
“Crack, crack, crack…” The electric sparks and whip shadows surged simultaneously. The Condensed Essence practitioner was astounded, secretly thinking, “This kid actually has such a fierce artifact!”
Artifacts were valuable due to their terrifying power.
At that moment, the Thunderbolt Whip’s power exploded, equivalent to over a thousand practitioners using Spirit Motion Seventh Pattern, all attacking the enemy at once. Even the strong Condensed Essence practitioner felt a chill run down his spine, forced to take out a lower-tier magical treasure for defense as his immense elemental energy surged forth, his face changing several shades instantly.
With this power, Li Hui finally made it to the entrance, retreating swiftly with the Nine Heads. Yet the enemy didn’t give up, using a magical artifact mirror shield to take the whip strikes. The two of them almost stepped in unison into the tunnel, fiercely snapping at Li Hui from behind.
