Chapter 34: Goodwill and Forbidden Laws
True Spirit of Wind!
This was one of the treasures that Chi Zhenyi had previously mentioned, capable of fulfilling Zhang Yang’s need for wind.
Another was Baxiang Power, an extraordinary divine ability said to rival the True Spirit of Wind in strength.
Both rewards were immensely appealing to Zhang Yang.
He agreed without hesitation.
Li Kunhai, usually very cautious, fell silent at the thought of Zhang Yang single-handedly destroying a sect. He recalled the scene of Zhang Yang wielding the nearly four-story-high Thousand Wolves Pillar.
Even if it was a trap, in the Vast Forest, it would only spell misfortune for others.
Yuluan shared this sentiment. She arranged for two Snow Guards to accompany Zhang Yang, ensuring that no one strayed from the path.
Additionally, Yuluan handed him the thirteen forbidden laws obtained from the Nine Yin Sect, advising him to use them as bargaining chips with the Divine Forbidden Gate if the opportunity arose.
Only then did they set off.
The two Snow Guards were both formidable warriors, their strength at the Touching Heaven realm. One was named Ling Yue, the other Xu Li.
They rode white warhorses, silently following behind Zhang Yang.
The Grand Elder of the Divine Forbidden Gate rode a unicorn, a beast renowned for its considerable combat power.
The Divine Forbidden Gate was still some distance from Howling Wolf Palace.
On the way, Zhang Yang and Tang Zhuo engaged in conversation, mainly because Zhang Yang seized every opportunity to learn about martial arts and acquire necessary knowledge.
For instance, the Divine Forbidden Gate was not only powerful, but their training revolved around forbidden laws. In terms of sealing techniques, they were reputed to be the strongest in the Southern Region. Their battles also relied heavily on these seals, which could be deadly.
“Wolf King, I have a small question. Is it appropriate to ask?” Tang Zhuo said.
Zhang Yang smiled. “I will answer whatever I can.”
Tang Zhuo hesitated for a moment before asking, “Wolf King, do you really intend to confront the Demon Slayer Team with only this small group from Howling Wolf Palace?”
“I’m the kind of person who never turns back once I’ve made up my mind,” Zhang Yang replied frankly. Since the Demon Slayer Team had targeted his sister, whether they succeeded or not, there was no room for reconciliation. He added, “I won’t turn back, nor is there any way back. Besides, if we trade with the Divine Forbidden Gate, won’t the Demon Slayer Team seize the opportunity to cause trouble?”
The Demon Slayer Team’s attitude toward Green Sparrow Palace, their treatment of the twenty-nine Snow Guards, and their ruthless suspicion regarding the world-destroying demon all demonstrated their cruelty and lack of mercy.
Tang Zhuo replied calmly, “That won’t happen. My Divine Forbidden Gate usually doesn’t interfere in the disputes of the Southern Region. We maintain a relatively transcendent position. While we may not be as powerful as the Great Xia Empire or other superforces, few outside of them can match the strength of our headquarters.”
He spoke with absolute confidence in the Divine Forbidden Gate.
The branch in the Vast Forest was merely a small arm of a much greater force—one stronger than Green Sparrow Palace.
They were like brothers connected by the same roots.
Zhang Yang felt there was nothing more to say and simply cautioned, “The Demon Slayer Team is like a pack of rabid dogs; it’s best to stay vigilant.”
Tang Zhuo smiled silently, unconcerned.
After more than half an hour, they arrived at the entrance of the Divine Forbidden Gate.
A young man, around twenty-five or twenty-six years old, stood at the entrance, looking at Zhang Yang with a provocative gaze.
Tang Zhuo spoke in a deep voice, “Chen Mo, a distinguished guest is here. What is the meaning of blocking the way?”
Chen Mo bowed to Tang Zhuo and said, “Grand Elder, I wish to challenge this Wolf King.”
“Outrageous!” Tang Zhuo shouted in anger.
Zhang Yang observed coldly. With his keen intuition, he could tell that Tang Zhuo was genuinely furious, indicating that Chen Mo was acting on his own, without orders from the Divine Forbidden Gate.
“There’s no need for the Grand Elder to be concerned,” Zhang Yang said with a smile. “I’ve never seen forbidden laws in battle before, and I’d love to witness them firsthand.”
Tang Zhuo furrowed his brows, hesitated for a moment, then said, “Alright. Chen Mo is the strongest among the younger generation in the Divine Forbidden Gate’s Vast Forest branch. His forbidden laws are quite formidable.”
He offered a kind reminder, and Zhang Yang smiled in acceptance.
Stepping forward, Chen Mo sneered, “I don’t believe you destroyed the Nine Yin Sect on your own. The people from Howling Wolf Palace would say anything to support you.”
“If you want to fight, then let’s fight,” Zhang Yang replied, too lazy to continue the conversation.
Chen Mo, infuriated, formed peculiar hand seals and shouted, “Take this!”
A luminous shield suddenly appeared before Zhang Yang.
Sitting atop his Ironback Blue Bull, Zhang Yang did not hesitate. He pointed his finger, channeling Cang Wolf Power.
Crash!
The shield shattered before it could even fully form.
Chen Mo laughed coldly and quickly gestured again, casting several more techniques. He shouted, “Three Laws Forbidden Spirit Technique!”
Above Zhang Yang’s head, panicked cries echoed as a wondrous disc formed from light, inscribed with the characters for heaven, earth, and man. It descended, suffocating the air in a three-meter radius around him, making it hard to breathe and even affecting his vitality.
“How interesting,” Zhang Yang remarked, raising his hand.
Once again, he used Cang Wolf Power.
Crack!
The disc shattered.
This time, Chen Mo’s expression turned serious, and even Tang Zhuo raised his eyebrows slightly.
“Five Elements Control the Universe!”
Chen Mo took a deep breath, shouting as he swung his arms.
Instantly, the words gold, wood, water, fire, and earth appeared around Zhang Yang, transforming into real manifestations—mountains, forests, rivers, roaring flames, and towering hills—all pressing down on him.
Zhang Yang closed his eyes to sense the technique, then clicked his tongue in admiration. “This technique is marvelous.”
“Can you break it?” Chen Mo taunted.
Zhang Yang smiled and extended his right hand, sweeping it around him.
Once again, he used Cang Wolf Power.
All the wondrous manifestations surrounding him shattered.
“Impossible,” Chen Mo gasped in shock. This was his most powerful forbidden law.
Zhang Yang said nothing, but Ling Yue from the Snow Guards sneered. “Did you think the Wolf King was someone just anyone could challenge?”
Though he directed his reprimand at Chen Mo, Tang Zhuo felt his face flush, knowing that Ling Yue was also subtly reminding him.
Tang Zhuo shouted, “Chen Mo, have you not embarrassed yourself enough? Step back!”
Though unwilling, Chen Mo had no choice but to acknowledge defeat. Zhang Yang had broken his most formidable attack effortlessly. He lowered his head and left.
Tang Zhuo turned to Zhang Yang with an apologetic expression.
Zhang Yang waved his hand dismissively. “I was also curious to see the forbidden laws.”
Only then did they enter the Divine Forbidden Gate.
Inside, at the front of a grand hall, the Gate Master, Shang Zhu, was already waiting.
After the introductions, Shang Zhu explained the specific reason for seeking Zhang Yang’s help.
They had obtained an item from a relic deep within the Vast Forest, sealed by a powerful forbidden law. Despite their expertise in such laws, they had been unable to break the seal. Upon hearing that Zhang Yang could single-handedly destroy a sect, they wished for him to attempt breaking it.
The item was stored within a small palace.
As Zhang Yang walked in, he observed that the Divine Forbidden Gate was indeed filled with seals everywhere—the ground, the palace walls, and even the air were imbued with forbidden laws.
Inside the small palace, he found two elders waiting.
The item turned out to be a flower pot.
The surface of the pot radiated intense heat, and the air around it felt as if it could ignite at any moment due to the suppression of the forbidden law.
“I can certainly give it a try, but I must emphasize one thing,” Zhang Yang said. “The people from the Demon Slayer Team are like rabid dogs. It would be best to issue strict orders to the members of the Divine Forbidden Gate not to spread word of this outside—otherwise, they may seek revenge on you.”
In response to his goodwill warning, Gate Master Shang Zhu merely smiled and replied, “Thank you for the reminder, Wolf King. This master shall take note.”
Having warned them twice, Zhang Yang said no more and simply stated, “Let’s begin.”
Shang Zhu nodded to Tang Zhuo and the three other elders.
The four of them joined hands, forming intricate hand seals to cast forbidden laws. A shimmering curtain of light descended, enveloping the flower pot.
“We have suppressed this mysterious seal to the maximum extent,” Shang Zhu stated. “Wolf King, please proceed.”
Zhang Yang held nothing back. Activating all six divine powers aside from Soul Binding Power, he unleashed a powerful punch.
Bang!
A seal adorned with patterns of mountains and rivers suddenly appeared above the flower pot, yet under his strike, it did not budge.
