Chapter 31: One Man Destroys One Sect

Chasing after them, Zhang Yang found himself in a patch of darkness.

The towering ancient trees, with their dense foliage, originally shaded the sunlight, creating a dim atmosphere. Now, the place was even darker, so much so that he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face.

However, for Zhang Yang, this darkness meant nothing.

His vision was extraordinary and completely unaffected.

Without pausing, he continued his pursuit and caught sight of figures hidden in the shadows, dressed in black like assassins.

When someone suddenly attacked him, he didn’t bother using the Wolf King Spear. Instead, he slung it behind his back and delivered a sharp slap.

Slap!

With a single strike, the attacker lost their head.

In his fury, Zhang Yang showed no mercy. Anyone who dared to stop him from killing Jin Yuguan deserved to die.

Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap!

He advanced step by step, delivering slaps one after another.

With each strike, another ambusher fell.

After taking down thirteen people, those who had been hiding retreated, no longer daring to attack.

Zhang Yang moved forward unchallenged.

A sinister voice echoed from ahead.

"Anyone who dares to kill my Nine Yin Sect members is asking for death! I will turn you into a Yin Corpse."

Zhang Yang’s face remained cold, and he gave no reply.

Inside his storage bag, the Skyfire Pill Furnace trembled, and Chi Zhenyi’s voice emerged. “Use fire. Burn this patch of woods.”

“Won’t that cause a massive fire and destroy the Vast Forest?” Zhang Yang asked, somewhat concerned.

Chi Zhenyi rolled his eyes. “This place is within an area sealed by immortal arts. A big fire won’t spread—it can only burn within a limited area. And besides, it requires an extraordinary flame.”

Without hesitation, Zhang Yang took out the Skyfire Pill Furnace.

He had no fire of his own.

Chi Zhenyi activated the furnace, unleashing a roaring blaze that instantly set the darkened forest alight.

Flames soared into the sky, illuminating the surroundings.

Zhang Yang put away the Skyfire Pill Furnace and pressed on.

“Roar!”

A chilling howl erupted.

A figure, wrapped entirely in black cloth and exuding a cold aura, moved forward stiffly, its legs barely bending—like a ghost.

“This is a Yin Corpse. Blades and spears cannot harm it, but its heart is its fatal weakness,” Chi Zhenyi quickly warned. He had realized Zhang Yang possessed immense talent in martial arts but was still inexperienced in certain areas and needed guidance.

Zhang Yang gripped the Wolf King Spear and lunged.

Pfft!

A single thrust pierced through.

The claim that blades and spears could not harm Yin Corpses depended entirely on what kind of weapon they faced.

As a former holy weapon and now the leading spiritual weapon, the Wolf King Spear ignored such defenses—especially when wielded by Zhang Yang.

Moments later, more roars echoed as over fifty Yin Corpses charged toward him.

Chi Zhenyi shouted angrily, “This despicable Nine Yin Sect has turned so many people into Yin Corpses. This defies the will of heaven!”

“Then let’s destroy the Nine Yin Sect!”

Zhang Yang’s killing intent surged.

He didn’t rely on complicated techniques. His philosophy was simple:

Be fast enough.

Be powerful enough.

Soon, a series of bangs resounded.

One by one, the Yin Corpses collapsed, each pierced through the heart.

In less than half a minute, all were slain.

At last, he arrived before a courtyard.

In front of him stood a ten-meter-high stone tablet inscribed with—Nine Yin Sect!

Thirteen people stood at the entrance.

Behind them, Jin Yuguan was healing.

The central figure, a middle-aged man with triangular eyes and a sinister expression, smirked. “Do you know who I am?” he asked. “I am Yin Mei, Master of the Nine Yin Sect. Even Li Kunhai, Palace Master of the Howling Wolf Palace, must show me respect. How dare you kill so many of my Yin Corpses? You deserve to die a hundred times over!”

Zhang Yang pointed the Wolf King Spear at Yin Mei.

“Come here and face your death!” he shouted.

Yin Mei sneered. “You foolish wretch. Yin Corpse King, kill him!”

A towering figure, over two meters tall, stepped forward—the Yin Corpse King.

“Roar!”

It let out a deafening howl and charged at Zhang Yang.

Zhang Yang raised the Wolf King Spear and hurled it forward.

He was already accustomed to this fighting style.

Whoosh!

The Wolf King Spear, infused with six divine powers, tore through the air as it hurtled toward the Yin Corpse King’s heart.

The Yin Corpse King was surprisingly formidable. It managed to retaliate, grabbing the Wolf King Spear with both hands. But…

The power of the Wolf King Spear far exceeded the Returning to Origin realm.

Grabbing it did not mean controlling it.

The terrifying Wolf King Spear surged forward with unstoppable force.

Pfft!

The Wolf King Spear pierced the chest of the Yin Corpse King, shattering its heart. Remarkably, it did not stop there. Despite the Yin Corpse King’s resilience, the spear drove straight through, ignoring all resistance.

This demonstrated the overwhelming disparity in strength. The Yin Corpse King was utterly powerless against it. The Wolf King Spear continued forward, ruthlessly impaling an unprepared expert from the Nine Yin Sect, leaving a trail of blood before embedding itself in the wall.

Thud!

The massive body of the Yin Corpse King crashed heavily to the ground.

At that moment, Yin Mei’s face twisted in shock as he roared, “Everyone, attack together!”

Twelve people charged forward simultaneously.

“Kill!”

Zhang Yang bellowed and stepped forward.

Bang! Bang!

Moving faster than lightning, he weaved between two Nine Yin Sect experts, shattering their ribs with his fists.

Before their bodies could even hit the ground, he seized the Wolf King Spear from the wall, yanked it free, and immediately killed another enemy.

Zhang Yang frowned.

He suddenly realized that wielding the Wolf King Spear no longer felt as thrilling—especially after experiencing the exhilaration of the hundred-meter-tall Ancient Tree. The sensation simply didn’t compare.

Casually, he drove the Wolf King Spear into the ground, then grabbed the massive ten-meter-high stone tablet inscribed with “Nine Yin Sect” and kicked it, shattering its base. Lifting it, he swung the massive tablet toward the advancing Nine Yin Sect members.

“Kill!”

Now, he felt excited.

It was long, heavy, and powerful!

Whoosh!

As he swung the ten-meter tablet, a powerful gust followed. Six people were sent flying mid-air, breathless before they even landed.

“Awesome!”

Zhang Yang swung the massive tablet again.

Besides Yin Mei, only two more Nine Yin Sect experts remained—before they were crushed flat beneath the weight of the stone slab.

Now, only the sect master, Yin Mei, remained.

Zhang Yang tossed aside the ten-meter tablet.

Yin Mei leaped to the side, barely dodging it.

But Zhang Yang was already upon him.

Yin Mei roared in desperation and thrust his sword toward Zhang Yang’s throat.

Before the blade could reach him, Zhang Yang grasped its tip and advanced diagonally forward.

Pfft!

The sharp sword plunged into Yin Mei’s neck.

Thus, the Nine Yin Sect was annihilated—by Zhang Yang alone.

There hadn’t been many members to begin with, and their strength was underwhelming. The battle left Zhang Yang feeling little satisfaction.

He collected the storage bags of the fallen Nine Yin Sect members and turned toward Jin Yuguan.

Jin Yuguan, having witnessed the entire massacre, did not attempt to flee. He simply stood there, watching in despair.

Zhang Yang picked up the Wolf King Spear.

The wolf head spirit emerged, looking at Zhang Yang with a pitiful expression. It could sense that Zhang Yang no longer found joy in wielding it.

Without hesitation, Zhang Yang pressed it back down and strapped it across his back.

“Why don’t you run?”

"Where could I run to?"

Jin Yuguan did not resist. He merely closed his eyes, awaiting death.

Earlier, Zhang Yang would have killed him without hesitation. But now, having calmed down, he decided against it. He planned to hand him over to Yuluan and the Snow Guards instead.

With a single slap, he knocked Jin Yuguan unconscious and took his storage bag.

Then, he turned to inspect the various buildings of the Nine Yin Sect.

Pill Building!

Weapon Building!

Martial Arts Technique Building!

Spirit Stone Building!

Spirit Refinement Building!

This was going to be a massive windfall.
