Chapter 26: Title
Song Yutian and Gu Feng followed their phone’s navigation, walking toward the starting point of yesterday’s competition.
The destination wasn’t far from the teahouse—they arrived in less than ten minutes on foot.
Along the way, though Gu Feng desperately wanted to avoid giving Song Yutian a chance to show off, his curiosity ultimately won out. He couldn’t help but ask, "Can you tell me now? Why are we going back to where yesterday’s competition started?"
Instead of answering, Song Yutian countered with a question, "Back at the teahouse, did you notice the background song that kept playing?"
Gu Feng thought for a moment. "It was an English song, something with ‘sha-la-la’ repeating… It sounded familiar, but I can’t recall the name now—"
Song Yutian said, "Right. It’s an old English song called Yesterday Once More."
Gu Feng replied, "Oh, I think I’ve heard of it. So what? Isn’t it normal for teahouses or cafés to play background music like that?"
Song Yutian asked, "It is normal… but doesn’t it strike you as odd for that song to be playing specifically in that teahouse just now?"
Gu Feng was momentarily stunned and pondered for a moment. "Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit…"
Song Yutian said, "That teahouse we just visited specializes in a Republic of China-era aesthetic. Everything—from the furniture arrangements to the decor—is themed around that period. Even the owner herself wears a cheongsam and styles her hair in the voluminous curls popular back then. Yet, in such an immersion-focused establishment, the background music was a late-20th-century English song—"
Before Song Yutian could finish, Gu Feng exclaimed in realization, "So that song must be the clue! What did you say it was called again?"
"‘Yesterday Once More’," Song Yutian replied. "The Chinese title is also ‘Yesterday Once More’."
Gu Feng muttered, "Yesterday Once More… Does this mean the program crew wants us to repeat what we did yesterday? At this same time yesterday, we were already at this scenic spot, except—"
Song Yutian nodded, "Except we were at the rickshaw station, preparing to earn money by pulling one."
Song Yutian and Gu Feng walked to the location where the program crew had stationed them before yesterday’s competition began. Sure enough, their rickshaw remained parked there, still bearing traces of the handmade advertisement they’d pasted the day before—undoubtedly the same vehicle.
This time, however, a burly rickshaw driver clad in a white short-sleeved shirt and black trousers stood beside it.
Song Yutian and Gu Feng stepped forward. Gu Feng asked directly, "Hello, do you have any clues here?"
The rickshaw driver glanced at Gu Feng but said nothing.
Gu Feng repeated his question, but the driver continued to ignore him.
Gu Feng turned to Song Yutian. "Did we guess wrong? Maybe this driver doesn’t actually have the clues we need?"
Song Yutian replied, "His silence confirms we’re right. He must be planted by the program crew. A normal driver would at least respond to tourists, even if confused."
Gu Feng hesitated. "Then… maybe you should try asking?"
Song Yutian said, "Remember the director’s instructions? Role reversal—experiencing the world through tourists’ perspectives."
Gu Feng mused, "So we need to act like actual tourists, meaning…"
Song Yutian cut in and asked the driver, "Sir, how much for a ride for two?"
The coachman finally spoke, pointing at the payment QR code hanging on the carriage. "Eighty per person, one hundred sixty for two. Scan to pay."
"Alright, please wait a moment." Song Yutian took out her phone and opened the account created by their program crew, which still contained the money they’d earned from a full day of work hauling the carriage yesterday.
Song Yutian scanned the code to pay, then said to Gu Feng, "You go first."
Gu Feng, who hadn’t had a chance to voice his opinion the entire time, "…"
Fine. Since the money was already paid, Gu Feng walked to the right side of the carriage and sat down.
The seat was somewhat high, but Gu Feng, being over 180 cm tall, settled into it easily. After sitting down, he hesitated briefly before leaning slightly to the side. He reached out his hand toward Song Yutian, who was about to board, while deliberately averting his gaze elsewhere.
Even if she was a woman he disliked, he should maintain a gentlemanly demeanor. Though, it would be troublesome if she misinterpreted his intentions.
One second, two seconds—
Gu Feng couldn’t help but glance back.
Song Yutian had already taken her seat to his left. The woman had a slim figure and maintained an upright posture, yet somehow managed to sit down without touching his outstretched hand at all.
Song Yutian wasn’t looking at Gu Feng but rather gazing behind the right side of the rickshaw.
How did this woman manage to sit down without making a single sound?
Gu Feng thought to himself, maintaining his aloof expression as he casually withdrew his hand, pretending nothing had happened.
However, this entire scene had been fully captured by viewers watching the live stream from this perspective.
[Hahaha, Sister Song is taller. If it were Su Moying, she’d probably need a hand to steady herself!]
[Not bad, Gu Feng. Still showing gentlemanly manners.]
[Hahahaha, Gu Feng pretending nothing happened is killing me!]
[Song Yutian didn’t make eye contact with Gu Feng after getting on the carriage but looked aside instead. Could she be shy?]
Soon, the audience realized that Song Yutian had turned her head not out of shyness, but—
In the teahouse, after Song Yutian and Gu Feng left first, most of the contestants paid no attention and continued searching for clues inside.
Only Liu Tian sprang to her feet abruptly, her gaze fixed on the doorway, urging An Xin, "Xin Xin, hurry, let’s go too."
An Xin paused momentarily before being eagerly pulled up by the wrist by Liu Tian, who then hurried toward the exit with her.
Viewers following this team’s perspective had already been puzzled by Liu Tian’s earlier inaction and were now further bewildered by her sudden move.
It wasn’t until the live stream camera panned to reveal two familiar figures in the distance that the audience gradually understood.
Liu Tian and An Xin’s conversation confirmed everyone’s suspicions.
An Xin asked, "Is this really allowed? Won’t it break the rules?"
Liu Tian said confidently, "What rule did I break? First off, the program group never stated we can’t follow others. Second, even if there were such a rule, we’re simply happening to walk behind them. The park isn’t that big—are you saying only they’re allowed to use this path?"
An Xin: "…Then why are you skulking around like you’re doing something shameful?"
Liu Tian, crouching behind a street corner and peeking out, turned to glare at An Xin. "Skulking?! This is strategy! If they spot us, they might intentionally take a detour to throw us off!"
An Xin: "…Fine." Would they really go that far just to mess with us?
Liu Tian whipped her head back and hissed, "Quick, they’re turning the corner!"
[LMAO, so Liu Tian’s "brilliant plan" is just tailing Song Yutian and Gu Feng??]
[I’m dyingggg hahaha, turning a mystery game into a stalker simulator.]
[Low-key though, it might work? If Sister Song’s heading to the right place, following her could get us clues too.]
[Gotta admit, Liu Tian’s smart—if I were there, I’d piggyback on Sister Song’s trail as well.]
[Oh my god, this is hilarious! Liu Tian, you’re such a genius!]
Liu Tian and An Xin trailed them for about seven or eight minutes, until they finally saw the two people ahead come to a stop in front of a rickshaw.
Liu Tian quickly signaled An Xin and the crew to stop, then waved at the photographers. "Guys, stay further back. Don’t get us caught."
Crew: "…"
Everyone backed up a few steps, but with so many people, they remained quite obvious.
Liu Tian knew they couldn’t stay too far due to filming requirements, so they continued observing the pair ahead.
They saw Gu Feng and Song Yutian speak to the driver in turn, then board the vehicle one after the other.
Liu Tian and An Xin exchanged a glance.
When they looked back, the rickshaw had already started moving.
The professional rickshaw puller moved at a much faster speed than the contestants, nearly vanishing around the street corner in the blink of an eye.
"Hey!" Liu Tian shouted, urgently telling An Xin, "Quick, quick! Let’s chase after them!"
An Xin: "Huh?"
Without waiting for a response, Liu Tian grabbed An Xin’s wrist again, and the two dashed after the rickshaw carrying Song Yutian and Gu Feng, no longer caring about being noticed.
The camera crew behind them quickly boarded their dedicated filming vehicle and began the chase.
The filming team assigned to Song Yutian and Gu Feng also noticed the commotion. Originally filming the rickshaw from a parallel vehicle, one cameraman shifted his focus to capture Liu Tian and An Xin running after them.
Thus, the live feed from Liu Tian and An Xin’s perspective showed Song Yutian and Gu Feng sitting in the rickshaw ahead.
Meanwhile, the footage from Song Yutian and Gu Feng’s angle captured Liu Tian and An Xin sprinting behind their vehicle.
Viewers in both livestream rooms were in stitches at this spectacle.
[Hahaha, the ultimate crossover between two dream teams!]
[I wondered what Sister Song was looking back at—turns out it was Liu Tian, the "big genius," lol.]
[The puzzle game turned into a tracking game, then became a chase sequence—this show’s comedic timing is golden, hahaha.]
[I’d call this a legendary variety show moment LOL, the entertainment value is off the charts.]
[The sudden transition into an intense chase scene is killing me with laughter.]
Gu Feng heard the growing commotion behind them and followed Song Yutian’s gaze to look back.
Then he saw Liu Tian and An Xin chasing after them while shouting, "Slow down!" followed by another production team.
Gu Feng: ?
Gu Feng: "What’s going on here?"
