Chapter 2: Title
As Shanzhu TV’s flagship project, the highly anticipated variety show Unexpected Challenges finally unveiled its celebrity lineup two weeks before the premiere.
After announcing several trending artists, the program group dropped their trump card—Su Moying, a popular member of the girl group Heartthrob Seven from the viral survival show Heartbeat 99.
The latter had captivated young audiences nationwide. As the third-place debut member, Su Moying’s sweet image had amassed a massive fandom, making her one of the hottest idols currently.
The show’s popularity surged instantly, with reservations doubling within 24 hours.
Subsequent announcements revealed two mystery contestants. Rumors suggested the female entrant was actress Song Yutian, infamous for last year’s Least Emotionally Intelligent Celebrity scandals and #GetOutOfEntertainmentIndustry hashtags.
The post’s comment section flooded with criticism:
[No vases in competition shows, please!]
[A low-EQ clout-chaser vase? Perfect combo!]
[Petition to ban Song Yutian!]
[Don’t ruin the show!]
The production team remained silent amid the controversies.
At noon on Saturday, Unexpected Challenges premiered amidst roaring debates.
[Moying! You make hearts flutter!]
[Qin Yuanzhuo’s fans got your back!]
By 11:59 AM, the livestream launched nine minutes early. Though only airing promotional loops, fans had already flooded the bullet comments with support.
Noon struck.
"Ready, viewers?" The screen darkened before flashing bold text, drawing the audience’s attention.
The scene cut to a man in a khaki casual blazer—arched brows peering through gold-rimmed glasses.
[QIN YUANZHUO ALERT!]
[That scholarly rogue aesthetic! Dead!]
[Glasses look slays!]
His mirror smile ignited fangirl screams.
The full shot revealed him strutting the program group’s red carpet, followed by a montage of his iconic TV roles narrated with introductions.
After one minute, the camera switched to the next contestant’s poreless close-up. The man’s nod triggered another comment storm.
[Zhong Yueli supremacy!]
[His features are so exquisite! It’s breathtaking!]
[Help! Brother, how can you be this beautiful? You stole my heart!]
Similarly, after the shot froze, the livestream played a short introduction video of Zhong Yueli.
Next, the third and fourth male contestants appeared in order: Gong Yu, a boy band member who debuted through a talent show, and Liu Tian, a film school student who had risen to fame as a child star.
These two had slightly less popularity than the previous contestants, but their fans still flocked early to the livestream, keeping the bullet comments flowing nonstop.
Then, the camera suddenly shifted focus to a black stretch limousine positioned at the center of the frame.
A bodyguard in a black suit and white gloves opened the car door while the program group captured a classic close-up of the vehicle exit.
The camera then cut to a facial shot, revealing a handsome man who smiled faintly at the lens.
[Wow, is this the hidden male contestant? So striking! Has he debuted yet?]
[I swear I’ve seen him in some magazine before?]
[Ahhh, this guy’s unreal! That smile just melted me!]
[How is someone this gorgeous not in showbiz? Which agency’s rookie is he?]
The program group’s short video soon addressed the audience’s curiosity.
"Gu Feng, twenty-six, son of Gu Group’s founder Gu Wentian, and general manager of the marketing department at Evening Food Group. Ranked among the top one hundred global elites under thirty last year."
[Is this the actual definition of a CEO? Legendary!]
[Evening Food Group owns that viral restaurant everyone’s obsessed with!]
[Wealthy AND this attractive? Unfair!]
Though the initial viewers were predominantly fans of the artists, Gu Feng’s striking appearance still sparked waves of praise and speculation.
After all the male contestants had appeared, the focus shifted to the female participants.
First up was Wei Yao. Sporting a high ponytail and a pale lavender babydoll dress, she waved cheerfully at the camera with a radiant grin.
Wei Yao, four years into her career, had skyrocketed in popularity this year after starring in a breakout low-budget web series. Among the female contestants, her fanbase trailed only the meteoric rise of Su Moying.
[Sis just owned the stage!]
[Perfection from head to toe! Even her hair deserves awards!]
[Yao Yao my queen!!]
Following Wei Yao came two lesser-known female artists.
The first was Shen Xi, a low-profile singer best known for contributing to popular drama OSTs—her tracks trended more than her public persona. Next was An Xin, an actress frequently cast as the protagonist’s best friend or sister, leaving audiences vaguely familiar with her face but rarely recalling her name.
Then came the fourth female contestant.
The camera first lingered on billowing white wide-leg pants caught in a breeze.
The lens gradually tilted upward, pausing at a rearview shot of the upper body.
She wore a beige cropped knit jacket, her hair swept up to expose a graceful neckline. Beneath the jacket peeked a light-toned top, framing glimpses of porcelain shoulders and back—her skin so pale it nearly outshone the beige knitwear in contrast.
Yet the true showstopper was the sliver of exposed waist: snow-white, impossibly narrow, with an exquisite curve.
The camera lingered deliberately on this frame for several seconds.
[Who IS this goddess?!]
[That waistline is literal goals!]
[This figure is EVERYTHING!]
The shot then switched to a frontal close-up. The woman’s face finally came into view—flawless forehead, delicate lashes, eyes glistening with an innocent, dewy gaze.
It was Song Yutian.
