Chapter 50: Encounter with Ding Ran
Fang Yu and Liu Pangzi walked out of the school gate together.
“Fang Yu, thank you,” Liu Pangzi said sincerely, looking at Fang Yu.
He had very few friends at school, and the only one willing to stand up for him was Fang Yu.
“No need to thank me. You got beaten up because of me. How are your injuries? If you need…” Fang Yu said.
“It’s nothing. I’m tough; I hardly feel any pain. I’ll be fine in a few days,” Liu Pangzi chuckled.
“Alright, I’m heading home now,” Fang Yu said, turning to leave.
“Hey, Fang Yu, don’t go yet! Today is such a happy day; let me treat you to a meal, and then we can go have some fun!” Liu Pangzi called out to him.
“Food is fine, but playing is out of the question,” Fang Yu replied, as he wasn’t interested in playing.
“Come on! My cousin is the manager at an arcade, and he’s been asking me to bring classmates to have some fun there,” Liu Pangzi urged.
…
Near Jianghai Middle School, there was a snack street filled with various delicious foods.
Liu Pangzi and Fang Yu arrived at a large food stall and ordered four dishes to eat.
After finishing their meal, it was already 6:30 PM.
“Fang Yu, let’s go! I’ll take you to play some arcade games!” Liu Pangzi said excitedly.
Seeing Liu Pangzi so enthusiastic, Fang Yu didn’t want to dampen his spirits, so he agreed.
The two of them took a taxi to the commercial district in the center of Jianghai City.
The arcade was located in a bustling area, was quite large, and had a prime location. With a bar next door, the business was thriving.
They entered the arcade, where Liu Pangzi introduced Fang Yu to various electric games and took him to play. However, Fang Yu wasn’t very interested; he thought those were just childish games. For someone like him, who had lived for over five thousand years, they seemed incredibly immature.
So, after a brief experience, he went straight to the resting area at the entrance. Liu Pangzi didn’t push him and continued to enjoy himself inside.
After sitting for a while, Fang Yu could hear the music from the bar next door. He looked over.
The bar had flashy lights and booming music.
Most importantly, there were often beautifully dressed women coming in and out.
Of course, Fang Yu had no interest in any of that. Just as he was about to look away, he suddenly saw a familiar figure walk into the bar.
A woman was wearing a white fitted shirt and a black bodycon skirt, with long black stockings that accentuated her perfect figure.
Of course, her outfit was quite conservative compared to the other women entering and exiting the bar.
However, what Fang Yu cared about wasn’t her outfit, but her face.
It was Ding Ran!
Fang Yu had attended a few of her classes and found her personality to be gentle and quiet.
He didn’t expect her to frequent such places.
But he understood that people often had dual natures, so he just glanced at her and looked away.
…
After a while, Liu Pangzi came over to find Fang Yu, bringing him a drink. They sat at a table, quietly finishing their drinks before leaving the arcade together.
“Fang Yu, I have to tell you, when I saw you kick Han Zixian away earlier, I felt so good inside, like… hey? Isn’t that your counselor, Ding Ran?” Liu Pangzi exclaimed, spotting Ding Ran walking out of the bar alone.
Fang Yu had seen her too but didn’t react much.
“How could she come to a place like this?” Liu Pangzi said, his eyes wide as he looked at Ding Ran.
Liu Pangzi’s voice was a bit loud.
Ding Ran seemed to hear him and turned her head, immediately spotting Fang Yu.
It’s him?
A smile appeared on Ding Ran’s face as she raised her glass and walked over to Fang Yu, bringing with her a faint fragrance.
“You two are here to play arcade games? You should be studying instead of just playing all day,” Ding Ran said, clearly a bit tipsy but still relatively coherent.
A counselor comes to drink and still has the nerve to criticize others?
Fang Yu felt a bit speechless and didn’t respond.
Meanwhile, Liu Pangzi was extremely excited.
He had long heard of Ding Ran’s beauty at school.
Now, she was standing right in front of him, smiling and talking to him.
Just as Liu Pangzi was about to speak, Ding Ran focused on Fang Yu and asked, “Fang Yu, every time I see you, I get a strange feeling, as if… I’ve met you somewhere before. A few days ago, I finally remembered; you were hit by a truck… and then you blocked that truck like Superman…”
“I’ve never seen you before; you must be dreaming,” Fang Yu replied.
“Dreaming?” Ding Ran pondered for a moment, then smiled dreamily and said, “Right, who in the world can block a truck with their bare hands… I must have been really confused in my sleep.”
“Then… why would I dream about you? We shouldn’t know each other,” Ding Ran said.
Just as Fang Yu was about to speak, he saw a man walking out behind Ding Ran.
“Hey, beautiful, why are you walking so fast? You attracted quite a few people’s attention inside. Our Young Master Xuan wants to buy you a drink, so please come back with us,” the man said to Ding Ran, gesturing for her to return with him.
Ding Ran frowned slightly and shook her head, saying, “I’m not interested.”
The man’s previously cheerful expression darkened instantly.
“Do you know whose invitation you’re rejecting?”
“I don’t know, and I’m not interested in knowing,” Ding Ran replied coolly, then turned to leave with Fang Yu and Liu Pangzi.
The man’s face turned ugly as he glanced at Fang Yu and Liu Pangzi before turning to make a phone call.
Before Ding Ran could leave, a group of men rushed out of the bar.
Leading them was a man with earrings and a buzz cut.
“Hello, beautiful, I’m Li Zixuan. I’d like to buy you a drink,” the man said, holding out a glass of alcohol to Ding Ran.
