Chapter 493: Let Me Test It With My Fist!
The entire academic lecture hall immediately erupted in thunderous applause.
Dr. Gary’s lips curved slightly upward, his pupils faintly glowing red as he scanned everyone in the audience.
Soon, he noticed Fang Yu sitting in the second row.
“He came after all.”
Gary’s smile became radiant.
The applause continued for nearly ten seconds.
“Thank you all for your enthusiasm. Today, I will be discussing the fusion of biology and machinery,” Gary continued in English.
Fang Yu glanced at Gary, then looked around, but didn’t see the attendants Violet had mentioned.
However, Fang Yu remembered that Gary’s gene laboratory was a wanted entity in Europa.
So why could Gary still openly come to the Nine Provinces Country to give lectures? And even hold so many titles?
“It seems that Europa is only hunting the gene laboratory. Besides people from the dark world, probably not many know that Gary is the head of the gene laboratory,” Fang Yu thought.
Gary’s presentation was quite comprehensive, starting from the origin of life and then moving on to the industrial age.
The students in attendance listened attentively, while most entrepreneurs were confused and uninterested.
The reason they came today was to see the robot Dr. Gary brought and to connect with him to seek cooperation opportunities.
But nearly an hour had passed, and Gary was still lecturing on theoretical knowledge about biology and machinery, which sounded boring.
During this process, however, Fang Yu listened with great interest.
“The combination of life and machinery is, in my view, the future trend of technological development,” Gary said. “This trend is irreversible, and we should all follow it.”
As he spoke, Gary suddenly glanced at Fang Yu and smiled, “I know many people in your Nine Provinces Country practice martial arts to become stronger and extend their lifespan.”
“But practicing martial arts requires talent. Among everyone here, I think those who truly have martial arts talent are probably few, right?”
“Yes!” many people in the audience responded in unison.
“That’s very unfair, isn’t it?” Gary smiled. “Those with martial arts talent can obtain power far greater than ordinary people, and their lifespans become longer. Ordinary people can only live about a hundred years, but martial artists might live two or three hundred years.”
“The gap is quite large, isn’t it?”
“People are not born equal, right?”
“Right!”
Gary’s words were very persuasive, and most of the young students present strongly identified with what he said and responded enthusiastically.
“This is where the value of my research on biology and machinery comes in,” Gary continued calmly. “The mechanical parts I create can perfectly replace human limbs, and I can even make body trunks. With them, ordinary people without martial arts talent can become as powerful as martial artists.”
“As for lifespan, I’m currently researching brain storage devices. If successful, the lifespan issue will also be solved.”
“I know everyone is getting impatient, so next, I’ll satisfy your wishes by showcasing a robot I’ve created.”
After speaking, Gary’s pupils again flashed with a hint of red light.
“Tap, tap, tap…”
The sound of rigid footsteps echoed.
A robot with a silvery glow all over its body walked out from backstage.
It had the same build as a human, with a faint glow all over its body, and its material appeared very hard.
A sapphire-like object was embedded in its chest, emitting a blue light.
This was the robot’s power core.
Fang Yu narrowed his eyes slightly.
“This robot represents my latest technology. It has quite complete functions, similar to martial artists in your Nine Provinces Country—flying, tunneling through the earth, capable of anything,” Gary walked down from the podium to stand beside the robot. “The material forging its body is primarily chromium, combined with dozens of metals, making it extremely hard. Even if a destructive weapon struck it, it wouldn’t be damaged.”
“It can integrate many types of weapons, but for safety reasons, I’ve removed the weapons from this particular robot.”
“After saying so much, why not demonstrate the robot’s functions for us?”
At this point, an entrepreneur in the front row grew impatient and shouted.
“As you wish.” Gary smiled slightly and patted the robot’s head. “Show your functions to the gentleman who just spoke.”
“Understood.”
The robot emitted a mechanical voice.
“Whirr…”
White vapor suddenly erupted from under the robot’s feet, and its entire body rose up, floating in midair.
“Anything you can think of, you can command it to do,” Gary said.
“Then have it pour me a glass of water,” the entrepreneur said.
“Understood.” The robot in the air suddenly dove down, stopping above the entrepreneur’s head.
Then, it extended its mechanical right hand, on which appeared a steel cup, and from the palm of its left hand emerged a faucet-like opening, from which transparent liquid poured out.
The robot handed the cup to the entrepreneur and said, “Please enjoy.”
The entrepreneur hadn’t expected the robot’s functions to be so detailed, and he dumbly accepted the cup.
“Feel free to drink, it’s natural drinking water,” Gary laughed. “As I said, the robot integrates all functions. I don’t hire servants at home; I rely on robots to complete daily chores for me.”
The steel plate on the robot’s chest suddenly opened, revealing various tools inside, including a fruit knife, scissors, and even a spatula.
“I’ve implanted a medical chip in its brain, which, combined with its body structure, makes it the best doctor. It can immediately identify problems in your body and prescribe medication accordingly,” Gary continued from the podium.
The robot stared at the entrepreneur in front of it, its eyes emitting a blue light, seemingly scanning.
After a few seconds, it spoke: “You have chronic gastritis, which has persisted for two years. Your right shoulder was recently injured and will need two more weeks to fully recover.”
The entrepreneur’s face was filled with disbelief as he stared at the robot in shock.
Seeing his reaction, those around knew that the robot’s assessment was mostly accurate.
The lecture hall fell silent, everyone looking at the floating robot with astonished eyes.
If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they wouldn’t believe technology had reached this level.
“Let’s continue the demonstration. Let’s see if any other ladies or gentlemen are thirsty,” Gary said with a smile.
The robot flew upward, then toward Fang Yu in the second row.
It stopped in front of Fang Yu and extended its left hand, from which a nozzle appeared in its palm.
“I don’t have any extra cups here. If you’re willing to open your mouth, I can accurately feed water into it,” the robot said to Fang Yu.
Fang Yu glanced at Gary on the podium.
At this moment, Gary wore a mocking smile.
Obviously, he just wanted to annoy Fang Yu.
“I don’t need water…” Fang Yu said.
Before Fang Yu could finish speaking, a jet of water shot out from the nozzle in the robot’s left palm.
“Slap!”
Fang Yu’s right hand shot forward, dispersing the water.
With this move, Fang Yu avoided getting wet, but the entrepreneurs around him were splashed by the scattered water.
“I apologize. It seems the robot’s water-feeding function isn’t perfected yet. I’ll adjust it when I get back,” Gary laughed. “Well, although the robot has many more functions, to not take up more of your time, I won’t demonstrate them all. Come back now.”
The robot turned around, intending to fly back toward Gary.
But after turning, its body couldn’t move.
Everyone turned to look and saw that Fang Yu had grabbed the robot’s right leg.
“Why such a hurry to go back? Didn’t you just say its material is very hard? Why not demonstrate this feature?” Fang Yu stood up, smiling as he asked.
Gary frowned and said, “To demonstrate this point, we would need weapons. Otherwise, there’s no value in the demonstration.”
“No problem. I’ll test it with my fist. Just one punch,” Fang Yu said.
Testing super-strong metal made of chromium alloy with a fist?
Isn’t that ridiculous?
The people present looked at Fang Yu with strange expressions.
A normal person’s punch could at most break open a watermelon. How could it possibly test the hardness of a robot?
