Chapter 463 Strange Patterns

After handling the subsequent matters, the Snow King and the Snow Woman returned to the base camp together.

The Snow Woman had suffered internal injuries and was receiving treatment.

In an ancient-style building constructed of thick snow, Fang Yu sat cross-legged on the floor, with Su Lengyun sitting beside him, while the Snow King sat opposite them.

In front of Fang Yu burned a bright red flame, significantly raising the temperature of the entire hall.

“Don’t make it too hot, or my house will melt,” the Snow King said with a chuckle.

Having just resolved a major crisis, his mood had lightened considerably.

“If it melts, just build a new one. Isn’t your Blizzard Tribe’s talent all about quickly constructing buildings?” Fang Yu laughed.

“If the old patriarch heard you say that, he would definitely argue with you,” said the Snow King.

At the mention of the old patriarch, Fang Yu’s eyes flickered slightly.

The first time he dealt with the Blizzard Tribe, that old playful man had left a deep impression on him.

But this time when he returned to the Blizzard Tribe’s base camp, he could no longer see the old man’s figure.

Even though the Blizzard Tribe’s lifespan was more than three times longer than ordinary humans, they still couldn’t resist the passage of time and would eventually reach the end of life.

Fang Yu looked at the Snow King and asked, “When did the old man pass away?”

“The old patriarch has been gone for seventeen years.”

The Snow King took a deep breath, looking at the firelight in front of Fang Yu with bright eyes, his face showing reminiscence.

He and the old patriarch weren’t biological father and son, but their relationship was closer than that.

If not for the old patriarch’s care and support, he wouldn’t have grown to become today’s tribal leader.

It’s been seventeen years already…

Recalling the scene when the old patriarch called him to his bedside before passing away, the Snow King’s eyes grew slightly moist.

But the Snow King quickly realized there were guests present and regained his composure.

“Excuse me.”

The Snow King smiled awkwardly and wiped his eyes.

Fang Yu didn’t say anything.

Human joy and sorrow were things he had grown accustomed to.

For nearly five thousand years, this had been his way of life.

Time was a river with no visible end.

All living beings would disembark at some point, only Fang Yu remained in the river, flowing downstream.

Everyone and everything Fang Yu had known were like scenery passing by the riverside, existing only in memory.

“Fang Yu, what do you think about that voice from the depths of the Far North?” the Snow King asked, changing the subject to avoid falling into melancholy.

“I don’t think much of it. The only certainty is that there must be some entity in the depths,” Fang Yu replied.

“You mean… there’s another living being inside that can control other creatures in the depths…” the Snow King said with a shocked expression.

“Not necessarily a living being,” Fang Yu said.

“If not a living being, then what could it be? That voice was definitely consciously emitted… Earlier, Snow Woman tried using language and mental arts twice, almost persuading the ice-armored unicorn to retreat, but that voice appeared at precisely the right moment each time…” the Snow King frowned deeply and said in a grave tone.

“It could be some kind of will, or perhaps an array formation or barrier, all are possibilities,” Fang Yu said as he stood up. “As for what’s actually inside, that’s for you to investigate. I have other matters to attend to and will be leaving the Far North shortly.”

“You’re leaving now?” the Snow King asked, startled.

“Yes.” When Fang Yu thought about the resurrected remnants of the Purple Flame Palace, anger rose uncontrollably within him.

“How do you plan to leave? I can arrange a mount…” the Snow King said.

“No need, that would be too slow,” Fang Yu said as he took out a talisman paper from his storage pouch. “I have a faster method.”

Ten minutes later, Fang Yu held a completed teleportation talisman in his hand, standing at the entrance of the castle-like Blizzard Tribe base camp.

The Snow King and Snow Woman, along with a group of snow people, came to see Fang Yu and Su Lengyun off.

“Fang Yu, we truly thank you for your help this time. Whatever you need in the future, our Blizzard Tribe will assist you with all our might…”

The Snow King led all the present Blizzard Tribe members in bowing to Fang Yu.

“Just treat me to a meal next time we meet,” Fang Yu smiled.

“Certainly!” the Snow King said.

“Remember to let us know in advance next time! Otherwise, we might not have time to prepare for your visit!” the Snow Woman said, staring at Fang Yu’s face.

“Alright, I’m off then,” Fang Yu turned and looked at Su Lengyun.

Su Lengyun nodded and held onto Fang Yu’s right arm.

Fang Yu gripped the teleportation talisman with his left hand and infused it with true qi.

The talisman floated up, emitting a glow.

Fang Yu closed his eyes to focus on the destination.

In the next second, both Fang Yu and Su Lengyun’s bodies began to shine.

“Whoosh!”

The two disappeared from the spot.

The Snow Woman stared blankly at the place where Fang Yu had vanished.

…

It was now October, the height of autumn, yet the daytime sun remained intensely hot.

Today was Tuesday, not a rest day, and with the extreme heat, there weren’t many visitors at the ecological park in the southern center of Xiangcheng.

The small plaza on the outskirts was completely empty.

At that moment, a flash of light appeared in the center of the plaza.

Two figures materialized.

It was Fang Yu and Su Lengyun returning.

Transitioning suddenly from extreme cold to a normal environment wasn’t an issue for Fang Yu, but Su Lengyun found it quite uncomfortable.

“So hot…” Su Lengyun said, tilting her head slightly.

“Where are we…” Fang Yu looked around and quickly recognized the location.

It was the ecological park where he had built his vegetable garden!

“This teleportation was quite successful. Not only did we not appear in mid-air, but we also precisely located near the apartment. Perfect,” Fang Yu said.

“Shall we… go back to the apartment first?” Su Lengyun asked softly.

“No, let’s first visit the vegetable garden… Damn it!”

As he spoke, Fang Yu suddenly realized he had been in the Far North for over half a month, during which time no one had tended to his garden!

Previously, Jiangnan and Ji Rumei had sent people to help him maintain the garden, but now there was no one!

Over half a month… in this scorching weather.

“Let’s go.”

Fang Yu quickly walked toward the interior of the ecological park.

Seeing Fang Yu’s expression change dramatically, Su Lengyun thought something was wrong and hurried after him.

Fang Yu arrived at the vegetable garden with an ashen face, took a deep breath before daring to step forward to check the situation.

Imagining the withered, dead vegetables that might await him made him feel terrible.

But when he saw the scene in the garden, he was stunned.

The vegetables were growing exceptionally well, lush and green, full of vitality.

This was true vitality!

Even before getting close, Fang Yu could sense the strong life force!

What was going on?

Fang Yu was surprised and walked into the garden, crouching down to examine closely.

The vegetable leaves were full of sap, showing no signs of withering, and the stems extended deep into the soil.

Even the soil maintained a moist state.

Fang Yu frowned, filled with confusion.

Had someone been tending his garden?

But even so, it wouldn’t cause such peculiar changes in all the plants in the garden.

Fang Yu suddenly noticed that the detailed veins on the leaf of the vegetable in his hand emitted a faint glow, appearing crystal clear.

Fang Yu looked at another vegetable nearby, which was the same.

He walked forward to check other types of plants, all were the same!

In the field of vegetable growing, Fang Yu was quite accomplished.

He knew clearly that these plants were definitely not in a normal state.

“Could it be…”

Fang Yu turned to look at the center of the garden, where he had planted the Star Fruit.

The Star Fruit seed was buried in the soil at the center of the garden.

“No way…”

Fang Yu suddenly thought of a possibility.

He casually picked a vegetable leaf, held it up against the sunlight, and examined it.

Now, Fang Yu could clearly see the crystalline substance flowing slowly through the veins of the leaf.

“What is this?”

Fang Yu simply put the leaf in his mouth and took a few bites.

A sweet flavor permeated his senses.

This taste was much better than ordinary vegetable leaves! He could even taste a hint of Star Fruit flavor!

“This…” Fang Yu found it difficult to understand the situation.

“Brother Yu… what’s wrong?” Su Lengyun, who had never seen Fang Yu’s expression change so dramatically, asked with concern.

“Can you sense the life force from those plants in the garden?” Fang Yu asked.

Su Lengyun was startled, then her beautiful eyes moved slightly as she said, “Indeed…”
