Chapter 29: He is a Thief!

“Alright, I’ll head over,” Fang Yu said.

“I’ll send a car to pick you up, Mr. Fang…” Ji Dongshan replied.

“No need, it’s only eight fifty. I’ll take my time walking over, consider it a stroll,” Fang Yu said.

After hanging up, Fang Yu walked in the direction of the Ji family.

An information dealer?

In fact, Fang Yu was the person with the most information in the world.

Having lived for nearly five thousand years, he had almost traversed the entire world, witnessing its changes firsthand.

However, in the last thousand years, Fang Yu had rarely traveled globally, mostly staying within the borders of Huaxia.

Moreover, while in Huaxia, he didn’t wander much. He would stay in one place for a long time, then move to another place for an extended period.

In this world, as time passed, many things were changing.

The information Fang Yu once knew was already outdated. Now, he truly needed external help to quickly obtain some information.

If this so-called Master Fu could provide one or two locations where high-level demon beasts lived, Fang Yu would be truly grateful.

Fang Yu slowly made his way to the Ji family and arrived at their doorstep around nine fifty.

At this time, many luxury cars were already parked outside the Ji family.

Fang Yu wanted to enter but was stopped by two security guards at the door.

The guards looked at Fang Yu, who was dressed in a school uniform, and frowned, saying, “Please show your invitation.”

“The head of your family directly invited me,” Fang Yu replied.

“The head of the family directly invited you?” The guard scanned Fang Yu from head to toe, looking incredulous.

Someone who could be directly invited by Ji Dongshan must be a distinguished guest; how could a middle school student like Fang Yu receive such treatment?

“Wait here, I’ll go ask!” one guard said.

“What’s there to ask? He clearly looks like a kid trying to sneak into high society to broaden his horizons; just kick him out,” the other guard said.

“Let’s ask anyway; you keep an eye on him, I’ll be back soon,” the first guard said before turning to leave.

The guard left at the door looked impatiently at Fang Yu.

At that moment, another BMW pulled up, and three people got out: a middle-aged man and two young women in formal dresses.

The two young women were Jiang Yue and Xu Xiaona.

The three approached, and the middle-aged man glanced at Fang Yu standing nearby, then took out an invitation from his inner pocket.

“Respected Mr. Jiang, please come in.” The guard immediately adopted a respectful demeanor and bowed to the middle-aged man.

At this moment, Jiang Yue and Xu Xiaona also noticed Fang Yu standing nearby.

Jiang Yue nudged Xu Xiaona’s shoulder, her eyes filled with mockery.

Clearly, Fang Yu was standing there because he couldn’t get in.

“Hey, isn’t that Fang Yu? I didn’t expect to see you here. Are you here for the Ji family’s banquet too?” Xu Xiaona said, feigning surprise.

Fang Yu glanced at the two girls but said nothing.

“They didn’t say they were coming to the banquet; otherwise, they would have gone in long ago,” Jiang Yue said.

“Ah, Fang Yu, do you not have an invitation? That’s definitely not allowed; this is a banquet hosted by the Ji family, and invitations are strictly issued. Otherwise, a lot of unsavory characters would sneak in…” Xu Xiaona mocked.

“If you don’t have an invitation, you should leave quickly; otherwise, the security will kick you out!” Jiang Yue taunted.

“Go on in; the banquet is about to start,” Jiang Yue’s father, Jiang Zhenlong, said.

“You just stand there and drink the northwest wind; I want to see how you get in!”

Jiang Yue and Xu Xiaona exchanged another mocking glance at Fang Yu before following Jiang Zhenlong into the Ji family.

“Fang Yu standing there looks like a fool,” Xu Xiaona sneered.

“Haha, wanting to attend the banquet without an invitation? Does he really think there’s no threshold for high society?” Jiang Yue said.

“Was that person just now your classmate?” Jiang Zhenlong turned his head and asked.

“Not really a classmate, just a loser,” Jiang Yue replied.

Jiang Zhenlong nodded and said, “You really shouldn’t get too close to such classmates. Society is divided into classes; the lower and upper classes are two different worlds. There’s no need to associate with lower-class people because they won’t help you; they’ll only seek your help.”

Jiang Yue and Xu Xiaona nodded in agreement.

“When you go into the banquet later, make sure to chat with those from wealthy families to try to enter their social circle; this will greatly benefit you. Your father did the same back in the day to gradually enter high society,” Jiang Zhenlong added.

…

Fang Yu waited for about five minutes before he saw Ji Dongshan hurriedly come out.

“Outrageous! Mr. Fang is a distinguished guest of our Ji family, and you let him wait here for so long! Truly outrageous!” Ji Dongshan angrily scolded the two security guards.

The guards, who had previously looked impatient, quickly bowed to Fang Yu, sweat beading on their foreheads.

“Mr. Fang, I sincerely apologize; I was careless and forgot to inform the security…” Ji Dongshan also looked apologetic as he apologized to Fang Yu.

“It’s fine, let’s go in,” Fang Yu said.

Ji Dongshan accompanied Fang Yu inside, and as they passed the two guards who were bent over and afraid to stand straight, he said in a deep voice, “You two will be suspended for a month after tonight and have three months’ worth of bonuses deducted!”

The two guards trembled, their faces pale.

They never expected that the boy in a school uniform, Fang Yu, had such a distinguished identity.

“Head of the Ji family, there’s no need to punish them; it’s not their fault,” Fang Yu waved his hand and said.

People are inherently self-serving; the reactions of these two guards towards Fang Yu were normal, and their attitudes weren’t too terrible; they hadn’t done anything wrong.

If anything was wrong, it was Ji Dongshan’s oversight that caused this, so there was no need to punish the two guards.

Ji Dongshan snorted coldly and said, “Aren’t you going to thank Mr. Fang?”

“Thank you, Mr. Fang, thank you, Mr. Fang…” The two guards expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Fang Yu, bowing repeatedly.

…

“Mr. Fang, Master Fu has arrived, but he is currently drinking and playing cards with others. I’ll take you to meet him later,” Ji Dongshan said.

“Alright, you go ahead and do your thing; I’ll wander around a bit,” Fang Yu replied.

Then, Fang Yu walked over to the wine tasting area.

There were several bartenders on standby, ready to serve cocktails to the guests.

Fang Yu casually picked up a glass of fruit wine and walked around the venue while drinking.

Many guests looked at Fang Yu, dressed in a school uniform, with puzzled expressions.

Whose child is this? Why is he out without changing into formal attire?

Fang Yu ignored the gazes of others and wandered around the Ji family’s hall.

It seemed that Ji Dongshan had a penchant for collecting antiques, as every corner of the living room was filled with valuable items.

In fact, Fang Yu also had quite a few antiques at home, but they were all stored in his house in the capital.

Jiang Yue and Xu Xiaona followed Jiang Zhenlong, greeting one guest after another.

These guests seemed not to recognize Jiang Zhenlong, but out of politeness, they still responded to him.

After a few rounds, Jiang Yue grew a bit impatient and said, “Dad, others don’t even know us; why do we have to greet everyone?”

“This is how your father managed to mingle into high society! You must become familiar faces so that other bosses recognize you!” Jiang Zhenlong replied.

“But this is… so boring,” Jiang Yue said.

She and Xu Xiaona came to the banquet just to meet some wealthy young masters to pave the way for marrying into a rich family in the future.

Just as Jiang Zhenlong was about to educate Jiang Yue, he suddenly spotted a young man not far away, and his eyes lit up.

“That is Zheng Peng, the young master of the Zheng family. You two come with me to greet him.”

Zheng Peng was relatively handsome and looked quite young.

“The Zheng family is the clothing king of the Jiangnan region! Their family assets exceed a billion! If you can connect with Zheng Peng, you won’t have to worry for the rest of your life!” Jiang Zhenlong whispered.

The three approached Zheng Peng and greeted him.

Another useless person trying to get familiar.

Zheng Peng looked at Jiang Zhenlong with disdain in his eyes.

But when he noticed Jiang Yue beside Jiang Zhenlong, his eyes brightened.

This girl looks good; it could be fun to play around with her.

“What’s your name?” Zheng Peng asked.

“Are you asking me?” Jiang Yue was taken aback.

“Yes,” Zheng Peng smiled.

“I, I’m Jiang Yue,” Jiang Yue said, suppressing her excitement.

“You’re very pretty,” Zheng Peng complimented.

“Really, really?” Jiang Yue touched her face, feeling her cheeks flush.

“Yes, if you’re willing, after the banquet tonight, I can take you for a drive,” Zheng Peng said.

“…Of course, I would love to!” Jiang Yue immediately agreed, her face turning red with excitement.

The two chatted enthusiastically, and Jiang Zhenlong smiled, very pleased with Jiang Yue’s performance.

Xu Xiaona, feeling neglected, looked a bit disappointed. She casually glanced to the side and saw Fang Yu, who was admiring the antiques.

How did he get in without an invitation?

Could it be… he sneaked in by avoiding the guards?

Is he looking at those antiques with the intention of stealing them?

Just as Xu Xiaona was pondering, a sudden commotion erupted around them.

“Miss Ji is coming down!”

Zheng Peng, who had been chatting animatedly with Jiang Yue, immediately turned his head upon hearing the commotion and saw Ji Rumei coming down the stairs.

Ji Rumei was dressed in a purple gown, her long black hair elegantly styled, with a touch of makeup enhancing her perfect features. Her skin was fairer than snow, glowing brilliantly against the purple dress.

She walked down the stairs in high heels, capturing the attention of all the guests in the hall.

From the moment she appeared, the other women present were overshadowed.

Zheng Peng looked at Ji Rumei with burning eyes.

“Mr. Zheng, about what we were discussing earlier…” Seeing Zheng Peng’s gaze, Jiang Yue felt a bit uncomfortable and wanted to continue chatting with him.

“Don’t speak for now,” Zheng Peng turned his face, and his gaze towards Jiang Yue had grown cold.

Compared to Ji Rumei, Jiang Yue was still too ordinary.

Realizing Zheng Peng’s change in attitude, Jiang Yue felt her heart shatter.

At that moment, Xu Xiaona came back to her senses and whispered a few words in Jiang Yue’s ear.

Jiang Yue was taken aback, then looked in the direction Xu Xiaona pointed, and indeed saw Fang Yu.

Daring to sneak into the Ji family’s banquet?

Let’s see how you get out of this!

At that moment, Jiang Yue was filled with anger, and Fang Yu’s appearance was just the opportunity she needed to vent!

Jiang Yue quickly said a few words to Jiang Zhenlong, who also spotted Fang Yu not far away and squinted, saying, “Just in time for Miss Ji to arrive; let’s hurry and tell her!”

This was a perfect opportunity to perform well in front of the Ji family!

So, Jiang Zhenlong led Jiang Yue and Xu Xiaona toward Ji Rumei.

“Miss Ji, we have something urgent to tell you.”

Ji Rumei frowned slightly and asked, “What is it?”

“There’s a thief who sneaked in to steal something over there!” Jiang Yue pointed at Fang Yu, who was examining an antique vase, and shouted.
