Chapter 22: You Have Grown Up

Ding Ran pointed at Fang Yu, opened her mouth, but couldn’t call out his name.

Fang Yu felt familiar to her, but she just couldn’t recall his name.

“…Classmate, have we met somewhere before?” Ding Ran asked.

“Probably not,” Fang Yu replied.

“Oh…” Ding Ran tapped her head, her brows furrowed, still pondering that strange sense of familiarity in her mind.

Seeing Ding Ran like this, Fang Yu knew that the hypnosis he used that day had taken effect.

“Teacher, you should stand up first,” Fang Yu reminded her.

At that moment, Ding Ran was still sitting on the ground with her legs spread, which was quite unseemly.

Ding Ran came to her senses, noticed her posture, her face flushed, and she hurriedly stood up.

“Classmate, I really feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before, and something happened back then…” After standing up, Ding Ran continued to think hard.

She clearly knew something had happened, yet she couldn’t remember it at all, which felt very uncomfortable.

“Teacher, I have class soon, so I’ll be leaving,” Fang Yu said.

“Hmm… okay, I might have mistaken you for someone else,” Ding Ran ultimately gave up; she really couldn’t recall.

Fang Yu glanced at Ding Ran and walked toward the classroom.

As for what happened that day, unless Ding Ran spent the whole day trying to remember, it was impossible for her to recall.

Of course, even if Ding Ran did remember, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Back in the classroom, Fang Yu heard that He Donglin and Hu Tao had been discharged from the hospital and had come to school to handle transfer procedures.

The students in the class looked at Fang Yu with eyes full of awe.

You have to know that before this, He Donglin was a tyrant in Class 2 of the third year; no one dared to provoke him.

But Fang Yu not only severely injured He Donglin but also forced him to leave Jianghai High School!

Fang Yu was the real tyrant.

However, for Fang Yu, hearing this news was not surprising.

After all, he had already dealt with He Wencheng; how could He Donglin still have the guts to stay in school?

At noon after school, Tang Xiaorou went to the cafeteria with Zhao Shuang’er.

“Shuang’er, I saw you getting into Yang Xu’s car yesterday afternoon…” Tang Xiaorou hesitated for a long time before finally speaking up.

Zhao Shuang’er stopped in her tracks, looking at Tang Xiaorou with a smile, and said, “Xiaorou, are you jealous?”

“Jealous? How could I be jealous? I just don’t want you to get too close to Yang Xu… Yang Xu really isn’t a good person,” Tang Xiaorou frowned and said.

“As long as you’re not jealous, that’s fine. You don’t like Yang Xu, but I really like him, and I’ve liked him for over two years,” Zhao Shuang’er said.

Tang Xiaorou was stunned; Zhao Shuang’er had never mentioned this to her before.

“He was pursuing you all this time, so I didn’t tell you I liked him. But now, Yang Xu finally responded to me!”

“Xiaorou, Yang Xu is really a good person. You and he might just not be compatible in personality, but he’s really nice. I’ve been very happy with him these past few days,” Zhao Shuang’er’s eyes were filled with admiration and joy.

Seeing Zhao Shuang’er’s happy expression, Tang Xiaorou wanted to say something but ultimately held her tongue.

Zhao Shuang’er was her best friend at school; since Zhao Shuang’er felt happy, she had no reason to interfere.

“Xiaorou, you will bless me and Yang Xu, right?” Zhao Shuang’er grabbed Tang Xiaorou’s hands and asked.

“Hmm, I wish you both a happy ending,” Tang Xiaorou smiled.

……

During the afternoon break, Fang Yu was reading a novel when Tang Xiaorou suddenly leaned over and said, “Hey, did you know? Yang Xu is actually with Shuang’er now.”

Fang Yu didn’t even lift his eyelids and asked, “Who is Shuang’er?”

“Zhao Shuang’er, she’s my best friend in the key class,” Tang Xiaorou replied.

Fang Yu responded with an “oh.”

“I used to think Yang Xu wasn’t a good person, but Shuang’er seems very happy, so it seems Yang Xu treats her well,” Tang Xiaorou said.

“So are you happy or not?” Fang Yu looked up at Tang Xiaorou and asked.

“Of course I’m happy! I never liked Yang Xu pursuing me, and now he’s with my best friend, so I don’t have that worry anymore.”

“It just feels like their relationship is developing a bit fast; it’s only been a few days, and they’re already together…” Tang Xiaorou murmured.

“If you’re saying all this to ask me what I think, I’ll tell you, there’s a problem,” Fang Yu said.

“What problem?” Tang Xiaorou was taken aback and asked.

“Yang Xu,” Fang Yu replied.

After saying that, Fang Yu turned his head and continued reading his novel, signaling Tang Xiaorou not to bother him anymore.

Yang Xu has a problem?

Although Tang Xiaorou also felt Yang Xu wasn’t a good person, she believed Zhao Shuang’er wasn’t a fool; if Yang Xu were really that bad, Zhao Shuang’er wouldn’t look so happy.

“Forget it, no need to think too much; as long as Shuang’er is happy, that’s enough,” Tang Xiaorou thought to herself.

The next day was Saturday, and there was no school.

During the holidays, Fang Yu’s daily routine was not much different from that of an average elderly person.

He would wake up at seven in the morning, practice a set of martial arts in the yard, then run a lap around the back mountain, buy breakfast afterward, and then head home.

……

Fang Yu was eating a large meat bun as he slowly walked back to the yard.

Before he got close, he saw a Hummer SUV parked at the entrance of the yard.

As Fang Yu approached, he saw a woman wearing sunglasses standing at the entrance, peering inside.

The woman had long hair cascading down her shoulders, dressed in a black fitted outfit, tall and slender, perfectly outlining her curves, especially her upper body, where the buttons of her top were tightly fastened.

“Who are you looking for?” Fang Yu asked, taking a bite of the meat bun.

“Excuse me, is Fang Yu living here?” The woman spoke with poise, removing her sunglasses to reveal her stunningly beautiful face.

“I am,” Fang Yu replied, lacking in manners, still chewing on the meat bun, making his words unclear.

“You are Fang Yu?” The woman was a bit surprised, her beautiful eyes widening.

But she quickly regained her composure and said, “Hello, Mr. Fang, I am Qin Yimo, the granddaughter of Qin Wudao. My grandfather asked me to bring you eighteen boxes of Complete Nourishing Pills.”

“Complete Nourishing Pills?” Fang Yu was slightly taken aback, then realized this was Qin Wudao’s quirky sense of humor.

Qin Yimo instructed the driver to bring out the eighteen boxes of monster inner cores from the trunk.

“Please take them upstairs,” Fang Yu said.

As the driver carried the monster inner cores upstairs, Qin Yimo quietly observed Fang Yu.

Is this really the great benefactor of the Qin family that Grandpa mentioned?

He looks way too young, like a middle school student.

Grandpa also told her to consult Fang Yu whenever she encountered difficulties?

From what she could see, Fang Yu didn’t seem like someone who could provide her with help.

“I didn’t expect you to have grown so much in the blink of an eye,” Fang Yu said, looking at Qin Yimo with a hint of nostalgia.

The last time they met, Qin Yimo was just a one-year-old baby.

However, Fang Yu’s words sounded different to Qin Yimo.

Especially at that moment, Fang Yu was staring at Qin Yimo, making her subconsciously think he was staring at her impressive figure.

Qin Yimo’s face turned slightly red, and she angrily said, “Please, Mr. Fang, have some decorum!”

She wondered if she had found the wrong person; was this really the person her grandfather asked her to find?

This was clearly a lewd middle school student!

Fang Yu chuckled and said, “I’m an old friend of your grandfather.”

Old friend?

Qin Wudao was eighty-seven years old; to him, Fang Yu was at most a little friend!

“Talking nonsense, having ulterior motives, and lacking manners… how could someone like this be so highly regarded by Grandpa?” Qin Yimo thought to herself.

But coming from a wealthy and noble family, she still maintained her composure and grace.

“Mr. Fang, when did you meet my grandfather?” Qin Yimo asked.

“About eighty years ago? No, to be precise, it should be seventy-eight years ago…” Fang Yu squinted his eyes and said.

“Ha ha…” Qin Yimo’s face stiffened, and she could only force a couple of dry laughs.

In her mind, Fang Yu’s evaluation had already plummeted to rock bottom.

His words were absurd, his rhetoric exaggerated, and he pretended to be mature.

What’s the difference between him and other middle school students who like to daydream and boast? The only difference might be that Fang Yu was a bit thicker-skinned.

Does he even know who Qin Wudao is? How dare he make such jokes?

If it weren’t for Qin Wudao emphasizing repeatedly before she left that Fang Yu was a great benefactor of the Qin family and must not be offended, Qin Yimo would have scolded him long ago.

At this moment, the driver had already brought all eighteen boxes of monster inner cores upstairs and returned downstairs.

Qin Yimo glanced at Fang Yu and said, “Mr. Fang, I have delivered the Complete Nourishing Pills that Grandpa instructed me to bring you. If there’s nothing else, I’ll…”

“Why are you in such a hurry to leave? Your grandfather asked me to take care of you; I should get to know you better,” Fang Yu said.

Qin Yimo bit her red lip, suppressing her displeasure, and said, “Mr. Fang… I have urgent matters to attend to; how about we meet next time…”

“Alright… but since this is our first meeting since you’ve grown up, I should give you something. Please wait here for a moment,” Fang Yu said, turning to go upstairs.

After waiting for two or three minutes, Fang Yu still hadn’t come down.

Qin Yimo was already quite impatient, but she had to obey her grandfather’s orders and couldn’t lose her temper.

Another minute passed, and Fang Yu finally came downstairs, holding a bag of vegetables he had picked the day before.

“These are vegetables I grew myself, all-natural, no pesticides. Take them home and eat,” Fang Yu handed the vegetables to Qin Yimo.

Qin Yimo took the vegetables, forcing a smile as she said, “Thank you.”

“And here’s this sachet; take it with you. It has a calming effect,” Fang Yu pulled out a sachet made of burlap from his pocket and handed it to Qin Yimo.

Qin Yimo thanked him again and then left.

Sitting in the car, Qin Yimo took several deep breaths, her chest rising and falling for a while before she calmed down.

“What kind of sachet is this?”

Qin Yimo picked up the sachet Fang Yu had given her and brought it close to her nose to smell; there was no floral scent, but rather a medicinal aroma.

However, strangely enough, as she inhaled, she really felt quite comfortable; her previously restless mood vanished, and she calmed down.

Qin Yimo glanced at the bag of vegetables on the seat beside her, feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation.

What kind of person is Fang Yu?

Before she set off, she had asked Qin Wudao, but he hadn’t answered directly, only saying, “You’ll find out for yourself.”

How was she supposed to find out? She felt she couldn’t communicate with Fang Yu at all.

“Forget it, the important matters come first.” Qin Yimo shook her head, no longer thinking about these things, and picked up a stack of documents to read.
