Volume 4 Chapter 75: Breaking Into the World
While Zhang Yi was frantically searching all over the world for Xu Qingfan’s traces, Xu Qingfan remained in that hidden cave, calmly healing his wounds.
Meanwhile, there was another conversation happening elsewhere.
"How is it?" Liu Ziqing asked Huanlingzi, who was checking his pulse.
Huanlingzi frowned and said, "The method used to seal the Spirit Qi in your body is very peculiar, and the Spirit Qi itself is unusual. There are two forces—one pure and full of life, the other filled with deathly stillness. They are completely opposite yet do not interfere with each other, constantly disrupting the flow of Spirit Qi within you, which is why you can’t control it."
Liu Ziqing frowned upon hearing Huanlingzi’s words and asked, "Can this seal be broken?"
Huanlingzi shook his head and sighed, "This method is the only one I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t know how to break it, and if it’s forcibly broken, your body would suffer immense harm. It’s not worth the risk."
Liu Ziqing gave a slight nod without saying much, his expression unchanged, but a hint of thoughtfulness appeared in his eyes.
Seeing Liu Ziqing so calm, Huanlingzi anxiously asked, "Brother Liu, who exactly sealed your powers? Why won’t you tell me? Just tell me, and I can find that person and force them to release the seal in your body."
Liu Ziqing sighed softly and finally said after a long pause, "It was Xu Fan."
"What?" Not only Huanlingzi, but the other cultivators who followed Liu Ziqing in leaving the "Qingxu Gate" were also stunned, as they had a favorable impression of Xu Qingfan from his teachings at Qingxu Gate.
Liu Ziqing smiled bitterly and said, "I was wrong about him. Xu Fan came to Qingxu with hidden motives, perhaps as a disciple of one of Immortal Zizhen’s close friends. It seems he helped Immortal Zizhen escape this time. I ran into him unexpectedly and was caught off guard by his ambush."
Hearing Liu Ziqing’s words, Huanlingzi and the others showed signs of anger.
Huanlingzi said angrily, "I will find him now, make him lift the seal on you, and ask him why he’s meddling in Qingxu’s affairs."
Liu Ziqing hesitated slightly but eventually nodded.
After the cultivators who followed him in leaving Qingxu went to find Xu Qingfan, the thoughtful look in Liu Ziqing’s eyes deepened. After a long time, a slight smile appeared on his lips, though it was unclear what he was thinking about.
…
In the cave where Xu Qingfan was, despite the bright sun outside, the place remained shrouded in shadow and darkness.
Suddenly, Xu Qingfan slowly opened his eyes, his brow furrowed tightly.
By now, Xu Qingfan had relied on the effects of the "Blood Spirit Pill" to heal all of his internal and external injuries. Though the method of crafting the "Blood Spirit Pill" was cruel, it was undoubtedly one of the few miraculous remedies in the cultivation world. After taking it, Xu Qingfan needed only a few days to recover fully, even restoring much of his depleted Spirit Qi.
Especially noticeable was the recovery of Xu Qingfan’s "Flourish Qi." The "Blood Spirit Pill" was rich in life energy, which helped "Flourish Qi" bounce back the fastest. With its recovery, Xu Qingfan’s injuries healed even more rapidly.
However, the healing was limited to physical injuries alone. Despite taking several pills meant to treat his Original Soul’s wounds, progress was agonizingly slow.
Xu Qingfan initially estimated that healing his Original Soul would take at least six months, but after this period of treatment, he realized he had underestimated the difficulty. Judging by the current rate, complete recovery would need at least three years.
However, Xu Qingfan didn’t have the luxury of such time for healing. Besides handling Liu Huaxiang’s third posthumous task, he had secretly left Jiuhua Mountain under the guise of seclusion. If he remained away too long, others might begin to suspect.
Xu Qingfan sighed slightly, and after a moment’s thought, suddenly flipped his right hand over, producing the cultivation method that recorded the "Art of Annihilation." He then sank into his Divine Sense, carefully delving into its secrets.
After a long while, Xu Qingfan’s Divine Sense emerged from the green slip, and his eyes brightened, with a hint of joy on his face.
Although the green slip did not contain the method Xu Qingfan sought to heal his Original Soul’s injury, it had another record, explaining how to heal oneself from the backlash of practicing the Art of Annihilation. Since it discussed healing the Original Soul, it offered Xu Qingfan valuable insights.
Xu Qingfan believed that with this method, the recovery of his Original Soul’s injury should be much faster.
After familiarizing himself with the method, Xu Qingfan retrieved a white spiritual bead from his sleeve. It was a gift from Xuan Ling after a lecture at Qingxu Gate. Xuan Ling had mentioned that this unique artifact from Qingxu Gate had protective and healing effects for the Original Soul. It had been overlooked by Xu Qingfan because of its unremarkable appearance.
Then, Xu Qingfan swallowed several pills for healing the Original Soul’s injury, and with the white spiritual bead in hand, he started using the method recorded in the green slip to heal his Original Soul again.
Days turned into nights, clouds gathered and dispersed, as Xu Qingfan closed his eyes. When he opened them again, it was a year later.
Walking slowly out of the cave, Xu Qingfan suddenly felt a sense of boundless freedom.
After a year of treatment, Xu Qingfan’s Original Soul injury had healed completely. It took longer than the six months he originally expected, but was much shorter than the anticipated three years.
To Xu Qingfan’s delight, the ordeal had made his Original Soul much more refined. With its increased strength, the flow of Spirit Qi became smoother, turning misfortune into an unexpected benefit.
"It has been almost two years since I left the mountain. After fulfilling Martial Uncle Liu’s third wish, it’s time for me to return."
Gazing at the scenery before him, Xu Qingfan murmured.
Without further hesitation, Xu Qingfan soared into the sky, quickly flying eastward. In that direction lay the once-thriving Middle-earth, but years of war had turned it into a desolate place.
…
Meanwhile, as Xu Qingfan secluded himself to heal, the disciples of the "Qingxu Gate," who had endured great hardships, found themselves in disbelief, as if in a dream.
Some time ago, after Xu Qingfan met Immortal Zizhen, the Immortal left the mountain, ignoring the weakened state of the "Qingxu Gate." No one knew the purpose of Immortal Zizhen’s departure.
Yet, six months later, Immortal Zizhen unexpectedly returned, accompanied by someone who left the people of Qingxu Gate unable to believe their eyes.
Venerable Deaf Mute Blind, the Desert Venerable One, the Three-Free Scholar, Yan Mistress…
Nearly ten legendary cultivators appeared at the "Qingxu Gate" one after another. These were esteemed elders, famous for over a thousand years, all at or above the Mahayana Stage. Among them were senior figures from various sects and some who were rumored to have passed away long ago, yet were surprisingly still alive.
After the initial disbelief and surprise, everyone at the "Qingxu Gate," whether ordinary disciples or the Qingxu elders, secretly speculated. What was the true purpose of these legendary figures appearing and gathering at the "Qingxu Gate" in such a short time?
Amidst the confusion, at the top of Ronghua Mountain, in the Qingxu Hall, a group of masters gathered, all with heavy or incredulous expressions on their faces.
After a long while, a letter was passed into the hands of Immortal Zizhen. Before that, each master, who usually remained calm even in the face of a mountain collapsing, changed their expressions drastically after reading the letter.
After a long silence, Immortal Zizhen suddenly spoke, revealing the secrets of the "Qingxu Gate" and matters concerning Immortal Xuanzhen to the gathered masters, causing their expressions to grow even more grave.
Venerable Deaf Mute Blind slowly said, "Based on the information I possess, there is little doubt that the matters Taoist Friend Li Xuhan mentioned in his letter, as well as what Immortal Zizhen just spoke of, are true. Fellow Taoist friends, we should no longer question but rather discuss how we should respond in the current situation."
Ever since the incident at Jiuhua Mountain, Venerable Deaf Mute Blind had begun to speak.
Upon hearing Venerable Deaf Mute Blind’s words, the masters all wore expressions of contemplation.
