Chapter 212: The Final Moment (Part 1)
The Obsidian Beetle hadn’t left the range of the illusion formation yet, it couldn’t fly due to the illusion, so it carried the injured and unconscious Long Qi on its back, while Long Er ran behind it, guiding its direction.
Long Er was still a bit weak, but her mental strength had partially recovered during the rest just now. Though it was still weak overall, it was enough to judge the reality of the illusion formation.
When Long Er and Long Qi entered earlier, the direction they faced was deliberately adjusted by a zombie monk-controlled illusion formation. So they entered without noticing it, but the situation had changed now. The zombie monk had lost its intelligence, and the illusion formation was running autonomously, without anyone guiding it erroneously. Long Er quickly confirmed the exit direction of the illusion formation and charged straight ahead. She knew every second that Zhang Mu bought for her was precious.
Although the bamboo forest in front of her was changing, with directions and the bamboo along the way constantly shifting, if someone could observe Obsidian Beetle and Long Er’s direction from directly above, it would be clear.
They were moving straight forward!
Knowing that Long Er and the others hadn’t completely left the bamboo forest illusion formation, Zhang Mu didn’t dare to leave directly, fearing it might involve them. He could only continue fighting with the zombie monk.
The Blood Lotus, which had absorbed the white fox’s flesh at a rapid pace under Zhang Mu’s nurturing, had successfully regenerated the body of vine that had just been severed, and was now engaged in guerrilla warfare with the crazed zombie monk under Zhang Mu’s control.
Suddenly, a vine shot out and bound a large bamboo pole in the distance. With a strong tug, Zhang Mu was pulled towards it, narrowly escaping the zombie monk’s gaping mouth that almost bit off his legs.
Before he could reach the bamboo pole, a vine extended from Zhang Mu’s left arm, wrapping around another bamboo pole in a completely different direction, causing the vine on the original pole to loosen. Zhang Mu effortlessly changed direction in the air, swinging like a pendulum, outmaneuvering the pursuing zombie monk.
Despite the zombie’s agility, Zhang Mu knew that by utilizing his ability to change direction in the air in ways that defied physics, he could shake off the brute. Although the zombie seemed formidable now, Zhang Mu understood that compared to when it had intellect, its current state could potentially be inferior.
However, the zombie monk’s intellect, possibly due to its recent transformation, was not fully developed. Once Zhang Mu struck at crucial points, its primal instincts took over.
The current zombie was no longer the leader of a horde of six-digit zombies, the legendary smart zombie. It had now turned into a highly skilled second-rank zombie, and Zhang Mu no longer saw it as a threat.
His urgency stemmed from the loss of his fighting capabilities. If he didn’t focus on defeating the zombie monk and instead chose to flee without regard, things would become much easier.
Zhang Mu wasn’t concerned about the future of humanity. He could try within his limits, but if he couldn’t succeed, sacrificing himself would serve no purpose.
Right now, he had only one thought in mind.
Waiting for Long Er and his team to evacuate, he decided to leave this spooky place that almost caused his death.
