Chapter 205: Are You Still Pretending?
Zhang Mu couldn’t let it go easily. The zombie monk now focused on Long Er, as she had ruined its well-prepared attack moments ago.
Zhang Mu began to worry. Despite facing attacks from all angles by him and Long Qi, the zombie monk could defend perfectly. It only needed to focus on protecting the crucial parts of its body, deflecting all of Zhang Mu’s and Long Qi’s assaults.
If Zhang Mu and Long Qi weren’t attacking so swiftly, the zombie monk might have been able to anticipate their moves and counterattack. It was starting to think of ways to grab their bodies.
With Long Er’s occasional reminders from behind, they were always able to dodge fatal blows. But how could Zhang Mu and Long Qi let it succeed, just like hitting a wooden post in training.
Both being of the second rank, how could there be such a big difference?
Zhang Mu’s mind was about to explode, how could there be such a perfect opponent, with such a strong body? Zhang Mu felt that his body was just one step away from a third-rank strongman. As for mental strength, Zhang Mu believed he was evenly matched, even with Long Qi’s help, they could only gain a slight advantage.
However, Zhang Mu dared not use mental strength now. If they won and erased the zombie’s consciousness, zombies were not like humans or mutated beasts. They could survive without a soul. Moreover, unchecked, their ferocity could lead to mindless killing, without any rational thinking.
At that time, dealing with zombies with such bodies would be even more difficult.
Oh yes, there’s a place we haven’t attacked yet, we can try it.
Zhang Mu’s eyes lit up, thinking of a possible weak point for this zombie monk. Excitedly, he told Long Qi, “Have you noticed, we haven’t attacked the back of this zombie’s neck at all? Is he protecting something there intentionally?”
The neck of the zombie is where the elemental crystal is stored. Normally, it would be tougher than the rest of the body. But Zhang Mu had a gut feeling that this was the crucial spot, the last possible location.
Long Qi frowned, indeed, they didn’t attack that tiny spot that he and Zhang Mu had missed earlier. But is it possible? They had tried the most vulnerable head many times, to no avail. Now considering attacking the most resilient spot they had overlooked, was it really feasible?
Zhang Mu spoke very quickly, “Can you help me delay for a while? I dropped my weapon just now and didn’t have time to pick it back up.”
Long Qi looked puzzled and said, “Wasn’t your black dagger just now not even scratching his skin? Do you really want to try again? It doesn’t seem very sharp. Let me handle the strength of the attack just now alone, it could cost me my life now.”
Zhang Mu gave him a glance and replied, “The sharpness of my dagger is not to be underestimated. I obtained it at a great cost. Though I am also puzzled why this zombie’s skin is so tough, but it is definitely worth a try now. We only have one chance. If we fail, the zombie will definitely be more cautious. It’s as if he’s playing a cat and mouse game with us, testing our strength out of curiosity. He’s restraining his instinct to feed just because of his newly emerged intelligence, hinding the unknown. Even though I hate to admit it, do you really think this is all of his strength?”
With a cold look in his eyes, Zhang Mu stared at the zombie monk close by and whispered, “But, human’s greatest strength lies in the uncertainty that breaks all constraints.”
Even if this uncertainty is small, it can’t be trampled and toyed with by anyone.”
Right after speaking, Zhang Mu took a step back, leaving Long Qi to deal with the zombie monk alone, as he rushed towards the place where the Obsidian dagger was lost.
Long Qi was in a desperate situation and shouted, “Hurry up!”
With no help from Zhang Mu, Long Qi unleashed all his potential and started fighting fiercely with the zombie monk.
Zhang Mu had no time to respond to Long Qi. He picked up the Obsidian dagger lying quietly on the ground and forcefully changed direction, heading back towards Long Qi.
In just two short seconds, Long Qi couldn’t defend himself anymore. The zombie monk seemed impatient, as if bored of playing, with both hands reaching out but Long Qi dared not touch.
The zombie’s eyes showed a thirst for blood and a desire to kill, looking sharply at Long Er behind Long Qi.
The zombie monk now craved flesh.
It wanted to eat the most fun human flesh.
Its fighting instinct was strong, suddenly catching Long Qi off guard as he tired from attacking. With a swift arm, it hit Long Qi hard, despite Long Er’s warning.
Long Qi, badly injured! Unconscious!
Just then, though late, Zhang Mu arrived at the moment Long Qi was blasted away.
The zombie monk disdainfully watched as Zhang Mu flew towards him with a punch aimed at his face, as if challenging him. The arm that had just hit Long Qi was still out for defense, ready to see whose punch was stronger.
Zhang Mu smirked, showing a sly smile, muttering, “Want to act human? But with the way you look, in human society, even in TV shows, show-offs like you don’t usually last beyond two episodes.”
He climbed onto the outstretched arm of the zombie monk, using a sneaky technique. His fingers moved smoothly and swiftly, then he suddenly exerted force, wrapping around the body and striking towards the back of the zombie’s neck with a black flash in his sleeve, gleaming coldly like Zhang Mu’s eyes, stabbing fiercely.
Are you still pretending now?
