Chapter 204: Fighting Together
Zhang Mu’s heart had not yet recovered from the shock he had just experienced. After hearing about this ability, he probably guessed the true identity of the veiled woman, who was likely also a member of that special forces unit.
If he remembered correctly, she should be Long Er among them, the renowned prophet.
It was unexpected for the two of them to meet here. No wonder he got along so well with Long Qi – she was his comrade-in-arms, his unrelated sibling.
These people were all very strong and powerful. In Zhang Mu’s memory, except for Long Qi, each of the six brothers was a leader of a city gathering place called Era Store.
I heard that they were originally together, but later, because of disagreements or ambitions, they each went to conquer six different large cities.
You see, there aren’t many cities that have Era Store, and in future generations, once people realized the value of Era Store, everyone wanted to become a ruler. While leaders of other cities might change occasionally due to chaos, the City Masters of these six cities have always been them.
Their strong individual abilities and the intimidating presence of the six of them together are evident.
Now that Long Qi and Long Er are here, where are the other five?
Just then, Zhang Mu heard Long Qi’s alert voice, saying, “Be careful, he seems ready to attack.”
Zhang Mu was startled out of his thoughts, realizing he was distracted right before the battle. It was really foolish, considering the zombie monk could launch an attack at any moment. But it wasn’t entirely Zhang Mu’s fault, as the appearance of the extraordinary ability, Prophecy, had a huge impact on him.
However, this matter, including why he was here, would have to be considered after the battle.
The smart zombie stared at the Obsidian Beetle blocking Zhang Mu and Long Qi for a while, seemingly not taking it seriously, showing more interest in the two people behind it.
The Obsidian Beetle suddenly felt unhappy, it was being looked down upon, even though it hadn’t fought back before due to its serious injuries and the great mental pressure from the zombie monk.
But that didn’t mean it could accept being looked at as someone unworthy of being its opponent. Its anger blazed as its pride was trampled upon, it spread its wings like the roar of an engine and rushed out.
However, across from it, a white figure met the Obsidian Beetle head-on, a headbutt hit the Obsidian Beetle’s back shell, knocking it to the side. Caught off guard, the Obsidian Beetle was flipped over by the white fox and pinned to the ground.
Unable to bear this humiliation, the Obsidian Beetle rapidly gathered wind element behind its wings, compressed it, and then exploded, blasting them both off the ground, finally separating them.
Although the white fox’s teeth and claws were very sharp, the Obsidian Beetle’s exoskeleton was tough too. It only left a few shallow scratches, except for the softer part on its abdomen, revealing the sharpness of the zombie monk’s palm that caused such damage to the Obsidian Beetle’s hardest shell.
Both the Obsidian Beetle and the white fox were mutant beasts and had opened up a new battlefield in the nearby bamboo forest. The bamboo trees were falling down noisily, the white fox couldn’t use its psychic power, the Obsidian Beetle couldn’t use its wind element in this cramped space, and the fighting grew more intense, unleashing their hidden ferocity as they tangled.
Seeing the Obsidian Beetle being dragged away, Zhang Mu didn’t mind. Just in case the white fox recovered its psychic power and ambushed them later, that wouldn’t be fun. By letting it and the Obsidian Beetle sort out their issue, he and Long Qi could focus on dealing with the zombie monk’s problem.
Long Er was a bit far from Zhang Mu and Long Qi, with only five meters separating Zhang Mu and the zombie monk. Both men crouched down, ready for any potential attack.
“Remember, believe every word she says, because it’s about our lives.”
“I understand.”
Zhang Mu agreed confidently, realizing the importance of Long Er’s evolution ability, and understanding how big of an advantage it was for them.
The zombie monk’s hand moved slightly upward, Zhang Mu’s eyes focused as he kicked out with his right foot, charging forward. Long Qi followed closely behind, both attacking the zombie monk from different angles.
Having integrated his fighting instinct into each of his offensive movements in his past life, Zhang Mu was well-versed in combat skills. Long Qi, being a special forces instructor, was also highly skilled in martial arts. Despite it being their first time working together, their attacks were flawless.
The smart zombie didn’t resist immediately for some reason, and Zhang Mu felt like his kicks were hitting a solid metal surface. Whether or not it caused any harm, Zhang Mu was overwhelmed by the excruciating pain from the impact.
It felt exactly like metal, similar to Zhang Mu’s experience with the copper-skinned, iron-boned zombies he had encountered in his past life.
The quick attack completely suppressed the zombie monk who couldn’t react fast enough.
Despite the pain, Zhang Mu didn’t halt his assault. The only way they could gain the upper hand was through swift attacks. If they paused, the zombie could retaliate against one of them, rendering their teamwork futile.
“Zhang Mu, move to the left.”
Long Er sounded worried from behind, causing Zhang Mu to quickly take a big step to the left without hesitation.
Suddenly, from where Zhang Mu had just been, a familiar withered hand silently emerged.
The hand went straight through the illusion left by Zhang Mu’s recent movement.
The zombie monk unexpectedly lunged forward with a hand, moving faster. Thanks to Long Er’s warning, Zhang Mu narrowly dodged it. He continued to attack, pushing the zombie monk’s hand back into place.
The cold gaze of the zombie monk shifted towards where Long Er was, feeling that this woman was ruining its plans. It decided to go after her.
