Chapter 44: Military Meeting
Military Headquarters.
In the conference room, the military marshal, Iron Blood, along with two Eight-Star Generals and twelve Seven-Star Generals, was holding a virtual video conference.
He tossed a stack of documents onto the conference table.
Iron Blood’s gaze swept across the virtual images of the fourteen military leaders.
“Here is the latest collected list of heavy criminals sent to the exile planet.”
“In the past eight years, there have only been six thousand five hundred twenty-three heavy criminals. In just a few months, this list has surged to over seventeen thousand.”
“Recently, the spirit stone incident has caused quite a stir, and the number of heavy criminals has suddenly skyrocketed, increasing by over a thousand in just two days.”
Bang!
One irritable Seven-Star General could not help but pound his fist on the conference table.
The sound transmitted through the video, reaching the ears of the other military leaders.
“Damn the parliament, what are they thinking? To balance various powers, they have taken benefits from those top tycoons, disregarding Yi Chen’s safety, allowing those top tycoons to hire top hackers to infiltrate Large Battleships and alter data and systems!
“They completely ignore the identities of these heavy criminals and welcome everyone with open arms.”
“Do they understand that among these heavy criminals, there are certainly some spies from the Various Races? And these spies surely want to kill Yi Chen.”
“The safety of Yi Chen, as well as whether he knows about the existence of the human federation, is tied to the fate of all humanity!”
A gloomy-faced Seven-Star General sneered, “Calm down! According to the research institute’s findings, our human training talents are far inferior to those of the Various Races and will soon hit a bottleneck and a limit.”
“Even Yi Chen’s talent may reach its limit early in terms of training speed, but the limit in creating skills will also arise quickly. Perhaps, after he breaks through to the next realm, it will be difficult for him to create skills that match his new realm.”
“His safety is not as important as the public thinks. For humanity to continue on the path of training, we need to rely on the imagination of genius generations in the future, constantly making breakthroughs and enhancements, slowly passing down knowledge.”
The irritable Seven-Star General grunted, “Isn’t it ironic, considering Yi Tenglóng wiped out your entire clan back in the day?”
“Yi Tenglóng is Yi Tenglóng, and Yi Chen is Yi Chen. He has made tremendous contributions to humanity; based solely on that, we must ensure his safety. What’s more, if something were to happen to him, the uninformed public would definitely cause violent unrest.”
The gloomy-faced Seven-Star General, unfazed by the sarcasm, replied calmly:
“Don’t forget, this plan was not proposed by me. In fact, I’m also surprised by what the federation parliament is thinking.”
“Yi Chen has indeed made significant contributions to humanity, but in the eyes of the parliament, no matter how great those contributions are, they do not compare to future interests.”
“On the contrary, considering Yi Chen’s contributions, if he leaves the exile planet in the future and chooses to enter politics, along with his character and prestige, he will surely become a competitor to many forces.”
“After extracting all usable value from him, it would be a great benefit for the higher-ups of the parliament to make him disappear.”
“Normally, the federal parliament should maximize the benefits of this situation; through those heavy criminals, they would find out just how many forces nurtured by the Various Races are hidden within humanity and then eliminate them completely.”
“But thus far, according to our military intelligence, the intelligence agency of the federal parliament has not thoroughly investigated this matter.”
“That is the most unusual part; after all, even among the higher-ups of the federal parliament, there shouldn’t be any who could act as spies for the Various Races. Why would they abandon the interests of the human federation for the sake of the Various Races?”
“If that were the case, humanity would have crumbled a hundred years ago after that great defeat.”
The military leaders could not help but show expressions of deep contemplation.
This point was exactly what puzzled them.
“The parliament is different from us in the Military. They are all old foxes, surely plotting plans we cannot fathom.”
The only female Seven-Star General pondered, "We resolve our conflicts by directly drawing our guns. We can create battle plans, but when it comes to devious schemes, we are no match for those old foxes in the parliament who can act like brothers even in the face of a sworn enemy.”
“Rather than guessing their plans, it’s better to ignore them and proceed with our own strategy. Let’s mobilize all personnel from the intelligence agency and thoroughly investigate the spies from the Various Races through those heavy criminals.”
“If the parliament feels we are interrupting their plans, they will naturally contact the Marshal, and we can adjust based on the situation then.”
Once this was said, although the generals felt somewhat downcast, they couldn’t help but nod in agreement.
In the past, even though the Military was under the federal parliament, it operated independently, and the parliament did not dare to interfere with the Military’s action plans.
In fact, the parliament often had to yield to the Military’s plans.
However, the great defeat a hundred years ago, which was the worst in human history, not only caused heavy losses for the Military but also reduced its prestige to its lowest point.
As a result, after the parliament made strange decisions, the Military had to hold high-level meetings to discuss the matter.
In the past, they would not have cared about the parliament’s decisions; the Military only needed to focus on what decisions it had to make.
“Let’s end it here! This meeting is adjourned!”
Marshal Iron Blood paused for a moment before decisively announcing the end of the meeting.
With military power in hand, the two Eight-Star Generals and twelve Seven-Star Generals, who guarded the entire galaxy, promptly ended the video communication.
Their holographic images disappeared.
Yet, Marshal Iron Blood did not get up from the table.
A look of deep contemplation appeared on his stern face.
“Longer lifespan, immense financial interests, threats from spies of the Various Races, and the complex relationships among the surrounding races of the galaxy…”
“No matter how you look at it, this decision has contradictory conflicts of interest. What exactly is the parliament plotting?”
…
Days passed by.
The public was immersed in the joy of doubling their training speed thanks to spirit stones.
Various forces lurked in the unfathomable darkness, quietly waiting for their plans and schemes to unfold.
On the exile planet,
Yi Chen, except for occasionally bringing the Little Gold Ball to help the four armies deal with fierce beasts they couldn’t handle, spent each day deeply focusing on testing and creating energy circulation pathways for his swordsmanship, combining them with insights he gained from sword intent.
Finally, the day arrived when the new batch of heavy criminals was sent to the exile planet.
All of humanity’s attention was focused here.
Even the high-ranking officials from the surrounding races turned their eyes toward this event.
Moreover, since nearly everyone believed that Yi Chen’s direction of creating new skills was flawed, no one paid attention to the swordsmanship he was also about to create.
