Chapter 172: Paying Tuition to Yi Chen

At the military headquarters.

In the conference room.

Fifteen major figures gathered together.

Among them was Commander Mo Qiankun, who was leading the Elite Fleet to attack the Angelic Galaxy, and he was also present.

“The reason for this emergency meeting should be clear to everyone,” Marshal Iron Blood stated as his gaze swept across the projections of the crowd.

“According to the data reported by your fourteen military districts, none of those top geniuses who successfully reached the ninth level of Spirit Consciousness through various potions and spirit mine properties have managed to break through to the Heart Tribulation Stage.”

“This includes a few military personnel who originally possessed strong willpower. They attempted to aid these geniuses during their breakthroughs using equipment, stimulating them with electricity or sound, yet they all ended in failure.”

“The only bit of good news is for those with a strong mentality. Even if they failed, they were able to wake up in time, and the consequences weren’t too severe—just some disarray in their spirit power, needing a period of time for recovery.”

“Even those with unsteady minds, although the later they wake up the more severe the consequences, only experienced some damage to their Qi Sea and meridians due to the impact of spirit power.”

“But this damage did not reach an irreversible level, and with some auxiliary potions, they can also find recovery over a few years.”

Marshal Iron Blood continued, “The analyst’s conclusion based on all the compiled data is that the higher the talent, the stronger the possible intensity of the heart tribulation.”

“The strongest evidence for this is that at the time the heart tribulation occurred, the brainwave speeds of the others were nearly identical, consistent with their talents. Only Yi Chen’s brainwave speed surged several times over.”

“The reason we use the word ‘possible’ is due to the insufficient number of samples. We can only confirm this once geniuses of other levels begin to break through.”

“At the moment, the most important other inference is that the analyst believes the root cause of everyone failing to break through smoothly lies with Yi Chen.”

The gathered giants nodded in agreement.

Their data was not as comprehensive as that of Marshal Iron Blood, but they could guess the general situation.

After all, most failures were caused by the heart tribulations manifested by Yi Chen, making them fail at their skills.

A small number of those with unsteady willpower also fell first due to other heart tribulation illusions.

Marshal Iron Blood added, “The reason is likely not just owing to feelings of debt to Yi Chen, but also to Yi Chen’s current level of power, influence, and some other factors.”

“Otherwise, it’s hard to explain why no one has succeeded, especially when many feel they owe Yi Chen nothing.”

“Even those with steadfast willpower, while feeling indebted to Yi Chen, should not reach such a degree of being unable to break free. Follow-up investigations indicated that some emotional fluctuations caused by the illusions were much more intense.”

“Even if these failures did not feel they owed Yi Chen anything, Yi Chen’s formidable power and his huge influence on humanity likely conjured a mysterious force, making Yi Chen become the heart tribulation for everyone, and the hardest to overcome.”

The atmosphere among the giants immediately grew grave.

This situation seemed far more serious than they had anticipated.

If they couldn’t resolve this issue, would even those top geniuses be unable to break through to the Heart Tribulation Stage?

This would undoubtedly lead to a disaster of unpredictable consequences for humanity.

“Is there a solution?”

One giant could not help but ask.

Marshal Iron Blood explained, “The think tank, based on the analyst’s insights, has proposed several possible solutions.”

“The first approach is to resolve it from Yi Chen’s side. If we can gain Yi Chen’s understanding and authorization, becoming a legitimate disciple of the Flame Mountain Tribe, everything should fall into place smoothly.”

“According to the Analyst’s analysis, the tribe members of the Flame Mountain Tribe may not have much trouble with the heart tribulation they encounter during their breakthroughs.”

The group of giants shook their heads repeatedly.

This solution seemed like a joke.

If Yi Chen were to run out of ideas and his talent for creating skills reached its limit, there might be a slim hope to try.

Because the worst consequence would simply be to provoke Yi Chen’s anger and have him eliminate the past negotiators.

But now…

After stealing lessons for three years and broadcasting for three years, discovering they couldn’t break through the heart tribulation, they planned to seek understanding and authorization from Yi Chen.

Given Yi Chen’s temperament and his unpredictable manner of doing things, who knew what kind of decision he would make?

It was possible he might appear indifferent, agree to grant understanding and authorization, then turn around and begin devising a new skill that made all of humanity look powerful, only for them to explode while training.

“Another approach is to focus on ourselves.”

Marshal Iron Blood clearly had no interest in discussing the first thought and jumped straight to the next one: “The second approach has two branches, aimed at the two reasons preventing anyone from breaking through.”

“Since Yi Chen’s current level is powerful and his influence overwhelming, we should find a way to suppress his level and influence.”

“Of course, this does not mean suppression in the negative sense, as that would make us owe him even more, possibly leading to even worse consequences.”

“The think tank proposes to distract Yi Chen, keeping him too busy to practice.”

“For instance, we could transport some of the items he wants or needs to the exile planet. Or we could send a batch of fierce beasts around the Flame Mountain Tribe’s sphere of influence that he could easily hunt, which would be rich in resources.”

The fourteen giants’ eyes lit up.

This idea was indeed worth trying.

“The other branch involves self-compensation. We could have all those about to break through pay a certain price to compensate Yi Chen, much like paying tuition.”

Marshal Iron Blood continued, “This way, we could reduce our feelings of indebtedness while also possibly diminishing that mysterious force forming in the background.”

“The price should ideally be substantial and directly beneficial to Yi Chen, rather than something superficial.”

“Of course, we could also try conferring some title or honor on Yi Chen in the name of all humanity or even build a statue. Who knows, it might have some positive effect.”

“As for those about to break through, they can decide how much they are willing to give. We’ll convert that into what Yi Chen wants or needs and send it to the exile planet.”

Marshal Iron Blood concluded, “Both branches address two possible outcomes. Yet, ultimately, they can converge to be implemented together!”

“I feel this idea is feasible!”

“I agree with this thought.”

The fourteen giants immediately expressed their support.

“Since everyone has no objections, let’s have the think tank draft a detailed plan and submit it to the council! Hopefully, those crafty old foxes in the council won’t create any complications.”

Marshal Iron Blood felt a headache coming on.

The Military shared a common interest, and all the giants wanted to resolve this issue quickly. It was inevitable that they would unanimously approve this solution.

But since the matter involved Yi Chen and all of humanity, it was no longer solely under the Military’s control.

It had to be approved by the council.

If the underlying issues were made public, under federal law, not only would the council’s approval be required, but a nationwide vote would also be necessary.

Naturally, passing a nationwide vote would also be a certainty.

The real trouble lay in the council.

The council’s decision-makers had previously allowed internal agents from various tribes to infiltrate when fake heavy criminals were deployed, which was completely illogical and surely concealed some schemes and plots.

Unfortunately, as a military marshal, he could never get a straight answer from the council’s decision-makers about their true intentions.

The last incident had already infuriated him, and if they pulled any more tricks this time, he feared he would lose his temper and rush over to the council building to confront someone.
