Chapter 171: The Cycle of Cause and Effect

After much contemplation, Yi Chen finally sorted out his thoughts on creating the first spirit formation.

The first step was to deepen his understanding of the heavenly laws required for the defensive formation.

Currently, his comprehension of the heavenly laws had reached the limits of his current realm.

However, the heavenly laws were a very broad concept.

It was like learning multiplication; it didn’t mean he knew the product of multiplying a multi-digit number.

He needed to understand the rules of multiplication and spend time calculating the answer.

The same applied to the heavenly laws; reaching the peak of comprehension meant he fully understood the rules of heaven.

Yet, the rules of heaven included countless laws.

To use a specific law, he had to study it thoroughly based on his understanding of the heavenly rules.

A defensive formation involved several main characteristics of the laws, which could be subdivided into dozens of features like resilience, strength, and directionality.

Moreover, this was under the premise that Yi Chen was conceiving a simple defensive formation.

Even adding a feature to rebound attacks or a function to automatically activate upon sensing an attack would significantly increase the required law characteristics.

For a larger, more complex defensive formation with many functions, the number of law characteristics involved would increase exponentially.

After summarizing the main law characteristics relevant to the defensive formation, Yi Chen began to tackle them one by one.

He sat cross-legged and quietly contemplated.

From time to time, he suddenly took out his spiritual sword and struck the wall with a faint Sword Energy, observing with his divine consciousness.

Alternatively, he would remove a hair from the little gold ball, which wore an innocent expression, to study it.

…

"Wow, is he about to start creating a new skill?"

"I thought his new skill would be something like the weapon refining technique."

"Everyone thought it would be a skill related to potion-making! After all, Yi Chen has been getting the four armies to gather spirit materials, just like he had them collect spirit mines before."

"Maybe he hasn’t found the right spirit materials yet! The spirit materials sent to him are over a hundred types, yet none meet his expectations."

"Now that he has broken through to a new major realm, he suddenly has some inspiration and begins to develop it."

"That should be the case."

"I wonder what type of new skill it will be; it looks like it could enhance attack or be a defensive-type skill."

The audience in the live room saw that Yi Chen was clearly re-examining the laws of heaven and occasionally displaying peculiar actions, prompting them to guess he might be researching a new skill.

Their minds were filled with mixed feelings.

In the past, they would have been extremely delighted.

This meant Yi Chen at least had ideas for two new skills.

As a rule, every new skill created by Yi Chen could bring immense benefits to all of humanity.

If two new skills were created, their value was beyond imagination.

The problem is…

These two new skills were only created after breaking through to a new major realm.

This means that even if Yi Chen wants to teach the top geniuses of the tribe, these geniuses must at least break through to a new realm first.

Currently, most of the top geniuses of the Flame Mountain Tribe have only just broken through to the fifth level of Spirit Consciousness, with only a few having successfully advanced to the sixth level.

Adding the challenge of reaching the Peak of the Ninth Level of Spirit Consciousness, breaking through to the first level of Heart Tribulation is still a long way off.

Reaching the first level of Heart Tribulation and breaking through to a new major realm is even further away.

Even a single weapon refining technique has already put all of humanity in a state of anxious waiting.

If two more powerful new skills were created, and the waiting time was even longer, just thinking about it would be unbearable.

In the past, everyone worried that Yi Chen’s creative talent had reached its limit and that he would be unable to create new skills.

Now, however, many began to worry that Yi Chen was creating new skills too quickly.

If the top geniuses couldn’t reach the level to learn the new skills, then even if Yi Chen wanted to pass them on, there would be no one to teach.

…

Time flew by, and more than a month passed in the blink of an eye.

Galaxy.

Third Military District.

A military base built on an uninhabited planet.

On the top floor of the dormitory building, there were ten dormitories of the highest standard.

These ten dormitories were simply decorated.

But each had an area of over two hundred square meters, equipped with training rooms and various training equipment.

Only the commanders of the base were usually qualified to reside there.

In one of the dormitories, Rao Xiong was sitting on a metal bed that radiated heat, fully focused on his training.

The edges of the metal bed had several grooves.

In these grooves lay many spirit stones and other types of spirit mines.

One groove also held some potion bottles.

He appeared to be in his early thirties, with a strong and resilient face and impressive muscle definition.

At this age, wanting to become a high-ranking commander in a military base was naturally a foolish dream.

Even a strong background would not change that.

The reason he could cultivate in this dormitory was simply that, within the entire military base, there was no one with a higher talent than him.

Even among the entire Seventh Military District, the entire military department, and even all of humanity, his talent was undoubtedly at the very top of the pyramid.

The time he took to break through from Qi Condensation First Stage to the first level of Spirit Release was almost on par with Yi Chen.

Although the time required later started to stretch out.

But the change wasn’t too drastic.

While Yi Chen spent most of his time creating new skills, Rao Xiong even managed to surpass Yi Chen and reached a higher realm first.

However, after reaching this higher realm, he had to stop and wait for Yi Chen to break through to a higher realm and create the upgraded Chaos Technique before he could continue his training.

It wasn’t until the Spirit Law stage that Yi Chen’s talent seemed to inexplicably improve, and as the time spent understanding the ways of the world grew longer, the gap between them continued to widen.

Nevertheless, compared to the other top geniuses, especially those of the Flame Mountain Tribe, he was still much faster.

This was because he was a key training target in the Seventh Military District, as well as a priority target for the entire Military.

The Military gathered spirit materials that could speed up training, enhance understanding of the world, or even temporarily boost talent, and these were prioritized for him after being made into potions by the research institute.

Spirit mines with similar effects were provided the same way.

Among the top geniuses of the Flame Mountain Tribe, most had reached the sixth level of Spirit Consciousness, with only a few still at the fifth level.

He had already broken through to the Peak of the Ninth Level of Spirit Consciousness.

“General Rao, we have detected that your spirit power purity has reached its peak and is about to hit the critical point for a breakthrough. Please pause your training and accept the mind training arranged for you.”

The voice of a researcher echoed from a speaker in the corner.

“No need for that trouble, I’ll break through directly!”

Rao Xiong replied and ignored it.

The researcher hesitated for a moment but didn’t insist further.

This young major general really didn’t need such trouble.

The reason was simple; before Yi Chen emerged and created a cultivation method, Rao Xiong was already a member of the Military.

Moreover, he was a top member of the elite special forces in the Seventh Military District.

Various mental tests were merely a common occurrence for him.

His willpower was far beyond ordinary people.

Compared to Yi Chen, who spent long periods focusing intensely on researching and testing the pathway of energy circulation, Rao Xiong was equally capable.

Soon, as he continued to train, Rao Xiong found himself in a space battlefield.

All around him, countless space battleships were being destroyed by the powerful beings of various tribes.

Debris scattered throughout space was everywhere.

The cries of humanity and the laughter of powerful beings intertwined painfully in his ears, stabbing at his eardrums.

A fiery rage roared within his chest.

He wanted to charge at an Angelic Being, but found himself unable to move a muscle, only able to watch as they destroyed space battleships carrying countless humans.

His eyes turned crimson, nearly bursting with fury.

But he quickly calmed himself.

In his heart, he kept reminding himself that anger was merely a sign of powerlessness.

Only by breaking free from this inexplicable restraint could he contribute to the battle for humanity.

Just as he pondered how to escape the restraints, the scene before him abruptly changed.

In front of him appeared the girl he had secretly admired during his youth.

She presented him with two choices: either retire or never see her again.

He didn’t respond.

Without hesitation, he turned and walked away.

The scene before him twisted again.

Yi Chen suddenly appeared before him.

A terrifying pressure swept over him like a ruler above the heavens.

The sharp gaze seemed as if it could tear him apart.

A thunderous voice, echoing like divine wrath, surged from all directions, striking at his soul:

“Return my skills!”

Rao Xiong was shocked and speechless, unable to say a single word in response.

He could only lower his head, not daring to look at Yi Chen.

That horrifying pressure, like the roar of divine might, continued unabated.

It forced his legs to bend.

Thud!

He knelt on the ground.

Thud…

In the next moment, in the room,

A mouthful of blood sprayed from Rao Xiong.

It splattered across the spirit materials, spirit stones, and potion bottles before him, staining them with dense blood.

The cycle of heavenly principles,

The cycle of cause and effect!
