As expected, the Hovering Herb was a coveted treasure among Grand Spirit Masters—even Lu Yijun desired it.
“Dean Sun, Senior.”
“The Hovering Herb was the betrothal gift I promised my sister-in-law. Now that it’s been given to the Su Family’s old ancestor, he has likely already refined it.”
Chen Fei spoke truthfully.
“That was the Hovering Herb! Giving it to the Su Family’s ancestor, an old man on the brink of death, what a waste…” Lu Yijun sighed with deep regret.
“Nonsense!” Sun Qianyi glared at Lu Yijun and rebuked, “That was a betrothal gift for Chen Yang’s sister-in-law. It’s not a waste no matter how it’s used.”
“Speaking of which, since Chen Yang has joined Silver Moon Academy, his brother and sister-in-law are now considered family.” Sun Qianyi continued, “Lu, find some time to personally visit the Su Family and meet Chen Yang’s brother and sister-in-law.”
“We can’t have people thinking Silver Moon Academy is ignorant of proper etiquette,” Sun Qianyi declared.
“You’re right, Dean. I’ll visit the Su Family today,” Lu Yijun nodded promptly.
Chen Fei stood by, uncertain of what to say.
Object?
They were using the guise of etiquette to justify their actions, claiming to care about his brother.
Not object?
If they truly cared about etiquette, they should have intervened when he subdued the Qin Family. At the very least, they should have considered Qin Shuang’s status as a student of Silver Moon Academy and stepped in to mediate.
But before that, Sun Qianyi never mentioned the Qin Family at all. Instead, after Chen Fei suppressed the Qin Family, Sun Qianyi was the first to extend an olive branch.
Even if Sun Qianyi had genuinely been unaware of Qin Shuang’s background, Chen Fei had already been a special recruit of Silver Moon Academy for some time. Why hadn’t anyone mentioned visiting the Su Family before?
Clearly, Sun Qianyi’s sudden concern was just an excuse to reclaim the Hovering Herb from the Su Family, leveraging Chen Yang and Chen Fei’s relationship.
Lu Yijun offered to accompany Chen Fei to the Su Family, but Chen Fei declined, citing a “misunderstanding” between him and his brother—claiming that his brother refused to see him.
After leaving, Chen Fei rushed to the Su Family.
Upon arrival, he immediately sensed something was wrong. The Su Family’s security was unusually strict, with far more guards than usual.
Anyone could tell that something serious had happened.
“Son-in-law, the master has ordered a lockdown on the Su residence today.” The guards blocked the entrance, refusing to let Chen Fei in.
“What do you mean?” Chen Fei frowned and snorted coldly. “You know I’m the Su Family’s son-in-law. You can’t block me just because of a lockdown.”
“Apologies, son-in-law, but please don’t make things difficult for us. You should leave and come back in a few days,” the guards insisted.
“Has the young lady returned?” Chen Fei asked.
“Son-in-law, don’t force me.” The guard ignored his question, stepping forward and reaching for his weapon.
Seeing this, Chen Fei understood immediately—Su Ran had likely returned, and Su Lianwu could no longer wait.
“Could it be that Su Lianwu took action against Su Ran while I was fighting for the Black Copper Mine with the Lin Family?”
A chill ran down Chen Fei’s spine. If that were the case, then the Su Family was already on the brink of collapse, and Su Lianwu had made his move against Su Ran and her allies.
Chen Fei stopped arguing with the guards. Instead, he left quietly, found a secluded spot, took off his sunglasses, and put on a mask—disguising himself as Chen Yang.
With his new identity, he returned to the Su residence.
The moment the guards saw him, they instinctively drew their weapons and shouted, “The Su Family is under lockdown today! No visitors allowed!”
“Get lost!”
Now disguised as Chen Yang, Chen Fei had no need for restraint. He unleashed his spiritual energy, overwhelming the guards, who were mere fourth- and fifth-rank Spirit Masters—no match for him.
Breaking into the Su residence, he rushed toward the wedding courtyard.
Although more guards tried to stop him along the way, none could stand in his way.
Soon, he arrived outside the wedding courtyard, where he saw Su Teng, Su Wan, and others surrounding the area.
Using the perception of his Spirit-Eyed Snake, he sensed inside the courtyard—Su Ran and her people were surrounded by Su Lianwu and his forces.
“Su Ran, stop resisting. The old ancestor is in no condition to save you,” Su Lianwu sneered.
“Daughter, just give them what they want. As long as we survive, we can rebuild the Su Family later,” Su Lianxin pleaded. At this point, he had lost the will to fight against his younger brothers. He only hoped that after Su Lianwu and the others got what they wanted, they would keep their promise and let them leave Huangwu City alive.
“Sweetheart, as long as you’re alive, there’s still hope. What do they want from you?” Su Ran’s mother, Jiang Yunni, also tried to persuade her.
Su Ran was covered in blood—clearly, she had been wounded before. Miao Yue had it even worse, as one of the Su Family’s elders was holding her like a captured animal.
At this moment, Su Ran had lost everything. Even her father and mother had sided with Su Lianwu’s faction in a desperate bid for survival.
“They want my life!” Su Ran coldly replied to her father, who was on his knees, begging Su Lianwu for mercy.
“What?!”
Su Lianxin’s expression changed, disbelief flashing across his face as he looked at Su Lianwu.
“Are you really willing to kill your own niece?” Su Lianxin trembled as he spoke.
“Brother, that woman isn’t really your daughter—she’s an impostor! Only by getting rid of her can the Su Family find peace!” Su Lianwu declared shockingly.
“Impossible!”
“How could I not recognize my own daughter?”
“Brother, you must be mistaken…”
Su Lianxin refused to believe Su Lianwu’s claim, convinced it was just an excuse to justify killing Su Ran.
Growing impatient, Su Lianwu raised his weapon, which hummed with power, and stepped toward Su Ran.
“Su Ran, this is your last chance to surrender,” Su Lianwu said coldly. “If you keep resisting, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
With that, he prepared to strike and personally capture Su Ran.
Just as the moment of crisis reached its peak, the courtyard doors burst open.
Chen Fei stormed in, grabbing Su Teng and Su Wan by their collars as if they were mere ragdolls.
“Who dares to touch my sister-in-law?!”
Chen Fei’s voice boomed through the courtyard.
