Liu Yunyan and Zhang Linsheng’s expressions changed slightly upon hearing the words.
“Master Liu, if it’s too difficult, please don’t force yourself. I’ll think of another way,” Chen Fei knew that this was not a simple matter.
“Teacher Chen, while this is indeed a difficult task, since you have asked, my wife and I will do our best. Whether or not we succeed…” Liu Yunyan agreed, but he didn’t dare to make any promises.
“Regardless of the outcome, I thank you in advance, Master Liu.” Chen Fei was only hoping for a chance.
After sending off the Liu couple, Chen Fei took out the three third-grade spiritual pills they had gifted him.
These were not rare pills, just ordinary ones.
Even so, acquiring three such pills in a short period must have cost Liu Yunyan and his wife a great deal.
Without delay, Chen Fei began absorbing and refining the three pills.
As the pill entered his stomach, the Void Heaven Cauldron extracted its medicinal power. Spiritual energy surged, vibrating at a rhythmic frequency. With each pulse, a portion of the pill’s energy was absorbed…
Again and again, in just a short moment, the power of one entire third-grade pill was completely refined.
Yet, even a full pill failed to push him past the peak of the Seventh Level of the Transformation Spirit Realm.
Chen Fei couldn’t help but smile wryly. This was beyond his expectations.
After a moment of contemplation, he realized the reason.
The Void Heaven Cauldron had absorbed the demonic core and blood essence of top-tier Transformation Spirit Realm beasts, as well as the powerful spiritual energy and blood of the Silver Flood Dragon.
Although this only brought him to the peak of the Seventh Level, the density of spiritual energy in his body had reached an unimaginable level—far beyond what an ordinary Seventh-Level Grand Spirit Master could compare to.
Thus, while third-grade spirit pills could rapidly boost an ordinary Seventh-Level Grand Spirit Master’s energy, they had little effect on him.
Understanding this, Chen Fei decided not to refine the remaining two third-grade pills.
“The matter of the Merchant Transport Team cannot be delayed. If I wait too long, the secret realm will open, and I may not even reach the Ninth-Level Grand Spirit Master stage, let alone break into the True Spirit Master Realm.”
Determined, Chen Fei resolved to accelerate the growth of the Merchant Transport Team. Only by doing so could he leverage their power to acquire superior third-grade pills.
The secret realm in Yellow Mist City was about to open, and it was the greatest opportunity he could currently access. Therefore, he placed great importance on it.
If he could enter the secret realm as a Ninth-Level Grand Spirit Master, he would have a chance to break through to the True Spirit Master Realm within it.
If he could step into the secret realm as a True Spirit Master, then he would have the potential to become one of the top Spirit Masters in the Great Qing Kingdom in the future.
The next morning, just as Chen Fei was about to leave the Su family residence, Su Wan was once again waiting outside his courtyard.
“Brother-in-law, congratulations!” Su Wan greeted him with a teasing smile. “I heard you’ve not only been promoted to Deputy Director of the Dance Bureau but also became the dance teacher of Master Liu Yunyan’s children?”
“Sister Su Wan, waiting outside my door so early in the morning—aren’t you afraid the servants will see and start gossiping?” Chen Fei teased.
“Who dares?” Su Wan scoffed. “It’s just that brother-in-law’s status keeps rising, yet you’re still alone at night. Such a pity.”
“What do you mean by that, Sister Su Wan?” Chen Fei feigned ignorance at her suggestive tone.
“If you don’t mind, you can visit my place sometime. At least you won’t have to endure the loneliness of an empty room,” Su Wan said flirtatiously.
Hearing this, Chen Fei found it laughable. Su Xiangwu was truly willing to use any means to control the Su family.
“Sister Su Wan, you’re joking. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.” Chen Fei had no interest in Su Wan. The only reason he entertained her conversation was because of the third-grade pill she had promised him.
“You’re so dull!” Su Wan pouted. She had made her intentions clear, yet he continued to play dumb.
“Isn’t it just a third-grade spirit pill? This lady doesn’t even care for it!” Though reluctant, Su Wan took out the pill meant to win over Chen Fei and handed it to him.
“The pill is yours, but don’t forget our agreement. In the next few days, you’d best avoid the Su family, lest you get caught in the crossfire.” Su Wan warned.
“You’re planning to act against Su Ran?” Chen Fei quickly asked.
“Just remember our deal. Don’t ask about Su family matters,” Su Wan said before stomping away angrily.
After she left, Chen Fei did not rush off but instead summoned Miao Yue.
“Miao Yue, this is a gift from Master Liu. It’s useless to a cripple like me, but it should help Su Ran,” Chen Fei said, handing her the remaining two third-grade pills along with the one he just received from Su Wan.
Miao Yue opened the pouch and was stunned. She looked at Chen Fei in disbelief.
“Don’t ask!” Chen Fei stopped her from questioning him further and instead said solemnly, “Tell Su Ran that something is happening within the Su family. She needs to be careful.”
“Understood!” Miao Yue nodded before hurrying away from the Su residence.
Once she was gone, Chen Fei finally left as well, heading straight to Li Zhong’s courtyard, where he transformed into ‘Chen Yang.’
As expected, Li Zhong immediately informed him that Miao Yue had come early in the morning, saying Su Ran had arranged to meet him at Yellow Moon Tower that night.
“I’m not going. When the time comes, just give this to her,” Chen Fei handed Li Zhong the Hovering Grass.
“Young Master, wouldn’t it be better if you gave it to her yourself?” Li Zhong asked, puzzled.
“I have to deal with the Black Copper Mine rights today,” Chen Fei replied.
He didn’t want to meet Su Ran again under the guise of ‘Chen Yang.’ This mode of interaction made him uncomfortable.
“Understood,” Li Zhong nodded. Then, he added, “Young Master, Elder Sun from Silver Moon Academy sent people to look for you. He asked you to visit when you have time.”
“I see,” Chen Fei nodded, knowing exactly why Sun Qianyi was looking for him.
Back in Fallen Swirl Valley, he had unintentionally disrupted Sun Qianyi and his group’s ambush on the Silver Flood Dragon and nearly died himself.
Later, he had also seized the Hovering Grass that Wei Junhao and Song Yiyun from Qinghai Academy had found. Sun Qianyi must have learned about it by now.
The Battle for the Black Copper Mine
Chen Fei then summoned the leaders of the Merchant Transport Team—Boss Chen, Second Brother Yang, and Fatty San—and led them to the City Lord’s office.
According to protocol, today was the scheduled day for his battle with the Lin family over the rights to the Black Copper Mine.
This matter had already spread throughout the City Lord’s estate.
Even Young City Lord Ye Bufan and various family heads with interests in Black Copper Mine had arrived early to witness the outcome.
On one side stood the Lin family, one of Yellow Mist City’s three old elite families.
On the other was the rising star who had single-handedly crushed the Qin family.
Many were eager to see who would claim control over the Black Copper Mine’s rights.
