Chen Fei hesitated for a moment before ultimately following his instincts. He dared not linger in this area and decided to retrace his steps, intending to leave this unsettling place.
Just as he turned to leave, the once-calm pool of water ahead suddenly began to bubble and churn violently, as though boiling. Waves of heat and surging water erupted from below.
Then, a massive head broke through the surface of the water.
“A Flood Dragon!”
The moment Chen Fei sensed its presence, his heartbeat pounded like never before. Inside his body, the Void Sky Cauldron trembled intensely, as if it were desperate to drag him toward the pool.
Chen Fei forcefully suppressed the cauldron’s urge, refusing to move a single step. He even wished he could bury himself underground.
A Flood Dragon!
A fearsome beast of the Spirit Master Realm!
Its strength was beyond question.
The infamous Devouring Spirit Gu Poison—known as an incurable poison for all but True Spirit Masters—was nothing more than a diluted extract derived from the dragon’s saliva.
A monster of such terrifying power, once it revealed itself, could easily annihilate an entire small city.
At this moment, Chen Fei finally understood why he had been feeling so uneasy, why the silence of this place had been eerily unsettling—it was because a silver flood dragon had been lurking beneath the depths of the pool.
The flood dragon slowly raised its head above the water. Its eyes, like ink-stained pearls, scanned the surroundings before locking onto a specific area.
“ROAR!”
A furious bellow erupted from the beast’s mouth.
The next moment, an ice arrow shot from its gaping maw, hurtling toward a nearby pile of rocks.
BOOM!
The ice arrow exploded like a missile, blasting the rocks into the air. Countless vines withered instantly, turning to dust.
Only then did Chen Fei realize that hidden among the rocks was an old man in gray robes. With the destruction of his cover, the figure leaped into the air and landed on a large boulder.
“As expected of a thousand-year-old Silver Flood Dragon,” the gray-robed elder sneered, revealing a silver-glowing sword in his hand. “You actually saw through my invisibility technique.”
“A True Spirit Master!”
Chen Fei’s heart pounded wildly.
The flood dragon burst out of the pool, sending massive waves crashing around it. Its enormous, twenty-meter-long body gleamed with silver scales, while several bulges along its belly indicated its yet-to-fully-formed dragon claws.
As it emerged, the dragon let out another deafening roar, firing ice arrows in all directions.
Chen Fei was shocked to discover that the gray-robed elder was not alone—three other True Spirit Masters were also lying in wait!
One was a brawny man clad in armor, wielding twin blades. He was the youngest among the four.
Another was an elder dressed in green robes, who gracefully landed on the ground after forming a series of hand seals.
The last one… was none other than Sun Qianyi, the vice principal of Silver Moon Academy!
Sun Qianyi instinctively glanced toward Chen Fei’s location, clearly surprised to see him here.
Four True Spirit Masters!
Chen Fei remained completely still in his hiding spot, unsure of what to do.
The moment Sun Qianyi looked his way, Chen Fei knew he had been discovered. Unwittingly, he had stumbled into a secret ambush and ruined their plan, forcing the flood dragon to appear prematurely.
“Did I just cause trouble?”
Chen Fei realized with a sinking heart that he had likely disrupted the four True Spirit Masters’ carefully laid scheme.
However, at this moment, no one paid him any attention. All eyes were on the furious flood dragon.
“I need to leave now,” Chen Fei thought bitterly. “Otherwise, once the battle ends, I’ll be in serious trouble when these True Spirit Masters come after me.”
Without hesitation, he cautiously began retreating, making sure to stay vigilant against both the flood dragon and the Spirit Masters.
As expected, no one cared about his movements—nor did the flood dragon.
“Die, you beast!”
Before Chen Fei could escape, the green-robed elder lost patience and attacked. With a furious shout, he brandished his longsword, launching an assault on the airborne flood dragon.
“ROAR!”
The flood dragon retaliated immediately, unleashing another ice arrow while lunging toward its attacker.
Seeing this, the other three Spirit Masters wasted no time—they joined the fight, launching a combined assault on the silver flood dragon.
The sheer force of the battle was terrifying. Even from a thousand meters away, the energy waves slashed through the surrounding plants and vines as if they were fragile paper.
Chen Fei had no choice but to activate his spiritual armor. The impact of the energy waves struck him like an invisible storm of blades, producing crackling sounds as they battered against his defenses.
“This is bad!”
Chen Fei grimaced. He had clearly ruined the True Spirit Masters’ setup, and even though Sun Qianyi was present, the others wouldn’t simply let him walk away unscathed.
They denied him any chance to retreat, forcing him to endure the aftermath of their battle. The violent energy waves alone were enough to be life-threatening for a Grand Spirit Master like him.
Sun Qianyi did his best to shield Chen Fei from the worst of the damage, but even so, the residual shockwaves battered him mercilessly. If not for his recent physical enhancements, he would have been seriously injured already.
Losing combat ability at this moment would be a death sentence. Even Sun Qianyi might not be able to protect him.
Chen Fei gritted his teeth and continued retreating, determined to escape from this chaotic battlefield.
However, the flood dragon, now enraged beyond reason, suddenly unleashed a massive barrage of ice arrows!
Countless icy projectiles rained down like artillery shells, exploding upon impact with devastating force.
The four True Spirit Masters quickly activated their spiritual defenses, dodging and blocking as best as they could.
They barely managed to avoid the worst of it—but Chen Fei wasn’t so lucky.
Even the residual explosions from these attacks were too much. His spiritual armor shattered under the relentless assault, and his body was instantly covered in countless deep wounds.
Blood soaked his entire body, making him look terrifyingly gruesome. If not for his Ironclaw Roc bloodline enhancement, he would have been killed instantly.
Gritting his teeth in pain, Chen Fei shot a sharp glare at the green-robed elder.
It was clear—this old bastard had no intention of letting him leave. By denying him an exit, he had nearly caused Chen Fei’s death!
