Chen Fei cautiously approached the battlefield where the intense battle was raging. His goal was simple: to prevent Wei Junhao and Song Yiyun from killing the Ironclaw Rock Eagle here.
When he was about a hundred meters away from the combat zone, Chen Fei halted and picked up a small rock that had fallen to the ground due to the fierce fight.
With a surge of spiritual energy, an invisible mental force enveloped the stone as he prepared to unleash Thousand Illusions Slash!
A massive force gathered within the seemingly ordinary rock, infused with Chen Fei’s spirit and intent. In his hands, it was no longer just a stone—it had become an extension of his will.
If he wanted to stop Wei Junhao and Song Yiyun from killing the Ironclaw Rock Eagle, there was only one way: injure Wei Junhao, who had already stepped into the Half-Step True Spirit Realm. If Wei Junhao were wounded, he would become wary and cautious, forcing him to retreat with Song Yiyun.
Chen Fei did not rush to make a move. He patiently observed, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. At this moment, Wei Junhao and Song Yiyun had no idea that a third party was lurking nearby.
Their full attention was on the Ironclaw Rock Eagle, trying to deal as much damage as possible to kill it, drain its blood, and seize its demon core.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The battle remained intense. Heavily injured, the Ironclaw Rock Eagle sensed its impending doom, and its beastly nature erupted in full force. It fought back with reckless ferocity, unwilling to accept its fate.
However, the tide of battle had already turned against it. No matter how fiercely it struggled, it could not change the inevitable. Wei Junhao and Song Yiyun relentlessly attacked, deepening its wounds and draining its strength.
“Yiyun, cover me! I’ll finish this beast off!” Seeing that the time was right, Wei Junhao stopped hesitating and charged toward the injured eagle’s exposed wing.
“Got it!” Song Yiyun responded, intensifying her attacks to further distract and harass the Ironclaw Rock Eagle.
A flash of cold steel streaked toward the eagle’s wounded wing. The Ironclaw Rock Eagle let out a mournful cry, realizing that it could not avoid the strike. It was destined to die beneath their blades.
But at this critical moment—Chen Fei struck!
Wei Junhao, fully committed to his attack, had abandoned his defense. If his sword landed, the eagle would lose all power to resist. However, if he failed to deal the final blow, the beast’s deadly talons would retaliate, putting his life in grave danger.
“Now!”
Chen Fei unleashed his long-prepared strike. The small stone in his hand, imbued with a massive surge of spiritual energy, shot forward like a cannonball.
More than just a projectile, the stone carried his spiritual imprint, allowing it to be guided with pinpoint accuracy—like a missile with an advanced targeting system.
“Die!”
Wei Junhao’s face lit up with anticipation. Killing a top-tier Earth Spirit Realm demon beast while still at the Ninth Grade Grand Spirit Master level would be an incredible feat!
Just as he thought he was about to achieve this milestone, his expression suddenly changed. He sensed a powerful surge of energy hurtling toward him from behind.
“Not good!”
Wei Junhao’s heart sank.
Abandoning his attack, he twisted his body at the last second.
Clang!
His sword veered off course, missing the eagle’s exposed wound and instead striking its iron-hard wing feathers.
The impact sent a jolt through his body. At the same time, an icy chill crept up his back. The Ironclaw Rock Eagle, sensing an opening, lashed out with its razor-sharp talons.
Slash!
In the blink of an eye, cold sweat formed on Wei Junhao’s forehead.
At the last moment, his enhanced spiritual armor absorbed most of the impact. With Song Yiyun’s support, he narrowly avoided a fatal blow.
Boom!
Meanwhile, the stone Chen Fei had launched found its mark. It embedded itself deep into the eagle’s wound like a nail driven into flesh, causing the beast to shriek in agony.
But more importantly, the sudden attack disrupted the siege.
The Ironclaw Rock Eagle seized the moment, ignoring the pain as it spread its massive wings and soared into the sky. Once airborne, the humans on the ground could no longer pose a serious threat.
“What happened?!” Song Yiyun demanded, staring at the wounded but still-living beast in disbelief. “Senior, how did you let it escape?!”
“We’re not alone,” Wei Junhao said grimly, grabbing her and pulling her into hiding.
“What? That’s impossible!” Song Yiyun scanned the surroundings, but she saw no one.
“The Ironclaw Rock Eagle had no way of detecting us before, yet it managed to strike at us precisely when we were most vulnerable. This wasn’t a coincidence. Someone is lurking nearby—someone with even greater sensory abilities than us and a terrifying level of stealth!” Wei Junhao said warily.
“Could it be an expert from Qinling?” Song Yiyun’s expression darkened. Only the strongest spirit masters from Qinling could suppress them like this.
“I don’t know,” Wei Junhao admitted. “But if they were truly that powerful, why resort to trickery? No, I suspect their strength isn’t overwhelming—otherwise, they would have confronted us directly.”
His expression was grim. He had been played.
Not only had he wasted a precious pseudo-Fourth Grade Heaven-Turning Spirit Pill, but he had also almost lost his life to the Ironclaw Rock Eagle.
“No matter who it is, we will find them. The students of Qinghai Academy will not be humiliated like this!” Song Yiyun declared furiously. She had also nearly died because of this ambush.
Meanwhile, not far away, Chen Fei listened to their conversation through his Serpent Spirit Eyes, catching every word.
“So, they’re from Qinghai Academy in Zhou Country.”
He smirked coldly.
“This was just a small taste. One day, when I’m strong enough, I’ll settle the score for that ambush in the alley.”
Without hesitation, he silently retreated.
The Ironclaw Rock Eagle was his target from the start—he wouldn’t let it escape.
The stone he had thrown, infused with his spiritual energy, not only allowed him to track the eagle with pinpoint accuracy but could also be detonated remotely if needed.
The already severely wounded eagle, flying at full speed to escape, was only worsening its condition. When the time was right, Chen Fei would trigger the stored energy within the stone, delivering a final devastating blow.
Even if the beast survived, it would no longer have any power to resist.
Keeping his senses locked onto the eagle’s movement, Chen Fei also noticed that the farther his spiritual imprint got from him, the greater the drain on his mental energy.
His time was limited.
He needed to finish this soon.
